Violaceous' Rocky Mountain Adventure
Violaceous was a reclusive Dragony in a search for something fantastic to do, and one day she left the eel-infested quarry to follow the sun as it streaked across the sky. She had no friends to speak to, and her only living relative was her dragon father, who had since left the land of Equestria to settle down into a new home somewhere in the Dragon Lands. A few years ago, he received word that a new leader had risen from the Gauntlet of Fire, a dragon only racing event where the first to pass a series of life-risking tests and obtain the powerful staff within a tall rock across the sea would reign over all dragons until he (or she) passed on, or decided to retire from lordship. Although Viol had the ability to make the flight across the eastern ocean, she chose to stay in Equestria to seek an item of value comparable to golden coins and sparkling jewels. Finally, an opportunity to make a discovery had come!
She continued to follow the sun until it had disappeared beneath a mountain range, many miles past the Hayfield & McColt’s unified sculpture representing an end to a terrible, terrible land feud. Alas, her eyes were not set on the object, or the unique community. The Dragony fluttered herself to the north and east direction to investigate a wall of rock draped in layers of vines, and as she tore through the five thick layers of twisted vegetation, discovered the mouth of a cave! Who or what could be hiding within? Ever the curious Dragony, Viol decided to enter and see what might be on the other side.
It was very dark in the cave, and even darker still now that the sun had set. So she decided to breathe a little fire to lighten things up. However, in doing so, Viol accidentally spooked a group of bats from their hiding places in the ceiling! So much so that one large bat collided with a stalactite, leaving a crack large enough for it to slip and crash onto a nearby stalagmite below. While the bats scrambled to the new exit Viol had made, Viol fled deeper into the dark and through an unstable stone floor!
