Personality: Halley may come of as someone stoic or apathetic in times of crisis. You may often see her maintaining her ground among the chaos. It is not because she does not care. It is because she is observing, paying attention to every detail that may have caused such problems to arise. With the absence of her hearing ability she tries her best compensate it with her other senses. This, however, she conceals as much as she can for she does not want to encounter the same misfortunes she had in the past.
Despite of her having "a resting b***h face", Halley is really soft-hearted and compassionate towards others; a part of hers which she hate for it clouds her logical side. This brings out her childishness and can be sometimes quite gullible.

Biography: You may often find Halley wearing headphones on, not paying much attention to her surroundings. This was the excuse she came up with just in case others may call her from afar. You see, at a very young age she experienced difficulty in hearing. Initially she can hear perfectly well but gradually it worsen.
Socializing with others came naturally to young Halley. You may consider her as on of the popular students in her school, surrounded and adored by many for her beauty and brains. This changed during her elementary days. Slowly her friends distanced themselves towards her, talking behind her back stating that she changed ever since her mother remarried. This part she did not mind since she know that it was not true. The fact that her mother has blaming her for the death of her father never changed. She always get a beating for trivial matters; but of course, she kept this part to herself.
Despite the hardships she encountered she continued to pursue her dreams of becoming a detective. She made sure that her grades are always on top and worked part time as a clerk in a convenience store. Here she met a young man, almost of the same age, with whom she found comfort and security. He was very considerate and always brings her along whenever he went out with his family or friends.
It was all unicorns and rainbows until she had a check-up with the doctor (EENT). According to him Halley has 70% hearing loss and there is a high chance that this will worsen overtime. On the bright side, she will still be able to hear properly as long as she uses a hearing aide. This was when she realized the possibility of her not being able to hear others calling her and that she may have sent them the wrong signals. She never intended to ignore them.
When she told her friends the sad news, she managed to regain some of her friends while the others stayed the same. She doesn't mind. She cannot control what other think or do so its fine. However, after she made up with her friends her boyfriend became cold. She figured it would be unfair if she immediately assumed that he was ghosting him so she went to the route he usually takes and ambushed him during one of his family gatherings. That only solidified her hypothesis. He said that he only dated her because she was pretty and that she thought it would be beneficial for him if he were to date someone who has good looks and good grades. This would most likely secure his future. After hearing the results from her doctor he doubts that she can even accomplish anything. In short he was ashamed of her and just used her to show off.
This unforeseen events resulted to depression. She began to loose her self worth and doubt her own abilities. Its a good thing that her ego refuses for her to stay down and be eaten by her anxiety. She used these struggles as motivation to aim for her goal. First she needs to get out of that house so that she will have the will of her own then enter an organization that will help her achieve her dreams of becoming a detective.
Of course, this was no walk in the park. She practiced how to lip read and read every psychological book she could get her hands on. In time, she was able to read what others say without hearing anything. Despite all the skills she acquired, up to this date, she had never worn her hearing aides again. The series of unfortunate events was enough to traumatize Halley, maybe for life.
Strengths
✓ Lip reading: This is the main way for her to understand what others are telling her.
✓ Parkour: Or as she pertains it "the sports made for criminals". She would not say that she is already ready an expert in this field though as she usually use this to spy on others and escape.
✓ Cooking : She's a competent chef. Not only does she monitor her targets she also monitors her diet to make sure she will be able to bring out the optimum potential of her brain.
Weaknesses
✗ Sleep walking: Not sure if this could be considered as a medical problem but she may roam around unconsciously in her sleep which is why she tries to tie her hand to her bed before she sleeps.
✗ Overfocus: This often happens if she really likes the subject. She ends up neglecting her tasks in this state. There are times she even forget to eat or sleep
✗ Overthinking: One may say that this is a side effect of being a perfectionist? She has a tendency to think of all the possible scenarios that may happen and worry about it to the point of not being able to move. She's afraid that what she may not foresee may cause cause harm to others.

Extra information: You will never catch her without her earphones. She uses this as an excuse not being able to hear others when she's not looking. And no. No one knows she is deaf. Not unless you are part of her past.
