Character Name: Raziel Gowan

Hometown: Castellia City, Unova region.
Personality: Hotheaded and impulsive, Raziel tends to let this pride get in the way of his better judgement. He's stubborn and tends to launch himself enthusiastically into whatever endeavour that he sets himself up for - even if that task is probably not one that was brewed from a particularly good idea. For all this faults and short comings though, he is a pretty honest person in a way. He is quick to recognize when he really screwed up bad and he does try to learn from his mistakes. He is a little socially clumsy and has some abandonment issues that manifests in him slow to trust people but is a stern and loyal friend to those who do take the time to build his friendship. This being said, however, Raziel is not someone who will forgive betrayal and those who slight him will learn that he is one to carry deep seeded grudges with him for decades.
History:
Raziel had a bit of a rough start to his life, he was the result of a quick but passionate fling between two college sweethearts that ended just as quickly as it started. Raziel's dad had taken off before he was even born to unknown parts of the world, leaving his mom to try and raise him on her own. The woman was an ambitious one and had always set her sights on power and prestige within a large company, as a result the pregnancy was a very heavy setback for her and the attention seeking child that resulted was even more burdensome. When Raziel was about 6 years old, she finally had enough of the boy who was acting out more and more to get some attention from his mom and sent him to live in Vaniville with his grandparents. His grandparents were no warmer to the child, as they were very traditional people and saw childbirth out of wedlock as something that was shameful. Still, they took the child in and did their best to raise Raziel for their daughter while she secured her future. The abandonment had taken its toll on Raziel though, and his want for attention morphed and twisted into a rage that got him into deeper and more serious trouble. He got into fights regularly, he started to vandalize local business and the homes of those who slighted him along with minor thief. Raziel got more and more out of control as time went on and quickly became known as a Hellion among the townsfolk and was shunned by all. His Grandparents gave up on him, really only feeding him and letting him stay at their place when he wasn't cooling his head and heels in the local police holding cells.
Raziel never grew up with much interest in Pokemon, he was just the kind of person who would rather settle his disputes with his own fist and good solid right hook. He would constantly overhear people talking about older siblings and parents who were getting badges or ribbons and how much they were respected and admired by everyone. Raziel had never really had any contact with pokemon though - spare a rather old and grumpy Meowth that his Grandma owned- so his exposure was limited and a trainer's licence was out of his reach because of his unsavoury past times. It had seemed that Raziel's future had been decided upon and he was destined to forever be the local thug that was going to spend the majority of his life in prison. Forever a shame on his family and menace to his community. By the time that Raziel was 10 he seemed to be on the brink of brutish life of no return. He had no real friends and no close family, the tensions at his grandparents house was reaching its breaking point and it finally came to a head when he turned 13.
It was the fight to end all fights in his Grandparents household, his grandmother really let him have it and Raziel gave as good as he got it. She had unintentionally stoked his all consuming pride and promptly told him that he was never going to amount to anything and what a disgrace he was to the family. In a blind rage, Raziel stormed out of the house and took off into the embrace of the night, hell-bent on going to prove his Grandparents wrong. But whatever half-baked scheme had brewed in his mind was not likely fully developed before its execution.

Fears: Getting close to someone only to have them abandon him. The abandonment of his Mom and dad left a terrible scar on the psyche and he gets rather hostile to those who leave their pokemon behind.
