Ah~ the ocean was so blinding today. The sunlight bounced right off and the ocean sparkled with the light. It was hot. Liloa was in the ocean today, if that wasn't obvious. Why? She was helping her mom, as usual. She remembered the days when this used to be more of an adventure and more fun. She remembered when the rivers flooded and opened the new world of the ocean to her. Now, her mother called for her to swim faster and get going. After a while, Liloa did speed up to join her mother on their way to a town in the area. There, her mother could sell clothes. Liloa was just along for the experience and ride. At first, she had fun with this new responsibility, now it was just too repetitive.
Her mother noticed her boredom after Liloa had helped her for a while. "Hey, you can go have some fun and take a break," she said. Liloa gratefully nodded a thank you. What should she do today? She swam off pondering. The town was nice, maybe she should stop somewhere for a drink or some food? She was hungry with all the working she was doing. So, with that Liloa swam looking for a place to eat. But....she was lost. She had wandered to a part of town she was unfamiliar with. She looked around frantically for someone to help.

"Gram?" Naia swam alongside of the older hapuna obediently. Unlike how she was with her brothers the young girl was highly considerate of her grandmother and did her best to behave. Even running errands with her grandmother who liked to trade in the market, her family's fine nets for some materials for their home and sometimes if they lucked out trinkets or rarer foods, but today Naia was feeling especially antsy. While she didn't mind some education about trading the girl just wasn't feeling it today and so for the first time in a while the little one found herself pleading with her grandmother, "Can I explore nearby? I promise I won't go too far and that I can meet you at the entrance to the market when the sun reaches the third peak?"
That much she was good at. After all if she wasn't aware of the sun's position then her brothers would really get in trouble when they lost her! It was also a good way to know when she had been above the waters for too long sunbathing. So after making her promises to her grandmother Naia waited expectantly and let out a happy squee when the older hapuna nodded her head, "Thank you!" Hugging her grandmother she let go before darting away from the busier areas of the market to look around.
Of course the definition of nearby varied for Naia and it wasn't long that the market was completely out of sight. As she went her way she found her gaze darting towards a strange blur of green. The reefs and the hapuna weren't that color....had someone wrapped themselves in the darker seaweed from the outskirts of town? Blinking Naia tried to figure out the strange appearance before realizing that it was another child but from somewhere strange! One of those from the rivers? Gaze glimmering with great interest Naia raced forward before anyone else could, "Hey!" She grinned as she reached out a hand to tap the stranger's shoulder, "Aren't you a bit lost?" She teased as she studied the other child without any hint of shyness.

"Yea..., I might be," Liloa said sheepishly. She thought she knew her way around the area, but her getting lost proved otherwise. It seemed like she was close to town, but maybe in the further outskirts. Now, she was starving. All that swimming had used up her energy reserves just trying to find a place to eat. Now her tummy was grumbling in protest as if it was yelling "I'm running on empty!!!" That was pretty funny since at first, she was so ready to eat some good food, and now she was basically starving in who knows where.
Perhaps... there would be some secret food shop around that the girl knew about. "Do you know where I could find a place to get some food?" asked Liloa. At first, Liloa was pretty shocked when she had heard the other girl ask her if she was lost. Even when she was swimming all this way, most people just assumed she knew what she was doing and didn't ask her anything. Now, this red-pink haired girl had just pop in seemingly out of nowhere and confidently asked her if she was lost. Well, that was the point Liloa realized she was lost and thus, asked for directions. She was pretty grateful. Otherwise, she probably would have kept swimming, believing she was going in the right direction.
