Silverstreak didn't know much about herbs, except when Dovetail had given her poppyseeds once, at the request of her mother, to actually have Silverstreak, then Silverkit, settle down for the night. Beyond that, she had figured out that cobwebs were for bleeding, but... that's as experienced as she got. She could never figure out what herbs were for what uses and trying to memorize them all had always made her nose overwhelmed and her mind jumbled.
She felt guilty, not being able to remember more, when Dovetail had died. She wouldn't want any part in a medicine cat's lifestyle, but she couldn't help, but feel responsible. Now they didn't have anyone to look after them and MountainClan seemed all the more hopeless for it.
She was so grateful when Littlepaw started showing an interest in herbs and medicines. By some blessing of SunClan, maybe, she seemed to know what she was doing, more so than any of the cats who had known Dovetail when she was alive. The apprentice was young, but already so skilled and Silverstreak wanted to help her. So, when she approached Dovetail's old den, now Littlepaw's, she smoothed her fur and tried to look presentable, despite her lithe form.
"Littlepaw?" She mewed. "Are you in here?"

Ever since Dovetail had appeared before her and appointed her medicine-cat apprentice she had become lost in repairing the den. Littlepaw knew it might end up pointless. They might all leave home or... worse, there might not be a clan left behind in a few months, but it was something to do. Something she now had the power to fix. Herbs were re-arranged and gathered, the den was fully clean, and Dovetail's scent was now gone and replace by Littlepaw's own minty one. If felt.... intimidating, to say the least. It was her den now, not Dovetail's. That mere fact made her heart flutter. Whether the clan was healthy or not factored a lot with her ability to take care of them.
But she wanted to do it.
So, she had vanished into her duties. Greeted by a few congratulations here and there, it was enough to keep her spirits high and eyes clear. Losing herself in her herbs was also a nice break from panicking over the clan. Again, it was something to do.
But she wasn't upset when Silverstreak's voice interrupted her working. Instead, she was just curious. Her head lifted and odd eyes locked on Silverstreak, a faint smile on her face as she detached herself from the cobwebs she had been neatly spreading out. She took a quick glance over the cat, noting she couldn't see any physical wounds. Good!
"I usually am these days," she mewled back, paws neatly crossing in front of her. "Although you have good timing -- I just got back from inspecting the elders den."

Silverstreak's gaze drifted lower and it was there that they rested on the split face of Littlepaw. One dark and the other bright, it was an interesting fur contrast, but not an unwelcome one. She smiled, uncertainly. Despite the fact that Littlepaw was younger than she, Silverstreak still felt enough respect for her, if not more, that she might give to a senior warrior or the deputy.
"If I'd known you'd gone to inspect the elders' den, I would've helped you." Silverstreak mentioned and then fumbled for her words. "That's why I'm here, er, I want to help that is. Whether it's going out and finding herbs or... or helping you... I don't know, move something around that's heavier..." She trailed off, looking lost. "There's not a lot of prey here, but if there are any herbs to be found left in the camp, that haven't whithered or something... I'd like to assist in find them, however I can. Or... really, whatever you need." She offered, finally looking back up at Littlepaw, wondering if the apprentice would take her up on her offer.

Silverstreak's smile ignited her own, although mostly out of reflex. She was still nervous; still worried the cat others saw before them wasn't worthy of the title medicine-cat apprentice. How many cats doubted her? How many trusted her? Her stomach fluttered as she tempered her nerves with a quiet exhale. This wasn't time to be panicking.
Silvestreak's offer, however, caught her by surprise. Her eyes locked on Silverstreak's icy-blue ones, her smile morphing into a more genuine one. It was warming to feel the genuine eagerness others felt towards her at times. She was just a small apprentice and needed the help she could get right now.
"Oh, well, I..." she trailed off for a moment, having been seconds away from thanking Silverstreak but denying she needed anything. She needed to start leaning on the clan cats more. If they trusted her enough to reach out to her, then she needed to do the same. She paused for a moment, eyes drifting as she considered what she might need. Finally, Littlepaw nodded, ears perking up.
"Actually, I was going to find some juniper berries. They grow well here and Goldenleaf has been having some stomach troubles alongside her pregnancy. I wanted to see if I could gather a few to make things easier for her, if you'd want to help?"

For a moment, when Littlepaw trailed off, Silverstreak worried if she had offended her. Her tail tip twitched with unease and she had to repress the urge to knead the ground beneath her paws. However, she couldn't repress the brief sigh of relief that escaped her maw when Littlepaw chose to accept her help.
Her ears swiveled forward and she smiled down at the apprentice. She nodded, pleased with the development. "I'd be more than happy to help! Is there anything we need to bring with us, or shall we just leave now?" She inquired.
