Msimu was quiet as she followed Bheka to the location of where he found his materials for the bag. She clicked her tongue as she looked around. "Hmm." Old hide had been collected, but the problem was it looked dried out, and stiff. Maybe that was what happened with his bag. It was too dried out, and it cracked to cause the shells to fall out?
She could only imagine.
"So you used this?"Msimu asked, pawing at one of the hides, wincing when it flopped to the ground with a slight 'thud'. "Oops." She blinked, her paw quickly retracting. "It just...fell." She looked away quickly, before scouting the area some more.
"Surely we can find something with a bit more reinforcements here."

"I did. Do you think it is the problem?" The gray male gave a slight tilt of the head. Bheka also made a face when the hide made a slight thud. Probably out of habit the lion was quick to look around and be sure that no one else had heard. He was quickly reminded that it was just Msimu and himself when there were no other faces spotted. Bheka felt dumb for his worried. "What kind of thing do you think would have more reinforcement? Something a little stiffer?" He wasn't picking up that the stiffness was part of the problem. This showed his lack of craftsmanship when it came to crafting containers. Jewelry was one thing but containers that was an entirely different animal. Bags were never a thing he put time or passion in to when crafting like he did with his shells.

"It's possible..." Msimu stated, humming slightly. "I mean, if it was really dried out it might have cracked? which caused the shells to fall." It was only a suggestion, Msimu didn't know if that truly was the reason for the faulty bag. "Maybe we can find a hide that is more...fresher?" Was that the word she was looking for? One that maybe had a bit more moisture to it, thus making it malleable. As it dried, it would dry in the bag-like shape, and then he wouldn't have to worry about potential cracks. "Hmm not stiffer no. The opposite, actually." Msimu thought. "The outside could be hide, and the inside could be these leaves?" She grabbed a large leaf, that seemed to have a waxy-like feeling to one side. "If we line the inside of a bag with this side up, that would help prevent anything sharp from poking through."

Bheka did his best to understand why none stiff material would be better on the outside and supposed it was worth a try. Msimu was making sense as far as he was concerned so he gave her a serious nod. "I'm not really sure where we can find the materials for the outside.." He confessed, "This was made with damaged old scroll material . I'm pretty sure no one minds that I took some of this but I am pretty sure they'd mind if I was to take some of the fresher batches." He gave Msimu a concerned look. It wasn't often that the pride went out on the hunt for mammal meat since they had such rich seafood on their shores. In fact, herds tended to be rarer in side their borders so the pelts were extra coveted by the scribes. "Maybe if I took a little piece..." He shook his head the moment he said that. "No no .. that would be stealing and .... " He sighed, "What do you think?"

"Well...we can always try hunting out own fresher hide. But...that would take too long," Msimu hummed. "If the scribes have some fresher material that would be our best bet. It doesn't have to be a lot." He mentioned taking a small piece, causing her to nod. She frowned when he seemed to debate about it being stealing. "Well...what if a scribe...gave it to us?" Msimu asked with a small smirk. She knew a few scribes, perhaps she could...persuade one into giving her what she needed. The Scribe Arsene came to mind. She knew him and Lehlwa had a few 'not-so-happy' discussions. What if she were to promise him a better conversation with her sister, in return of getting a fresh piece of hide? Msimu clicked her tongue. An option, of course. "Do you know any Scribes?"

Bheka had to think hard about that question because it was an overwhelming yes he knew scribes but he didn't know if any of them would help out in this area. It might be frowned upon to use the scrolls for crafting and not what they were meant for. The pride had a supply , sure, but it was considered sacred and there was a limited amount of supply. The pride didn't have bountiful herds traveling with in their lands often as they survived mostly on a diet of seafood. Bheka bit his lip. "You know... I don't know one who'd be willing ... You know how scribes get about their scrolls," His ears flattened to his head.

Msimu hummed. Well, if Bheka didn't know any... "I do." She said quietly. "At least, I think he would. I'd have to make some kind of deal with him though I am sure.." The lioness clicked her tongue as she thought. "Yeah, I think he would be willing to help if I offer him that," she kept her words cryptic as she played out a scene in her mind. All she needed to do was get her sister to go along with it. Well, a little lie to her wouldn't hurt now would it? Msimu glanced towards Bheka with a smile on her maw. "Don't worry, we will get you the best bag made! Come on, let's see if we can find him!"

This was good news for Bheka because it meant the situation wasn't hopeless and his bag would get the materials he needed. The fact the materials happened to be that of a blank fresh scroll was a concern he was willing to overlook for the time being.
"Really?" He leaned forward. "You know someone who's willing to help us??" He couldn't believe it.

"Perhaps! We need to ask him though. I am sure we can perhaps barter some kind of deal with him." Msimu stated. "Arsene. Do you know of him?" She considered the male a friend, even though she really didn't know him too well. Just a little bit from the glow of the beach, and the angry words Lehlwa would say about him. "Come on though, we should hurry. He might be in the library?" They'd have to pull him away from anyone so no one would know what they were planning. She could see other scribes saying absolutely not! But Arsene, he may be different. "Hurry Bheka, let's go!"

Bheka shrugged at the offered name. It was possible the two met at an event or in passing but Bheka had no lasting impression of Arsene. He tried to think of the faces of scribes he knew and if the name maybe sat with one of those faces.
"Can't say that I know him... But if he's willing to help I am willing to accept." He washed down those concerned feelings that a scribe would borrow scroll materials... No steal.. scroll materials to help him with his bag. Msimu didn't seem too concerned so he decided it wasn't a big deal. It wasnt like they were ruining anything important.
"Alright. Let's go," Bheka was eager now.
