Fray Manson
The strange phenomenon that caused the extinction of man is a mystery. Seven of us remain now throughout the whole universe which is a scary thought, even more horrifying if one of us dies out. My name is Fray and I just awoke from my frozen chamber a day ago. The other occupants are still sleeping soundless in their icy prisons. Perhaps its better to continue dreaming instead of waking up to this unfathomable reality. I didn't believe it myself until I read the basic instructions I was given and the vague task I was bequeathed. I was even provided with an old flash drive that showed people being swallowed by their own malice and depravity. The world became a chaotic chasm that only a God could unleash down on mankind. Why I was spared this unfortunate fate was just another question weighing on my conscious. When I did open my eyes and read that worn booklet with the tarnished red cover, my heart sank. I followed the directions closely from dressing myself with the clothes I was provided with, to my first meal, and eventually my weapon initiation. The weapons themselves are unlike any other with a unknown material discovered just before the outbreak. I pricked my finger to draw blood for this bizarre ritual and dripped it over each weapon until one called out to me. A scythe with a pitch black crows wing as the blade, a beaded crimson red jewel was embezzled near the top acting like an eye for the weapon. Holding that humming instrument in my hands was the answer to humanities salvation. Now it is time for the others to wake and start our long, parlous journey to find a cure to save the human race.
Fray laid down on a cot in a small room located down the hall from the sleeping pods waiting patiently. Yesterday, after preforming all the requirements in the handbook she was given she tried to force the others awake but to no avail. She stared at the white crumbling ceiling knowing that this facilities structure wouldn't hold much longer. The preserved meals here as well would only last them a month or two so they'd have to leave this place regardless. She bit her nails nervously hoping one of them would wake up soon. Time was at the essence and whether she exacted it or not her fate was sealed.
Fray exhaled lightly and closed her eyes hoping to get some sleep even though she had slept through decades her body was still wary. Brushing her red hair to the side she turned over finally finding a comfortable spot. She curdled into a ball and started letting the darkness eclipse her active subconscious.
