PersonalityStern and quick to prove her dominance to any upstart mare that may contest her authority with a quick backhanded strike of her claws, Bloodclaw is a mare with a driven duty and relishes in the suffering of their enemies and the pride of Northspring Might. Her loyalties lie only in three places: Their Queen, her job, and the Bloodslash arena, which she lovingly refers to as 'The Pit". And while she prefers her prey to be in one piece for a better spectacle should you be headed for The Pit, just because she tends to take you in live doesn't mean you arrive unharmed....
HistoryBorn to a Queen of a small flock who had a tryst with a pureblooded Fire Ulun'suti, Bloodclaw was always combative. However her Flock was in an inopportune area, with scarce food. The queen fed herself and her allies well, but let the rest of the flock starve. Bloodclaw was well fed, but unhappy, knowing if she stated anything against her mother she would be left with the rest.
Then the Queen of the Northspring harpies started unifying the smaller flocks under one banner to better rival the flock, giving most queens a choice: Either bow down and join willingly, giving up your position as queen and territory for a better life for your flock, with food and protection and sisterhood guaranteed, or have your entire flock slaughtered as enemies.
When confronted, Bloodclaws mother tried to deny their demands, insisting that she would remain queen until her dying breath rather than bow down to them. It was then Bloodclaw turned on her mother, declaring her right as her child to combat her for the spot of queen. She won, slaughtering her startled mother with ease. She turn turned to the queen of the Bloodclaws, and pledged allegiance to the Unified Northspring Flock so her others could have a better life, gaining admiration from the Queen: She would turn against her own blood for what was best for the group, Strong and brutal, but seeing the new queen as a sort of savor.
With this, and her knowledge of their territory, the less hospital part became hers to tend, but not as a place to live, but as a place of entertainment: The Shelters of the queen in the Karst collapse and caves system turned into Cages for a prison and a gladiatorial arena, and the old nesting grounds now additional cages for other collections. She was now in charge of capturing skinwalkers and other enemies that would make good breeding stock or gladiators for entertainment or tests of skill, as well as in charge of training mares in how to capture living things without killing or handicapping them.
Her arena is one of the few areas where males that are kept in the cages live regardless of boys sired, but also where males who were not kept are disposed of, given one final chance to escape alive: can they face the Purewalker and, without killing them, subdue them long enough to breed with them and be released.
Typically they are released into the desert without food or water. It's up to them to survive after that.
Bloodclaw however may at times select males that have been captured, or select Northspring bred stallions to bring into the gladiator arena to raise as professional fighters.
