I believed in working hard for everything I received, I believed in church, and I believed in treating my wife well, just as my father and grandfather had taught me and I strived to teach my sons. I only ever wanted what was best for my family, even if they did not always agree with me.
My background story is I lived a typical life during my time in the world. I went to church with my parents, finished school, I met a girl and fell in love, and we married and had two sons. It was a charmed little life, until my boys were grown, and my youngest fell under the spell of an evil woman obsessed with witchcraft. She even bore his child! My wife and I were horrified; we thought the baby must be evil as well, and we tried desperately to save our son, but he was too far gone. As it turned out, our grandson managed to be a normal human being, however... He didn't seem to care for us much. We couldn't understand why. I was never able to help my sons, as my age eventually got the best of me and I became ill. I passed at my wife's side, just as we intended, in 2032.
I enjoy poker, sports, a good cup of coffee, and time with my beloved wife.

My background story is I lived such a nice life. I made life-long friends in school, I was involved in the church and the community, I met a wonderful man who made me his wife, and in turn I gave him two darling sons. Life was wonderful, until my boys were grown... An evil woman bewitched my Marco and knocked herself up with his child. My husband and I were horrified when they married! We tried so hard to convince Marco not to go through with it, but he still married that woman. Of course, that didn't stop us. He could always get the marriage annulled--clearly he hadn't been in the right state of mind. Our grandson, we feared, would be a witch like his dreadful mother. As it turned out, he was a perfectly normal little boy, but he truly didn't care for us. We couldn't understand why he wouldn't love his grandparents. It must have been her fault.
I wish I could have helped my son, but he was stubborn and his father and I were getting on in years. My husband passed in 2032, and I just months later due to kidney failure... At least from what the doctors say. Truth be told, I died of a broken heart.

People can describe me as a brash sort of fellow. I do not tolerate any bullarkey and I have a tendency to get angry when I feel something is not right... Or doesn't align with my personal values. I am a loyal man however, and I will stand by those I care about until the bitter end.
My background story is I've lived a charmed life, if you could call it that. My parents were very old-fashioned folk and although they raised me well, I had a tendency to rebel as a teenager. Just the typical stuff, really: smoking, sneaking out, stealing my father's car to impress some girl... Got grounded for months for that one.
My brother is my best friend, and although I love him, I'll be the first to admit he's a bloody moron. The lad knocked up some girl right when he graduated high school. It was good of him to take responsibility, but the woman was strange. I couldn't quite place it until my brother admitted she was an honest-to-god witch, and I had to tell our parents. I mean, a witch? He couldn't possibly! Tying the knot with her was the stupidest decision I had ever heard of. What was he going to do if his kid was using magic too? Luckily, he wasn't. Orion (weird name, that one) turned out to be a normal kid, and I liked him well enough. Their second son, however... He was entirely too much like his mother, and I couldn't stand it. He disgusted me, and although I would never lay a finger on a child, I made my feelings very clear. The littlest one, the girl, I wasn't sure what to make of her. I kept my distance, but that was hard being her primary caregiver. I understood that Marco had to work long shifts as a doctor, but why couldn't Delia at least stay home with the kids? After all, our mother did. A child needs their mother around, and she couldn't even do that right.
Eventually, despite the fact I'd practically raised her children and she should be thankful, Delia decided I needed to be out of the picture. I couldn't believe she got Marco to agree with her. It's been a while since I've last saw them, but Marco has been calling me often. We have lunch every Tuesday. Seems like he's starting to have regrets--no surprise there.
I enjoy math, reading, bowling, football, and breakfast food.

People can describe me as a workaholic. I know I can be far too obsessive with my work, neglecting time with my family, but truly I do it because I want to help as many people as I possibly can. I've saved several lives in my field of work and I hope my family can understand the importance of this. I am a studious individual, although that doesn't mean I don't enjoy playing games with my children or going to the movies every once in a while, or even going on a romantic date with my wife.
My background story is as a teenager, I fell in love with a witch, Delia... Of course, I wasn't aware she was magic until she was bearing my child. I didn't know much about magic, being what they called "a muggle" and all, but I wanted to make it work... So I asked for her hand in marriage. I didn't see my son when he was born, since she went home to her father for the birth. Jonah ended up raising my son until Delia graduated, and then we married and her and Orion moved to Rye with me. It was nice, but I told my brother she was a witch, and... Really, he's such a blabbermouth, and I should have figured my religious parents wouldn't take the news well. For years they begged me to abandon my family, calling them devils and the like, but I just couldn't agree. Della had never done anything bad. Orion was just a baby! And what kind of man would I be to turn my back on them?
While I was going through medical school my parents each passed away. Della's father, Jonah, died before Orion was even five. But it wasn't all bad, since shortly after Delia was pregnant again with our second son. I wanted to honor her and her father, for everything they both have gone through, so I decided to name our son Jonah. Della couldn't have been happier. We eventually had a daughter named Rhea as well. I didn't get the whole astronomy theme my wife was going for, but at least Rhea sounded somewhat normal.
Orion turned out to have no magic, just like me. Jonah, on the other hand, took after his mum, and I realized I really had no idea what I had gotten myself into when it came to magic. I was finishing med school at this point, and I was constantly having to pick Jonah up from school because of strange "incidents" in class. I love my son, but why did he have to be such a troublemaker? I didn't have time for it right then, so I convinced Della to let my brother move in to help with the boys... A dreadful mistake, really.
It was fine for a few years, but apparently Rion had told his mum about Joseph was being cruel to Jonah because of his magic. Della wanted him out immediately, but he was my brother, and I doubted he would bully a child--especially one that was his nephew. Della threatened to leave with the kids if I didn't kick Joseph out. Was our marriage really that fragile? Of course, I wanted to keep my family... I had no choice but to send my brother away. Things between Della and I have been strained ever since.
Even so, it wasn't enough. After months of arguing, Delia and I decided to call it quits.
I enjoy reading, spicy food, working, and time with my children.

xxxBACKSTORYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx EARLY CHILDHOOD [Before Vespera Salazar Existed] Lucifer (Luke) Salazar was a pureblooded wizard, born and raised in Spain. He had moved to England after graduating from his wizarding school, working with the Ministry in the Muggle Liaison Office. He had been working on learning ways of muggles in the UK, when he met young Victoria, a prim and proper young lady. They started talking, and decided to meet again. After several dates and many conversations, the two were engaged and married.
After their wedding, the two moved into a wizarding neighborhood in England, somewhere surrounded by wizards, but very close to muggle society. That was when Luke shared with Victoria that witches and wizards were real, and that he was one. That it was very likely that their children would be magic. Victoria hated that she only learned about so much of the man’s life after their marriage, but she loved him for his personality, not that he was a wizard, and thus they lived happily.
That is, until they were pregnant, and arguments arose. There had been great discussion between her parents, on how their child should be raised. Victoria didn’t want her child to deal with anything magic, would rather if their kid didn’t even go to Hogwarts. However, Lucifer wanted their child to be a proper witch, as if they had been a pureblood like he was. They had yet to come to a decision, when Lucifer passed away, leaving Victoria Lorelai to raise their child on her own.
[March 25th, 2031: Born] Vespera was born to a widowed mother, who was still desperate to keep her away from all magic. They lived in a primarily wizarding community, not that Ves knew that.
[December 9th, 2040: Magic is Real] Vespera attended a very boring school, with no other kids from her neighborhood. In general, she was not allowed to talk with those kids. She frequently wondered what those other kids did, especially when she would see owls fly to their houses, but no owl would ever fly to her house. She had learned not to question it, because her mom would just get mad and ground her. The loneliness made Ves sad, and she knew what would make her happy - if all the walls had polka dots on it. She thought hard and long, and wished with all her might that the walls had those polka dots on it, how mad she would be without them, and suddenly the entire house was covered with dots.
Victoria came running, and glared at the walls and at Ves, before sighing and saying she couldn’t hide this from Ves any longer. Victoria took Ves into the study, a room that had always been locked, and sat her down. Victoria told Vespera of all the things that Luke had told Victoria about magic, then gestured around. All of the books in the study were the ones about something in the magic world.
Vespera took this to mean, she should read every book that was in the library. Many of these were over 200 years old, but surely things in the magic world hadn’t changed that much! She worked had to learn the values and rules that her father would have wanted her to know. She still talked with her muggle friends, but didn’t spend as much time with them, her father surely wouldn’t want her associating with muggles (She hadn’t realized the flaw in this logic, as her mother was a muggle and clearly her father wanted to be with her mother). Vespera planned on having the best options available to her future, and knew she would be going to Hogwarts when she was 11 years old. She wanted to be the best out there for witches, and this became her mantra.
SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR ~ 2042 - 2043
Vespera had gone shopping for her school supplies shortly after she got her Hogwarts letter. She had been preparing ofr this day for the past 3 years, and had planned to run away from her mother, as she date not tell her what she had planned to do. She had waited for another witch to go through a barrier in the leaky cauldron, then followed them in. The world of magic was so cool, and Vespera was thrilled to be a part of it. She had run into a few of her future classmates (Vinny and the Connelly Family). However, she didn’t quite fit in with them, she slowly just shied away from them, and went about her own task of finding supplies.
I understand plenty, my dear girl, don't you worry Now then, let's see, you've certainly got a way about you, eh? Not Gryffindor? You've got fire, for sure But, then if you're certain, I guess it'll be Slytherin!
After a long train ride (with the Hepburn twins), Vespera found herself sitting at a table with Vinny and one of the Connelly siblings, having been sorted into Slytherin. She had thought the Connelly girl would be the worst, but instead she made enemies with another girl, Aeryn. They had beds next ot each other in the dorm, and the girl was just mean. Ves wasn’t that much nicer toward her, to be fair, but she couldn’t stand that girl. She hoped that the girl would just vanish one day, but alas they were probably going to be stuck with each other for the next 7 years.
With that, Vespera started her year officially alone. She wondered, what would she do if she didn’t want to do a traditional job, such as her books had told her to do? She didn’t know, but she would try various things out, make sure she had a well rounded education. She decided to join the Daily Dragon, as a writer, hoping that she would discover other things she could do in the wizarding world. In this club, she befriended a Ravenclaw, named Jonah Lane. Jonah then introduced her to Sonora Li, and the three became close friends. Knowing Jonah,Ves had learned the levitating spell fairly well, having dropped some leaves, snow, and eggs on his head. She attended her classes and studied diligently, but she wouldn’t have passed if not for her Ravenclaw study buddies.
SECOND YEAR ~ 2043 - 2044
During the summer, Vespera spent a lot of time thinking to herself, not sure what to do with her life, with her family, with her friends. She wanted to talk about this to someone, in person, but she could never get away from her mother. She decided yes, it was 3 AM her mother wouldn’t miss her. That was how Vespera ended up in the Lane house at 3 in the morning. Of course, she brought coffee for Jonah - she had a bone to pick with him anyways.Jonah..had some excellent thoughts even as he was half asleep. She began changing some of her views on muggles, she realized some of the flaws of her previous logic (but she still wasn’t a huge fan of her Mom)
During the actual school year, Vespera began a pen pal relationship with Orion Lane, Jonah’s older brother. She found a dislike of the subject Defense against the Dark Arts, after she had been chewed out by the professor for throwing a note at Jonah. Vespera began to not speak in classes, and would only speak up when she was called on. She once again, only passed because she would ask questions afterwards to Jonah and Sona, her best friends.
THIRD YEAR ~ 2044 - 2045
Vespera was thrilled to be able to start on electives, she could have more insight on what she would do with her future. Her least favorite part of third year, was DADA when they faced their boggart, their biggest fear. Ves was terrified, when her boggart turned into her friends, all leaving her because of her attitude. She was almost glad, none of her friends had seen her true fears, except her enemy did see it, Aeryn. After a small threat toward Aeryn, she nodded to herself, she would be a better person after this day.
Except, Vespera had a backwards way of getting her friends to not abandon her. She began to back away from her friends, not hang out with them, not see them. She isolated herself and studied harder on her own. By the end of the year, she was pretty alone, but she wouldn’t be left by anyone else. She ended up dropping Care of Magical Creatures, creatures just weren’t her thing.
FOURTH YEAR~ 2045 - 2046
During the summer, there was a Magical Creatures Fair. Ves had entered a raffle, and ended up winning a Crup Pup, who she called Lyra - the run of the litter. Vespera fell in love, and she worked on training Lyra to love all people, including muggles who they usually had an aversion to. Vespera saw her friends at the fair, but had wandered away from them, only to run into Orion. Who was a werewolf. Vespera panicked and called him a dog, amongst other very rude things, and their friendship was ruined - one of Ves’s worst fears come true.
During the school year, Lyra came along with Ves keeping her company. Her other friends began to break into couples, and Ves really was left alone. This was fine, they would come back one day, probably? She threw herself into her studies. She went as far as to do extra research in healing, for differences in Muggle and Magic healing. She loved the comparing and contrasting of their tactics, and realized maybe muggles weren’t all bad. This was how Ves spent most of the year, carefully avoiding her friends and studying. At the end of the year, Sonora ambushed Ves just before exams, and made Ves realize she had been being silly. If she had just told her friends about the boggart instead of pushing them away, all the being alone wouldn’t have been an issue - she had essentially made her own fear a reality. With that, Ves began hanging out with all of her coupley friends, just in time to do her final studies.
FIFTH YEAR ~ 2046 - 2047
Vespera confronted Jonah in their first Daily Dragon meeting of the year. It wasn’t the best time to reconcile their friendship, but it was effective. During winter break, Ves spent a lot of time with Sona and Verine, working on a few potions. She was thrilled by it all, and wondered if doing something with potions would be a good thing in her future. After winter break, she studied for OWLs, and managed to pass almost all of her exams. Jonah was disappointed in Ves and her astronomy scores, but what could be expected when one had an exam first thing in the morning for a class that was only held at night!
SIXTH YEAR ~ 2047 - 2048
Classes had stepped up in difficulty, now that they were preparing for NEWTs next year. However, Ves did enjoy having less time in classes. It gave her the chance to spend more time studying with Lyra and her friends.
SEVENTH YEAR~ 2048 - 2049
That summer, Vespera sent most of the summer with Sona, and with Verine the potioneer. Ves loved Son’a mom, and her life advice. In particular, she had strong advice toward mending the friendship that had been non-existent with Ves and Rion. This led to Ves going to Rion, and actually apologizing sincerely. Things would remain a little awkward between the two, but they were on speaking terms at least.
During the year, Vespera was studying almost non-stop. She needed to pass her NEWTs to become a healer. However, there was one girl who was making it difficult, Aidene Kieran. Aidene was the cutest, and after much flirtatious talking, the two began to date. Ves began helping out as a healer in Fite Club, partially to spend time with Aidene, partially to get some small healing practice. Ves ended the year with passing grades in her NEWTs, but with even more confusion on how her relationship with Aidene would be easily continued as Aidene was still in school and Ves was in healer training.
POST-GRADUATION [July 2049: Healer in training with nowhere to live] Ves spent the first part of her summer exhausted. She had gotten into the program at St. Mungos, but that included a lot of intern work. On her days off, she spent all her time looking for a new place to live. Sure, she could live at home with her mom, but she was an adult, she couldn’t live with mom forever. She had hoped to visit Aidene, after looking at apartments all day, but stopped for lunch first instead. She stopped in to see Orion, got super drunk, and got super sick. She was later told that she had confused her situation to Orion’s friend, who proceeded to tell Rion. Rion invited her to stay with him, and she accepted the offer.
[December 2050: We’re over] Vespera and Aidene barely saw each other in between school and work, and Aidene being a vampire? They had come to the mutual agreement that their relationship wasn’t going anywhere, but they would remain friends. Overall, it was a nice relationship and the two girls had enjoyed each other’s company, but alas some things weren’t meant to be.
[February 7th, 2051: We’re only friends] Vespera and Rion got super drunk. They had been playing a game, with the stakes of the game being every time you said the word “Loser” you had to take a shot. This became their new favorite past-time, and they often ended the night drunk, and woke up the next morning asleep next to each other.
[July 2055: You’re a Healer Ves] Ves had completed her many years of training to become an official healer, specializing in pediatrics. She couldn’t believe it - she was actually an adult now.
[January 20th, 2057: Need to Leave] Ves needed to move on with life, to let Orion be his own man, maybe find him a nice girl. Sawyer had said he had a girl in his sights, Ves didn’t want to be in the way of that. Plus - she needed to stop their routine of drinking and sleeping together. This would be it. She was going to start looking for new places to live.
[January 22nd, 2057: A Full Moon] Ves mentioned to Rion that she was going to move out. He had come upstairs during lunch and had seen her packing, it was inevitable that she would have to tell him then. He panicked and left - great their friendship ruined again.
[January 23rd, 2057: Marry Me] Rion panic because Ves is moving out? Clearly the solution is to ask the girl to marry him. Ves, equally crazy - said yes. They had waited long enough, they would rush this engagement, especially after not dating.
[February 11th, 2057: I do] Rion and Ves had a very small wedding, that had a fantastic after-party hosted by Sawyer.
[February 19th, 2057: Oh s**t] It was a full moon again, but. That meant. Ves was super late. She remembered the last full moon, every week between then...and she hadn't had her time of the month once. She was pregnant - and it had to be Rions. Now everyone was going to think they had a shotgun wedding because she was pregnant - rude.
[August 18th, 2057: Parenthood] Ves and Rion welcomed a healthy little girl - Winifred Laurelae Lane.
[May 20th, 2058: Death] Ves said goodbye to her mother, who passed away. It was hard but also not the worst part of Vet's life.
[2059: Adulting] Adulting was hard, being a parent was hard, but Ves wouldn't trade it in for anything else. She was especially lucky that being in pediatrics she knew when to worry and when not to worry over her kid. She had such a great support system with her in-laws and the super seven. They had many playdates and group meetings for how to raise the kids, and it was all just, such a nice time.
