*****Time can tell*****

Once there was a great vampyre. One who had claimed a great deal of earth. Ruling over the humans as if they were slaves or mere pets to him. He ruled like this for ages slicing down anyone who opposed him. That was at least until he met one human who intrigued him greatly. The vampyre fell in love with the human and per the human's request changed what he had been doing. He stopped killing people for no reason and allowed most of his land to be divided up.

Eventually the vampyre turned his human mate and they lived happily for a long while. Together they watched the human race go through many advancements. Leaving them be except to feed. And for the most part the humans left them alone. That's was until one day. Both had been out to feed when the vampyre received a distress call from his mate. The vampyre got there in time to watch his mate be shot.

Angry beyond all reason the vampyre launched into a rage massacring anyone with a mile radius and then some. He stayed in the rage for days laughing as he killed each person. But he hurt terribly knowing somehow through the rage that killing all the people would not bring his mate back. It took some of his kind restraining him to bring him out of the rage. When he was brought back he fled knowing what he had done. He was filled with regret and grief. Much time has passed since then and the vampyre has been living this whole time almost just passing through life not paying attention. That is until one day when he sees the form of his mate, reborn.

The driftwood tavern wasn’t much of anything other than a place to be during the day, and a fountain of booze when he needed. Since he had purchased it last year when he moved into the area. Alex hadn’t changed much about it other than the way it was managed, which to the delight of shadier residents in the small town of white pine bay, was practically not at all. Alex paid little mind to the business that was conducted there night by night, the fights that would break out, the investigators who would come by. As far as he was concerned he never saw or knew about a thing that went on in his own business. And in exchange, he found that the small tavern was well funded despite the slim traffic that came though. Due to the various rumors about the events that transpired within the walls of the tavern, the unexplained missing persons incidents, and the few deaths, it wasn’t the preferred bar for the average local.
Alex sat behind the counter, a tall unmarked tinted dark open bottle rested loosely within the grasp of one of his hands, with his other arm serving as a cushion for his head on the countertop, a large shot glass rested on the counter directly in front of where he was resting his head. His emerald gaze more or less fixed on the gentle movements of the liquid inside caused by the vibrations of counter top as couple of men had begun to quarrel, one throwing the other out of their seat.
Something about someone not paying up.

His head felt a bit hazy, after his third drink from the bottle. He didn’t care for the taste, he simply liked how it seemed to make time go by faster during the night, without him having to think much about it. He didn’t have to worry about the long term effects that would slowly kill a regular human, it was a fine way to cope with the negativity in his head. It wasn’t until someone came crashing against the counter, the glass in front of him knocking over, spilling the remainder of its contents, that he finally acknowledged the situation, seeing several tables and chairs had been either knocked over or broken “Hey… Gentleman…I think we’ll have to close early today.” He said lazily as he got to his feet, pushing himself up off the counter, sitting the glass upright again. The haze he had felt vanished almost instantly; it couldn’t take him if he didn’t let it.

Apparently he hadn’t spoken loud enough because the two men were still going at it.
Alex was over the counter in a second his leg catching the nearest body to him, kicking him back as he then landed on his feet on the other side of the counter. The first man was down “I don’t think he heard, but you did yeah? Time to get out.

User ImageFrustration, that's what she felt. For a couple weeks now she had had missing people and a few deaths only one of which had been explained. The people in the small town she watched over were getting antsy with the missing people alone, now that there were a few deaths it was growing worse and she knew she had to find answers. It was why even as the Sheriff, Alexsandra was out in the evening asking questions to the less reputable places of her town. So far her search had turned up nothing hence the mounting frustration. She tossed her braided blond hair off her shoulder as she moved towards The Driftwood Tavern. It was a place she hadn't been in before and as far as she knew it had only opened the year before, but she knew that at least two of the missing people had visited the location.

She sighed as she approached the door to the tavern hearing a slight commotion within. She had not really wanted to deal with a bar fight this evening, it was going to distract from her mission. Sighing again she pushed open the door to go in to see what she assumed was the bar keep launching over the bar and kicking one of those she assumed were fighting before telling the other to get out. She stepped out of the way as the second man bolted from the tavern. "Ummmm...." she muttered unsure what to do. Jumping over the bar and kicking the man seemed like quite a feat for a barkeep. She knew she could have done it but she always seemed a bit better than most of her peers and she made sure she stayed that way.

Truthfully, Alex couldn’t care less if people wanted to kill each other underneath his roof. It was the mess he’d have to clean up later that got on his nerves. Some time ago he’d of been in the right mind to make them pay for the damages with their lives, but now was a different time. He watched the man scramble out of the bar in fear to some content as he then looked down to the other who hadn’t moved an inch since he was downed.
He was more or less sure the man was still breathing, and that aside someone else had gripped this attention quite a bit with her entry alone. “Sheriff.” He said; his voice soft, smooth and dusted with a hint of amusement at her being here. Something about her fascinated him, though she didn’t seem to be any different from any of the other detectives and officers he’d encountered, yet he always found her presence to be something of a delight when he spotted her around town.

Alex nudged the man with his foot, thankfully hearing a groan from the man who stirred some on the hardwood flooring, his footsteps causing certain floorboard to creek a bit as he casually made his way around the counter the proper way, rather than scaling it “I was just cleaning up a little for the night…” he said as he retrieved a rag from beneath the counter to clean up the spill from his drink.

He wore a plain white button up shirt with a black vest over that, black pants to match. The typical get up for a bartender, minus the tie; he didn’t like them enough to remember that it was supposed to be part of the outfit.

User ImageAlexandra looked to the barkeep as he called out to her. His voice was soft and smooth something that made her uneasy. People like that tended to be smooth talkers for a reason, most of the time they had something to hide. Something they might be doing wrong, the amusement in his voice only made her more suspicious. Watching the man nudge the one he had kicked unconscious with his foot she gave a glare. "I noticed, should I call someone to take it all the way out?" she questioned watching as the man moved back to the counter to grab a rag. She however stepped further into the building closing the door behind her.

She herself wasn't wearing the typical kind of uniform a cop wore at this time. She had come out to do some investigating so instead of her normal uniform she was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with a beige coat over it. She thought she would be more approachable that way. That those who wouldn't normally talk to a cop would feel more at ease because she wasn't in uniform. "I came here though with some questions. Have you heard or do you know anything about the people who have gone missing in town?" she asked. She was never one to beat around the bush with questioning. She thought it was a waste of time especially when she needed answers quickly.

Once the spill was wiped down for the most part, Alex would turn to the sink at the far end of the counter, soaking the rag and wringing most of the water out of it before wiping down the counter again before replacing the rag in its spot beneath the counter. He would then cap the bottle tightly, storing it away next to many other variously colored bottles on the shelf exchanging it for several brand named bottles which he set on the counter. “That might be a good idea, I think he had a bit much tonight. I’m sure he’ll be back tomorrow anyhow, you know how they are, hm Sheriff?

Alex grabbed a clean curvy glass and set it down on the counter alongside the bottle he had brought out. His brow furrowed a bit as he seemed to give her question some considerable thought, resting the table as he was silent a couple seconds “Missing people in White Pine Bay..Mn..” he said slowly in thought “Who’s missing exactly?” He asked as he then resumed crafting an iced Hurricane, topping the beverage with two maraschino cherries and an orange wedge skewered together with the orange slice lodged onto the rim of the glass. After which he would slide the glass over to the edge of the counter closest to the seat in front of him as he would then take a seat behind the counter again “From the gentleman over there.” Alex, said nodding to the man on the ground who had slowly begun to come to.

User ImageAlexsandra nodded when the man said it would probably be a good idea to call for someone to get the drunkard. She whiped out her phone and called for someone. It took her less than two minutes to do it and then her phone was back in her pocket. "Yes I do know how they are, troublesome bunch." she muttered. "Different people are missing. A woman who works at a salon on Hitma street, a young man with his parents missing him and two men who have been known to frequent bars and have been seen here." Aleksandra stated with a serious look to the man. She didn't like that the man was crafting drinks right in front of her and sliding it down the counter to the end seat. She stared at the man as he sat down not sure what he thought she was going to do about the drink. He hoped he didn't think she would drink it, especially not while she was on he job.

"Have you heard or seen anything. Perhaps seen at least the two men?" she asked stepping forward and removing pictures of the missing people and placing them on the counter.

Alex would nod in feigned interest as Alexsandra listed the missing persons; the image of each person coming to mind; some of which none other than he was responsible before directly, the rest of which he was an accessory to. But if anything, he was more interested in the drink he had just made and what she would do with it; if anything he simply aimed to keep her there longer than really needed.
He would sigh lightly when his offer wasnt entertained; his expression running parallel of one who would who would be pained from a such a serious case "Sounds like a real tragedy.." He would say, as he rested his face against the heel of his palm looking down at the pictures she presented to him for a couple moments before meeting her gaze "Im not a seasoned member of this business or anything, but if I had to offer my best guess I'd say those men found themselves crossing paths with the wrong people."

User ImageSomething about Alex's expression made Alexandra suspicious it just didn't sit right with her. "It is a tragedy and it can be worse if I don't solve this problem." Alexandra stated frown still on her face. That look only darkened when Alex made mention of the two men and how they must have crossed paths with the wrong people. "I don't suppose you would know where the wrong people might be found?" she questioned.

His facial expression would seemingly resemble the opposite of hers, seemingly on purpose. To be fair she was the most interesting person in the small lazy town; and the icing on the cake was that she was to be some kind of authority figure. Those were always the most entertaining to be around, on his good days anyway.
Why don’t you have a seat Sheriff” he said, gesturing to the seat with the drink in front of it, he said as he stood from his seat on the stool behind the counter, coming around from the bar to the man who was still more or less asleep on the floor. Alastor hoisted him up over his shoulder, carrying him to the front entrance as a whaling siren could be heard approaching in the distance. Red and blue lights could be seen flashing outside moments later after which he would meet the EMTs at the door giving them a nod and brief explanation as to what the problem was; by this point they were familiar faces. It was typical for them to have to pick up a drunk or two every week or so.

Alastor then turned back to his establishment, letting himself back inside.
How long have you been in charge of this town?

User Image Aleksandra almost gave a annoyed sigh when the man gestured to the seat with the drink, asking her to have a seat. She moved to the seat seeing as that seemed to be the only way she would get answers to her questions but she didn't touch the drink. She was on duty and drinking was not allowed, it didn't matter that she was the sheriff as was the top. Rules were rules and she would follow them, it was the only way to keep order. She watched as the bar keep carried the unconscious man to the door to be picked up by those that came to grab him on her say so. She waited until the man came back asking her about how long she had been in charge of the town. "Tell you what you answer my questions i'll answer yours. Trade off one for one until one of us doesn't have questions anymore." she offered.
