She grit her teeth, not budging as the spikes flew past, leaving a few cuts and gouges that hissed and sizzeled as they seared shut. She was going to hurt tomorrow, no bones about it. Her attention however was on Dethblade, shed manage to be successful on blocking the first attack but the force of had knocked her back and she froze as she watched the blade make a beeline for her throat...then stop. She waited as Dethblade moved back before breathing an inward sigh of relief.
Turning to face the shouting Cross and pleading child she tilted her head, eyeing him oddly. "I don't think you can trust him. Take what he considers a tool away and he seems to get distracted." A flame licked out at Crosses back, testing the field to check his reaction and barrier. "Oh, and i don't trust him far as i can throw him, so there's that." She explained dully.

Dethblade took to mind Adelaide's words, carefully examining the situation. After a moment he'd hold out his hand and summon forth a crow from seemingly nothing, which would then fly to Cross and begin to circle around him. "Sadist Cross. You've lost. Surely you can see that?"
"Just what in the hell makes you think this battle is over? There's---" Cross began before being silenced by the squawk of the odd crow.
"At my current power I could end this at any given moment. I am being nothing if not entirely kind letting you converse with us. Allow me to demonstrate." With a snap of his fingers, the crow would burst into flurry of hundreds of razor- sharp feathers, each of which would assault the "princess" and skewer her until the cries of pain ceased. "That was one crow. Care to see what I can do with one thousand?"
Cross looked with terror to the lifeless, mutilated corpse of the girl he had been scolding. He'd rise to his feet and turn to face the duo, noticing that Dethblade now moved to stand with Adelaide. "...what do you want, Dethblade? As you said, you win...that syringe was cheap trick, be effective." His eyes would then divert to Adelaide. "...she really was just a little girl, you know." He spoke with a smirk. "When I found out she was gifted, I blackmailed her parents into forcing her into my service...and then I forced her to kill them. To kill for me, until her mind broke from the continued mental, and physical torment. Death was a mercy to her, but the fact remains that you blinded and innocent little girl. That's cold."
"Enough." Dethblade spoke. "Your contracts are now forfeit to me. You will transfer each one of them to me, you will summon forth each servant and explain the situation and introduce me to them. You will then teach me the magecraft behind obtaining contracts. Am I clear?"
Cross stared for a moment, then laughed. "You're funny! Let's pretend for a second that were even possible. Why would I? To save my life? This magecraft comes from circuits born of my body, the mana I wield." Cross would hold up his tattooed arm and grin, flexing his fingers. "I'm not going to grant you the satisfaction of..." Cross would then feel an incredible pain at his shoulder, and his arm would seem to simply vanish. Looking across the way at the duo, he'd notice Dethblade holding a new appendage.
"Understood. I no longer require your explanations. I'll dissect the secrets of this arm myself." Dethblade spoke while flinging his sword through the air to whip the blood from the blade. "Adelaide, I have what I want. Even with a single arm he's still a powerful foe, though I doubt he can last much longer. Kill him. Enslave him. Bind him and turn him in. Name your goal and I will aid you as thanks for aiding me."
Cross held his wound and caused a magnetic surge to cauterize his own wound, sweat pouring from him now as he closed one eye, finding it more and more difficult to concentrate. "Don't kill me yet...I can still be useful to you..."

Adelaide stood by Dethblade, close enough that he probably realized the air around her was rapidly cooling off. She'd watched the crows take out the girl quickly, and hadn't moved to stop him, didn't even flinch. "I'm a lot of things Cross, cold isn't one of them." She closed her eyes and sighed, listening to the options Dethblade laid out.
She opened one eye and looked up as the two bickered. She raised a brow and tilted her head as the arm was retrieved though. "What do you intend to do with that, I wonder?" she mused aloud then looked back over at Cross for a long moment. "You'll probably want him around til you get things figured out with that arm. I hate to say it, but keeping him alive and close would be your best option." She pointed out.
She turned, facing her back to Cross and looking at Dethblade, without his mask still. "We need to go though, or your going to have one less set of hands to help you here very soon." she explained, keeping her voice low. It was getting hard to hide the involuntary twitching and spasming in the muscles of her body as the heat was exhausted from her. The rapid heating and cooling had it's effects on her, and she was in for a world of hurt after pushing the limits. "We need to go." she said firmly.

Dethblade looked from the writhing Cross to the exhausted Adelaide, simply smiling. He'd place his hand to his face and from a swirling vortex would form a new mask, this one a bit different than the last. This mask, jet black in color, was more in the shape of a raven than a skull. His voice, once more distorted would then ring out. "The battle has concluded. Sadist Cross, know this: one act of defiance and I'll see your head removed from your shoulders and place it atop a pike for the galaxy to behold. That being said, I wish to make something abundantly clear to you both: you are now partners."
Cross slowly moved towards the duo, taking in Dethblade's words. They were cruel, but he would nod in affirmation. Once he was assigned a partner, however, he'd look to his new boss with furrowed brows, then to Adelaide. "This hot-headed woman hellbent on my destruction is to be my partner?" He clarified.
"Correct. Furthermore, though you shall work together, Adelaide is to be considered your superior. You will treat her as such at all times. And Adelaide, you are this man's keeper, as you chose to let him live." Dethblade then opened a portal directly to the infirmary. "Come. Tend to your wounds." He then stepped through.
Cross looked to Adelaide with a glare...then sighed and released his tension. "Ladies first."
