XXX It was rare to truly have a day off, but this was one of the few days Astraea always requested to be free for the day. After all, it was her daughter's birthday, and it was important to her that she was present! She'd spent the morning preparing Evelyn's cake, which was of the angel food variety, and layered with strawberries and whipped cream. Currently it was boxed up neatly, sitting on a small table that had been draped with a simple tablecloth and adorned with fresh flowers. "You know, you didn't have to help me set up. You're supposed to be enjoying your day, not working!" Turning to the young woman, she smiled at her, moving to set her wrapped gift on a separate table. Honestly, Evelyn had done a lot of the work for this, which was strange because she recalled the times when the girl had been younger and she and Galand had been completely in charge of all the birthday decisions. "Who did you settle on inviting, anyway?" Astraea had left the guest list up to her, since it was her day to celebrate. All she had done was help prepare some food and make the cake, a task made obvious by the fact that she still had flour clinging to her clothing.
"It's absolutely fine! I mean, you only turn 20 once right? Plus I've always wanted to plan my own birthday party." The young woman was busy hanging up streamers and tossing confetti about the space in which they were using for the whole gathering. She paused and leaned against the wall, "Well I've actually already sent all the invitations out. So it's a surprise I guess? Whoever shows up gets cake after all. Who doesn't love cake?" She smiled and laughed, placing table decorations out and admiring her handiwork. "Regardless of whether they come or not, at least I have you for sure." Today was going to be a day for the history books, Evelyn had already picked out the dress she was going to wear for tonight and was looking forward to putting it on. She was lucky enough to get permission to leave for the night, thanks to Astraea and she was going to enjoy it to the fullest. Everything was all good and ready, all that was left was for the pair to get dressed to impress and then await the arrival of their guests.
