Hawkeye Shiki
"Gills are a way that allowed you to breathe underwater but when you swim, take in a deep breathe and hold it in your lungs. But you do need to return to the surface in order to refresh yourself. You know how you saw me swam? Alternating arms and legs, however it is possible for humans to swim like you Kyl. Though we can't go as fast with out fins attached our feet." Hawkeye laughed.
Hawkeye noticed that Kyl's knees where a little too close to each other, it is possible to hold ones position while on hands and knees like that. "Kyl, make yourself a little more stable. Align your knee." Pointing to his own. "To your hip." Indicating to the outside pelvis region. "The ground itself would feel more sable and a lot less wobbly."

Kyl
Kyl listened as Hawkeye told him what his gills were for but he had known that they allowed him to breathe under the water. The problem was that now that he didn't have them what was he supposed to do, he could breath above water but the water was his home. He nodded when the man reminded him of how the scientist had swam, he wasn't sure that he could swim like the human had. "You have fins that can attach to your feet? Do you have things like gills too?" Kyl questioned feeling bits of hope that he could return to the water.
Kyl looked back to Hawkeye when the man called to him giving him advice to make his crawling more stable. He watched what the man meant and emulated it aligning his knee with his hips. He was glad to find that it was much more stable and a bit easier to crawl before. It still felt odd to him to have his legs far apart when he was used to them being one thing, but he felt more comfortable crawling.

Hawkeye Shiki
Hawkeye laughed. "As for gills, we have to use a breathing apparatus to supply the oxygen we need if we are to go into great depths. And they come in a variety. When we first met, that is what we call a pressurized dive suit. I could explain the complexities but that would take hours. The other is a submersible. I can sit in a large bubble and observe, its tethered with a supply cable or it has tanks that can give a supply."
Thinking it would be fun, he stuck his thumb into his mouth and pointed a finger upwards along the side of his face. "This tool I am mimicking is called a snorkel, it allows us to float on the surface face down to get a constant supply. Not my favorite to use cause if a wave comes along it gets into the pipe and down into your mouth then your spitting it out from the shock." He shook his head. "There are a whole lot more out there, more for another time."
"Seems that you are getting a control on crawling."

Kyl
Kyl tilted his head listening to Hawkeye as the man described the things that he and others like him used to breath within the water. He came to understand the strange things he had seen among the snow coral when he hadn't known that it was Hawkeye there. "How deep can you go into the water with those things?" Kyl questioned wondering if Hawkeye would be able to go deep enough to see his home. Or maybe that he could use them to go home if he never changed back to himself. He looked far more confused when Hawkeye did the strange thing with his hand describing another breathing aparatus that Hawkeye could use but only on the surface of the water. Nodding when he was told there were even more things that allowed him to breath underwater but that it was for later. He definately wanted to know more about Hawkeye's world, more than just about the breathing aparatus'. He was starting to realize that he might be able to see Hawkeye's world while he looked like him and that made him not mind the change in form so much.
"It is easier to move now that you told me more. But I thought we were learning how to walk, not... crawl?" Kyl questioned.

Hawkeye Shiki
Hawkeye laughed. "Crawling, is the first step in learning how to walk. When humans are about this small," indicating with his hands the height of a toddler. "We begin to learn how to walk by "crawling." That is what you are doing right now. But each human at the size has other methods of "crawling" that can be used to get around till we can stand on two legs, but each of those methods does help in the development needed to walk."
He patted Kyl's head. "By showing each of these methods, you can find the one that best suits you and makes it easier to move about."
He could sense a homesickness in Kyl. "Each apparatus has a limitation. However, the depths of the ocean were much lower so long ago, now that they are so high, it is still dangerous for us to go below a certain depth. Our lives are precious and in good faith and integrity, breaking the limits of what can protect us is dire. The day we first meet, I broke one such rule but that rule was infractioned by the cause of elemental factors, I nearly suffocated and you helped me, you saved me. So thank you."

Kyl
Kyl looked confused when Hawkeye laughed, he didn't know what he had done to cause that and he sat up to watch the man. "Like younglings?" Kyl questioned when Hawkeye explained that small humans crawled before walking. "How many steps do I have to work through before walking?" Kyl questioned, he wasn't sure he liked waiting so long when he was similar size to Hawkeye. Blinking at the pat to his head he nodded when he was explained that they would find a form of movement that worked for him.
Being told that each aparatus had its limitations had Kyl suddenly worrying he wouldn't ever be able to see his home again. He was surprised to hear that he had saved Hawkeye when he had first encountered him within the snow coral. "You broke a rule, so did I. I was never supposed to be that far away from home and never supposed to go so high in the snow coral. But i did and I kept doing that to find you, watch you and then the storm got me when I followed you back. And you saved me when I couldn't breath." Kyl smiled at the man. They had saved each other when both had gotten into trouble for breaking rules. It was a very amusing thing to Kyl to know that. "Thank you too, for saving me." Kyl finally thanked.
