What is their personality like?
Alistair is not exactly the religious fanatic that many from the Order are. In fact he is a rather moderate man in that regard. He approaches most things with a generally optimistic outlook and believes that the work he does is making the world a safer place. At his core he wants to help people, not kill monsters and that is probably what differentiates him from the other hunters the most. Alistair is friendly to most and becomes increasingly more playful as things get worse in order to help himself cope.
What are they capable of?
Alistair is one of the better vampire hunter's of his generation and The Order of the Dragon has recognized that. Alistair possess great skill with a sword, bow, crossbow, and in many forms of hand to hand combat. When he joined the Order he sought only to kill immortals and so he took the Oath of Vengeance. Years later he learned a more true meaning behind it and discovered his ability to summon fire from the tattoo on his left hand. Being creative, he got the tattoo on his right palm as well. The fire he summons bears a white flame making him one of the more powerful users of his skills. Alistair has never been able to enchant anything larger than a motorcycle with his magic flames.
Aside from his combat skills, Alistair has mastered a few mundane arts in order to help himself become a better hunter. Pickpocketing, escape artistry, and sleight-of-hand were the most entertaining to learn and so he became very good at them. He also learned a lot about how to move through locations undetected and control his heart rate. As any hunter would need to be- he is a great detective and tracker.
What is their backstory?
Alistair spent his youth learning to kill monsters and more than enough of his adulthood actually doing it. His parents were fanatical members of the Order of the Dragon and they raised Alistair in hopes he would share their convictions. They were unfortunate to find their son was not as willing to hunt down what he saw as living beings. Nonetheless after about three years hunting with his parents he discovered that they were very right about vampires. He was taken to places where the immortals were most feral and he was taught to fight them using those who had descended to the status of ghoul. Alistair was convinced that ghouls were what all vampires became and he saw the devastation ghouls could have. Alistair swore an Oath of Vengeance when he came of age and dedicated himself to punishing evil as his parents had wanted but his definition of evil never quite lined up with their own. In his professional career Alistair stopped both the Chicago Crisis of 2013 and the Red Dawn of 2015. Since then he has continued to work successfully as a vampire hunter and mystic.
