The Dead Vampire's Society
It is a story as old as time. Dracula was struck with immortality and a holy man came to destroy him. Van Hellsing failed to ultimately kill Dracula and so he created an organization of vampire hunters who utilize holy symbols as their weapon against the immortals. Today they continue their hunt all around the world. Their primary training facility is located on an island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean that they were forced to flee to when Dracula attempted to exterminate them. Would-be hunters are recruited from all around the world and brought here to train. They learn secret codes and function in as much discretion as vampires do. Once their training is complete they are sent back out into the world to rid it of the immortal menace. This group is presently lead by Alexander Van Hellsing, descendant of Abraham Van Hellsing who founded the group. He has taken them into a more modern route and incorporated various technologies into the society member's training. The technologies primarily focus on utilizing ultraviolet light as a weapon and they have successful begun to produce ultraviolet bullets and a serum to temporarily enhance their bodies.
The Order of the Dragon
Vlad Dracul, the man who would become Dracula, achieved a lot of his power through the aid of a Catholic Knight Order known as The Order of the Dragon. Once Vlad became Dracula the knights realized their mistake but it was too late. Out of shame they disbanded until thirty years later when it became apparent that the vampire menace would only grow worse. The Order of the Dragon reformed with the singular goal to purge vampires from the earth. Where The Dead Vampires Society utilize technology and numbers to even the playing field against immortals the Order of the Dragon utilizes holy symbols and some magic. All members swear a certain oath at the beginning of their training and they are taught to channel divine power through themselves to combat vampires. You are less likely to find a hunter with a gun in this group as the members have a preference of older styles.
The Order of the Dragon Oaths
Like vampires, The Order of the Dragon have specific skills that can be gained by dedicating themselves to a certain practice. these practices are called oaths among The Order of the Dragon.
Oath of the Ancients: Hunters who swear this oath are frequently the more kind and friendly of the bunch. They believe that their work is done to make the world better and to help preserve and strengthen good. This oath grants the hunter's who swear beneath it the ability to summon spectral vines (they can only go out to ten feet from the hunter), project a beam of sunlight in a forty foot cone from their channeling item of choice (generally a sword, pendant, or bow), and they can place wards on locations to prevent vampires from entering.
Oath of Conquest: Hunters who swear this oath are not all that removed from the monsters they hunt in most cases. The oath is strengthened by a fanatical belief that power is the leading force in the world and the powerful should not be questioned. To them, hunting vampires is about asserting dominance over them. A blade will kill a vampire but fear will destroy their breed. This oath grants hunters the ability to summon a nearly endless arsenal of spectral weapons to utilize in combat against vampires as well as the ability to channel magic through their physical body to enhance it to a vampire's physical levels. The oath enhances the strength of the hunter based upon need and devotion.
Oath of the Crown: The hunters who swear this oath are typically devoted to upholding the law and the ideals of truth and justice. They hunt vampires because at the end of the day vampires hurt people in order to feed. This oath grants hunters very few offensive abilities and instead grants them the power to compel truth from individuals seeking to hide it as well as the ability to summon spectral shields but not weapons.
Oath of Devotion: Hunters who swear this oath are generally the most religious of the hunters. They draw their power from their devotion to God and their righteous mission to hunt and smite all of the evil that vampire's are. This oath grants hunters the ability to imbue their weapons with holy power (allowing it to bypass most vampire defenses and disciplines), purge vampiric influences from their mind, and the power to radiate a light like the sun from their body for about ten seconds before they generally pass out or get drowsy.
Oath of Redemption: This is a path for those hunters who seek to right a wrong they caused. It is the hardest path because the only thing limiting the hunter is the hunter's own mind. Redemption is not a path for the light of heart. This oath grants hunters with a unique curse. It turns their blood toxic to vampires. Those who feed from it will often become sick and if they are not old enough, may even die immediately. Any vampires who come in contact with it are burned as if the blood were the worst acid imaginable. The effect can temporarily be passed to others if the hunter's blood ends up in their system.
Oath of Vengeance: Despite it's name and tenants, the oath of vengeance is not entirely a dark path. It is true that many hunters seek this path for revenge against and immortal who hurt them and they are often the hunters who brood around with anger and hatred in their heart as well as a malevolent desire to watch immortals burn. However there are those who have chosen to see the Oath of Vengeance as a promise to always fight the greater evil. They see the oath as a guiding light that helps them determine what is truly evil and what is simply cursed. These are the hunters who find the most strength in the oath. This oath grants hunters the ability to manipulate fire through magic. They can enchant their weapons with holy flame and project a fifteen foot cone of it from whichever hand bears the mark of their oath. The fire burns at different colors depending on the mastery of the hunter using it. Hunters of this oath also have the ability to magically extinguish any flame.
Oath of Treachery: Those hunters that seek the path of treachery are those who seek clever escapes and traps rather than honorable fights. Or perhaps they are simply hunters who knew the power they would gain by swearing the oath. This oath grants hunters the ability to cast minor illusions that can not exceed the size of a car and the power to temporarily turn invisible (about a minute).
Oathbreaker: No hunter can turn their back on the oath they swore without consequence by neither can that power merely be taken away once the hunter has mastered it. Those who seek penance may be able to restore their original skills but those who do not find themselves deeply changed.
