G'non took a long, slow inhale and exhaled in a slow breath. "Well, you never did much care for me, so I guess that was just in line with what you thought of me to begin with. I appreciate the apology though, Terei. Thanks."
Io grinned and, chuckling, she softly shushed the boy's excitement. "Shh, it'll be out secret, okay? Until I'm ready to share, it'll be for just us two." She cleared her throat and dropped her voice to a whisper. "While I am happy to be friends with your dad, I do like him, maybe even love him, but he doesn't know. He's been missing your mom and I've been there to help him feel better, being his friend. Our secret now, yeah?" She held up a hand with a pinky extended. "Pinky swear?"

"I didn't mind you, until she started seeing you. I guess it clouded my judgement." He rubbed the back of his neck. "You lost her too. We would've been brothers, if things had gone differently."
Tarel didn't think that kind of secret should remain secret. If she liked Daddy, then didn't that make her Momma? "Daddy! I found a new Momma, you gotta marry her!"

"Yeah, we could have. You didn't give me a chance." He sniffed. "I had lost her and didn't know really until the boy wrote me."
Io paused midstep, her face turning a vibrant shade of red as she seemed to shrink into her shoulders some. Oh. Well then. That secret was kept secret for all of two seconds. She tittered, hiding her face in her free hand. She walked on towards the kitchens with a bit of a quicker pace to her step. "Man, oh, man, I sure am looking forward to that redfruit juice. Nice big glass, eh, Tarel?" She chuckled and cleared her throat.
The outburst from in front of them drew G'non's attention to Tarel's yelling. He blinked and stifled a laugh by biting down on his lower lip. From back where he was walking, Io looked mighty embarrassed by the suggestion. Marry Io? "You've taken a shine to Io, have you, Tarel?"

Terei wrapped an awkward arm around G'non. "I'm so sorry," he muttered. It was an awkward hug. "I should have written you. I thought..." His shoulders shook, and he only looked up when he heard Tarel.
"Lots of redfruit juice," Tarel agreed. He looked to G'non and Terei. "I love her," he announced. "I love you," he added, more softly, to Io. "Let's get pies now!"
