The following night after the No Way Out pay-per-view, on Monday Night WAR, the crowd was hyped to finally have passed the last stop on the road to Wrestlemania. The showcase of Immortals was near and Wrestlemania season was sizzling hot, many great matches were going to unfold, rivalries were about to reach their boiling point and dreams were about to be either shattered or made come true. One thing was certain: the fans were going to have a hell of a show. In the back, Edge was seen walking to the gorilla position, in casual gear. He'd be sporting a leather jacket and denim jeans, a casual attire. The Rated-R Superstar, ready, waited for his theme song to come on.
"...You think you know me?"
'Metalingus' by Alter Bridge came on, the entrance song being met by a chorus of boo's. The crowd's disapproval of Edge was due to what transpired at No Way Out, when Edge attacked AJ Styles after their match, and subsequently attacked the man named Sting. The Rated-R Superstar had done these fiendish actions without any explanation at all. The look in his eyes had changed the moment he began attacking his targets. Edge walked out, concentrating on the ring, not paying attention to the crowd that started booing even louder once they saw him. Edge walked down the ramp, sliding his hair back, without the serious look on his face. Edge was ready to explain the reason why he attacked the Stinger after Sting had announced his retirement. The Ultimate Opportunist would slide in, he sprung up and immediately asked for a microphone, which he was handed. Edge, standing in the center of the ring, would look around, a stern look on his face, as he waited for his theme song to die down. Once his theme song had finished playing, the Rated-R Superstar would raise the microphone near his lips.
"I know what you're all wondering..." Edge said, referring to the crowd, who'd boo him very loudly. He lowered his microphone for a second.
"I know what you're all wondering: 'Edge, why'd you do it? Why'd you attack Styles? Why'd you attack Sting?'... I have my reasons. Before I begin, let me be clear: AJ, nothing personal. You were only the wrong person in the wrong place, at the wrong time."
The crowd would boo Edge for accepting that he attacked Styles for no real reason.
"Now, onto a more important subject: Sting. Ever since I came back, I've really only had one objective on my mind that's been bugging me every single time I come out here. Six years ago, Sting and I had our second match, in which I came out on top. I evened the score with him. Ever since that match, which many thought to be my last, Sting had mostly been hiding. Now that I've finally returned, he decides to come out of hiding, fails to win the Royal Rumble, and decides he's leaving this business for good, KNOWING that our score has yet to be settled. To me, him trying to leave without even mentioning our rematch was a damn slap to the face!"
Intensely, Edge begin to circle the ring while talking.
"I don't care about the gold. Sting, you and I both know that we're currently the most coveted veterans in the squared circle. You began here, in CWF, and became one of the most dominant heavyweight champions this company has ever known, while I began in GWE, then cemented my legacy in TNWE. No one in this business can even compare their accolades and achievements with ours. Not only will this rematch settle the score, but it'll represent the legacies of each company face off! The legacy of TNWE will face the legacy of the old CWF. This won't be a battle for gold, for contenderships, no, this'll be a battle for pride!"
He'd start looking around once more.
"So, how about it, Sting?! How about we settle this ONCE AND FOR ALL, on the grandest stage of them all?! I know you're not coward enough to reject the match!"
Edge would lower his microphone, pumped up and waiting for an answer.
