- Wind Release (風遁, Fūton, English TV: Wind Style) is one of the five basic nature transformations. Wind Release is the rarest of the five nature transformations, but those who can use it are able to cut through anything. Asuma Sarutobi uses it by channeling wind chakra into his Chakra Blades, making the blades far sharper and giving them greater reach. Wind Release can also be exhaled from the user's mouth, such as to blow away everything in the area, or generated with the user's hands, allowing precision strikes. Although Wind Release has naturally good range and power, it can be further enhanced by compressing it or layering different wind streams together.
Wind Release can easily launch particles into the air, whether to create dust clouds that conceal the user's movements or sand storms that perforate targets. Naruto Uzumaki adds Wind Release to the Rasengan so that he can throw it, as seen with its Rasenshuriken variant. Temari, rather than create winds on her own, instead generates wind by waving her Giant Folding Fan at targets; Temari's summon, Kamatari, rides these wind currents towards her opponents so that it can slice them apart. This practice of using fans to create wind is seemingly common to Sunagakure ninja.
Wind Release is naturally strong against Lightning Release and weak against Fire Release.[5] Wind's weakness to fire makes it an effective way to, when used collaboratively, make flames more powerful.[6] If Wind Release is used with Water Release, as with the Typhoon Water Vortex Technique, the wind churns the water, increasing its damage and coverage area. When Wind Release is combined with other natures, certain kekkei genkai are produced: wind and water make Ice Release; wind and fire make Scorch Release; wind and earth are suggested to make Magnet Release. The combination of wind, earth, and fire produces the kekkei tōta, Dust Release.

xxxThe user exhales wind-infused chakra onto a weapon in order to increase its sharpness, range and lethality. In the case of the kunai, wind-natured chakra, which envelopes the weapon, has a distinctive light green colouring.

xxxAfter gathering chakra in their stomach, the user expels it as a gust of wind. This technique is powerful enough to blow away everything within the user's immediate vicinity. This technique can also be used for supplementary purposes, such as creating a vortex of wind to save a falling ally.

xxxThe user produces a powerful stream of wind from their mouth. This technique was powerful enough to dispel several shadow clones in an instant.

xxxUsing a Giant Folding Fan, the user causes many currents of wind to collide with each other, creating vacuum pockets. On its own, the gust is powerful enough to blow away incoming attacks and knock targets off their feet. If a target should become engulfed in the winds, their body will be carved up by the countless wind blades. The user also can control the form that the winds take, such as by making them into a tornado that lifts targets into the air.

xxxA Wind Release technique where the user either increases their velocity, or by the user clasping their hands together, wind is compressed and transformed into a powerful gale, which has enough force to knock over a person. When used in conjunction with shuriken or kunai, the tools become more lethal as their speed is increased.
✦ Wind Release: Great Breakthrough
xxxThe user breathes wind from their mouth, blowing away whatever is in front of them. The technique itself is quite simple, but its power varies significantly depending on the user's skill and how strong they make the winds
✦ Beast Tearing Palm
xxxA powerful technique of wind nature chakra that can cut and slash through any material. Usually it activates by summoning chakra in the user's right hand, and then swipes a slicing chakra wave which appears to be controlled by the user's will and thoughts.
✦ Nadeshiko-Style Hardliner Gale Fist
xxxBy covering one's own hand with wind-natured chakra, the user attacks the enemy with it. The force of the strike is great enough to produce a powerful shock wave that can cause noticeable fissures without direct contact.
✦ Wind Release: Spiralling Wind Ball
xxxThis technique allows the user to breathe wind-infused chakra into the palm of their hand, shaping it into a small, whirlwind-like ball. Then the user will shoot it at their opponent. This technique seems to be very fast and powerful, as it is capable of smashing through thick rock. They can be launched in rapid succession.

xxxUsing a Giant Folding Fan, Temari causes many currents of wind to collide with each other, creating vacuum pockets. As the wind moves outward from her, it cuts up whatever it comes into contact with and deflects any attacks coming towards her, even sound-based genjutsu. Because of how far the winds travel, this technique is especially useful against opponents that attack from long ranges.
✦ Wind Release: Pressure Damage
xxxA powerful wind technique. This tornado-like mass is compressed until it has a very high density before being released. The blast can hit a vast range, inflicting massive damage on both the target and their close surroundings. This technique can also be combined with the Fire Release: Intelligent Hard Work, to increase the flame's potency in a great scale, causing a massive fire-storm.
✦ Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere
xxxA stronger version of the Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere technique, where the user instead chooses to compress the entirety of the previously inhaled breath into a single large, crushing sphere of wind chakra that they then proceed to expel from their mouth.
✦ Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves
xxxThe user takes a deep breath and exhales several blades of wind at different angles, by rapidly moving their head in various directions. The power of this technique can be dramatically enhanced when utilised in conjunction with the effects of extreme suction.
✦ Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere
xxxThe user takes a deep breath and exhales several small blasts of wind chakra that scatters in different directions, making it very difficult for one to avoid without injury. Due to the properties of this technique, the expelled blasts are capable of piercing into and potentially through an opponent's flesh.
✦ Wind Release: Vacuum Wave
xxxThe user takes a deep breath and spins while exhaling, compressing the released air into a solitary blade of wind that covers a substantial area around the user, due to their circular motion. The resulting sharpened blast is large enough to slice through multiple targets located at a significant distance from the user, causing grievous injuries to those hit.
✦ Beast Tearing Gale Palm
xxxThis technique is somewhat of an enhanced version of the Beast Tearing Palm. It uses chakra to infuse with and condense a mass amount of wind-chakra to form a massive demonic-like claw extending from the user's hand to strike and grab a target, as well as deflect any weapon or attack. Depending on its use, the user can manipulate the size and length of the claw to attack and defend at any range. In addition to making it a deadly weapon, the extending claw also carries tremendous force that can devastate anything in its path without affecting the user, making it useful for dislodging solid and heavy objects.
✦ Wind Release: Verdant Mountain Gale
xxxBy using wind-based chakra, the user can infuse their bladed weapons with it from a distance and manipulate them.
✦ Wind Release: Whirlwind Fist
xxxA technique where the user clads their fist with Wind Release to form somewhat of a typhoon that is a revolving blade of wind. Upon impact against an individual, the technique pierces their body and blows them away with a shock wave.

- ✦ Wind Release: Rasenshuriken
xxxThe Wind Release: Rasenshuriken is a shuriken-shaped variant of the Wind Release: Rasengan. Unlike the Wind Release: Rasengan, additional shape transformation is applied to the Rasenshuriken, creating four large points around the central Rasengan core, giving the appearance of a fūma shuriken. Its four points are very sharp, enough to cut through rock. After travelling a certain distance or colliding with a target that it can't slice through, the central sphere of the Rasenshuriken detonates, producing a vortex of wind in the immediate area. Within this vortex, countless microscopic wind blades are created, so many that even the Sharingan can't count them all. The wind blades damage anything within the vortex on a cellular level, attacking the chakra circulatory system to such a degree that no amount of medical ninjutsu can heal it.
