- - - -How was it that she kept running into the fallen hybrid? How many times would she have to rebuff his advances, break his heart? For a while it seemed like he had taken her last words to heart, moved on and found himself a significant other to pine after instead of her. With how long she'd been gone, surely he'd found other outlets?
But no. Here she was, waiting outside a library, and looking around to see if she could see a sign of him. With every minute that ticked by, her patience wore thinner and thinner. Out here in public, it was too easy to be seen by someone she didn't want to be seen by.
He had five minutes. 121

- - - -Shion had gotten good at getting information. Perks of the family, he supposed, and when he was able to get new on Dianthe, he did all he could to get ahold of her. To talk to her. To see her just one more time. He'd already gotten information on her father, and he wanted to give that to her as soon as possible.
'No'.
Dianthe's final rejection echoed in the back of his head as he spotted her. She'd matured faster than he had it seemed, and it came as no surprise. When someone's childhood was taken from them, they had to grow up fast. He was a lucky one, he figured, to at least have been able to have a small bit of childhood available to him.
"Hey, Dia!" He called as he approached. Not daring any physical affection, he simply walked past to open the library door for her. "It's...good to see you."155

- - - -"Mmnh."
Not feeling like talking just yet, Dianthe nodded in thanks as she walked by and into the library. Thankfully, with how quiet the library was supposed to be, there was little chance there would be much talking. But just in case, she made her way straight to the stairs that led to the more private alcoves where they could speak freely.
"You said you have information." She stated as she sat down on a wooden chair, crossing one leg atop the other. "I hope that wasn't an excuse, Shion." Knowing him, it was in earnest, but she couldn't help but be that little bit doubtful. After all, as she'd learned on her travels, those in lust and love, even younger people, came up with ridiculous lies to try and snare the objects of their affection.136

- - - -Well, he'd tried to make this as pleasant as possible. As much as he still cared for her, it was depressingly clear that she just didn't hold him in the same regard. Not anymore.
"N-no!" He protested, immediately reverting back to his stuttering habits. It was gone for a moment, he'd tried really hard not to, but his nervousness got the better of him. "No, I p-promise. I had to d-do a lot of ch-chores for Ji before h-he let me h-have these."
Sitting down across from Dianthe, he shrugged a small satchel off his shoulder. Setting it down on the small table, he pulled out some papers, a disc, and some sealed tubes that would contain scrolls.
"He's b-been looking for a b-b-business p-partner. And you kn-know what that a-actually means..."132

- - - -"Unfortunately." Her voice dripped with venom as she reached over for one of the paper bundles.
Magical surges. Blank stones going missing and covered up. Partially-imbued stones being picked up and not signed for. Reports of a chimera with hybrid features scouting out stone banks in a suspicious manner. Everything was pointing to Diomed continuing with his endeavors, and yet Dianthe knew for a fact that he had no contact with his existing children...including the one she'd heard absolutely adored him.
"...Thank you, Shion." She said, now reaching for one of the tubes, shaking out the scroll contained. "And you're sure he doesn't know who is getting all this?"109

- - - -Dianthe was pleased. Her tone at first scared him, sent a shiver down his spine, but when she thanked him it seemed like all his worries were washed away. But that's all she wanted from him, and that's all he would get from her. There was no way he could expect any more from her, and he wouldn't try to press for anything else. Except, perhaps, a friendship.
"A-anytime, Dia. N-no, he doesn't. I-if anything, if he f-finds out, N-nar-narcissa can clear th-that up." He smiled as he pulled out a notebook. "I know what it m-means to you to at least kn-know what he's up t-t-to." Flipping through the notebook, he came to a folded page which he then turned to show Dianthe. "A-and I have th-the location of a-at least one of h-his other kids. Th-they're fairly s-safe." Somehow, he'd learned, Diomed had lost the stone and considered it a loss. It was, in his opinion, better than the stone being with him.
"D-do you still want to c-contact that one?"173

- - - -Axel? Shion's information was amazing, and the more she looked through the papers, the more impressed she was. That family of his really did have eyes and ears everywhere, and she was glad that as far as she knew, she was on their good side.
But what to do about Axel? Ryuuko and her siblings were out of her reach, and she hadn't really thought about Axel and his sibling. They seemed to be doing alright, even if Axel didn't have a proper family. For all she cared, that was fine, he wasn't with their father, so it was safe enough.
"No, he's away from him and that's all that matters." She affirmed, looking now at another bundle of papers. "I might see about contacting the, uh, 'Ko' kids though. Especially Ryuuko. I'm surprised he hasn't taken advantage of her misplaced idolization."142

- - - -"Sh-she may be beyond s-saving, Dia..." It was so odd though, the more he thought about it. Diomed had left the young kumiho heartbroken and...broken, really. Their youngest child still, somehow, ended up idolizing him and tailing him everywhere she could. Diomed, of course, had no interest in his hallowed children, calling them failures. And this was just what Shion's family was able to dig up.
"B-but who's to s-say he won't t-take advantage of her once he realizes wh-what he could do? Y-you were so lucky to get th-the one kid away." Shion was almost positive that once Diomed realized that one of his offspring, hallowed or not, was seemingly loyal to him...Ugh, he shuddered to think what could happen.
"So..Wh-what's next?"123

- - - -Stacking everything in a neat pile as she finished reading, Dianthe had to think. Ryuuko wasn't being harmed, and so far there was nothing to suggest that Diomed had noticed just how obsessed with him she was. which, Shion was right, was a relief.
"I'm not sure." She admitted with a heavy sigh, putting all the papers and scrolls and discs into her own bag. "I'll probably try to bring her too. She's young enough, and seeing how happy Zydrate is has got to make an impression on her." Damn, she almost believed her own words there.
With the purpose of their meeting fulfilled, her bag full of vitally important documents, and her stomach starting to rumble a bit from hunger, she stood up. She dared to look over the sitting hybrid, feeling at least a little proud that he hadn't tried to bring up the past between them. That alone would have ruined the good feeling she had right now.
"Well..I'll see you around, Shion. Tell your fam I said 'thanks'." 172

- - - -"S-see ya..."
It was hard, seeing her turn and go. but it would have been even harder had she turned back to say more. This is what he needed, to see her walk away. A piece of him, though hopeful to see her turn back around, now felt freer than he had felt in a long while. It was like pulling off the bandaid, and finally seeing that the wound had started healing.
And that's what this was all about, wasn't it? To see if he had started healing. A self-test, if you will, and one that was passed with flying colors. Now, he could focus on his own life, his family, and above all, others that weren't Dianthe.
It was a good end to a good day.128
