A brow quirk was his only reply- oh well, she'd have to keep working on her flirty lines. She still had a lot to learn, after all. So instead of putting too much thought into her suggestions of nontraditional experimentation, she set her mind to the questions that he was trying to ask her. It was kind of a relief he hadn't replied back on the cocaine, either- she wasn't sure she could give him all that much of a high, if she tried. And... maybe she could? Scylla licked her lips, humming. "Others I have met who have the glow? Hyperborea. Celsus. Maia. Ida. Kallichore." She had seen others, vaguely, but not sought them out before. Now... maybe she would have something more in common than 'so how about this monster we just fought, huh?'

Her comments on the Dystopian Future seemed to have him confused, so she tried to calm her active stutter, to focus and push away that still-lurking fear. "Years ago, now, there were... dreams. You know. All this magical s**t that seems so pervasive in our day to day lives. It was... I was almost 27, in my dreams. And the Negaverse won. But those of Order who- were marked." she pursed her lips, humming softly. "They couldn't be corrupted. The Negaverse couldn't force them to give themselves up. They could only kill them." Only.

"Not everything has turned out like in the dreams. None of it has, actually. I've spent the last years trying to change every piece that I remembered. But that isn't something dependent on me. Probably. Not something I could... change. His pencil rapped against the notebook and she jumped, half-startled, pushing a lock of hair back behind her ear.

And then she reached out for him, waggling bare fingers. "Touch my hand." it wasn't question, or an order- it was a blandly hopeful suggestion, with a tinge of curious eagerness, even to herself. He's probably think she was planning a trick, with her luck.

The names were duly recorded. Most he hadn't recognized, but Hyperborea's name stood out among the rest. A Cosmos knight, if he remembered properly — he recognized the glow and solemn standing at Olympus. She was one of the few emergent knights that attended Hvergelmir's summons.

The dreams, however, were foreign to him. Scholomance looked up to her, face schooled into a careful seriousness, while she tried to unwind the details about these muddled remembrances. That the war closed out with the Negaverse clinching victory didn't surprise him — but their method of dealing with the transcended did. Much more grievous examples were made of bitter public enemies in history, and he knew from his own experience that the Negaverse had at least one general with the creative wherewithal to add to that historical number. Simply killing the transcended was an easy fate. As he sat back, Scholomance's arm twitched with an itch he couldn't scratch. He moved to rub the healed skin.

"That's quite the story." Scholomance stood at her beck and reached out for the proffered hand. "Maybe story isn't the best word — oh, what does it matter? I don't doubt at all that you had these dreams, and that others had them, too. But I wonder… If it's more than just you that had the dreams, and it included the Negaverse too, then would they already know something of transcendence? I think that'd implore us to get a move-on with our own research. Quit digging around in our own asses and figure out what to do with it before they figure out what to do with us.

"Because I can promise you, they won't settle for murder if they can help it." Scholomance shrugged with a furl of his empty sleeve.

He listened patiently as she muddled through the half-remembered horrors of those dreams, as her brow furrowed and she stumbled looking for words. He remained seemingly judgment-free as she paused, inhaling and trying to wrap her mind around fears she'd tried to repress, to push through the chill that wrapped around her spine and try to find the relevant speckles of memory. The horror of finding her father corrupted, trying to keep her siblings safe from the same fate. Watching as everyone...

But it wasn't relevant to her. Not right now. Those deaths that had hounded her for years, after, didn't need to be dredged up for the moment. Just the facts. Maybe she'd have a shot in their honor after she checked on the kids, when she got home. Scholomance took her hand and the touch was warm, contact that she needed, after digging around in that muck.

"If anyone else who remembers those dreams has been trying to prevent it, I'm sure the Negaverse would be working to improve it. But what I had were fragments- I can't give truly intimate details. Hopefully, none of them will have any more memories. And I can't say anyone else who might remember their own dreams in more detail." BThey won't settle for murder if they can help it. Hopefully, they wouldn't have a choice. The idea of worse...

But she had asked for Scholomance's hand for a reason, and she turned to that reason now, as he shrugged his shoulders. She closed her eyes, focusing on that bright strand of energy that tied her to Scylla, as she had the night she'd given energy to Myrrha. She pulled on the skein, tugging the energy through that open channel and spilling it into the hand that touched her own. It felt like relief, the same as it had that night. Not unlike passing energy to Caedus' crystals, or the gentle soothing that came with a cup of tea and a book at the end of a long day. It felt right, and comforting.

Her hand tightened on his own as she pressed that energy into him, her eyes closed, letting the world slip away around her until it was just the connection, and the feel of his warm palm pressed to her own.

Dreams or not, what Scylla was passing into his hand was real — thin rivulets of energy that coursed their way through his arm, up his shoulder, into his starseed. It pooled there like a purity he never tasted, like distilled starlight settling into his soul. It felt clean — cleaner than any blazing high he stole out of misbegotten chemicals. And he realized, then, how exhausted he felt before. How worn down with all the tired tragedies of war.

Scholomance licked his lips. "Isn't that something." The words felt flat and used compared to the power he now felt. But, in a sense, it was completely opposite to the times he'd been drained of energy by the Negaverse or the mirror wraiths. Was it truly oppositional? It must've been for how clean he felt afterward. How renewed. The Negaverse instilled quite the opposite of that.

But unless they found a use for it in supercharging their magical abilities, a transcended senshi's ability to give energy was only ever reactionary. It worked as repairs do, and that was off the knowledge that something happened to dismantle the object in question, or time simply beat it down enough that repairs were needed. Nothing innovative came out of giving energy in this way. It wasn't itself a weapon. Scholomance creased his mouth at the hand beyond his, at the connection they shared. There had to be some way to make that work. Reactionary plus its limit of only being useful when a transcended senshi was on hand spelled disaster. No, perhaps just 'niche use'.

"It's a clever trick. I wonder if there's a way to put it to use… Well, that makes it sound useless, but I mean on a larger scale than just whoever's in contact range. As it is, you make a fantastic magical field medic." But wouldn't it be nice to move past that?

"Well, what do you think about all this? Your planet didn't exactly ask after your opinion before transcending you, but I'm asking it now. It's not so much how you feel differently, but… Are you okay after everything that's happened?" He figured if they got at least that much out of the way, they could go to coffee without leaving transcended talk unsaid.

Her shoulders drooped, stress slowly draining from them as the energy spilled through her, from chest and down her star-painted arms, tingling out through her fingers. His voice startled her, pulling her away from that connection and slowing the energy to a trickle. She didn't jump- his words weren't a warning, or alarm. So she took the moment to let the power wind down, thinking about closing it like a pipe. Probably irrelevant- she might be able to flick it on and off like a switch, but this wasn't an emergency, and who knew how alive a planet was, anymore? No cause to be unmannerly, right?

It didn't take long- a second, or a breath- and she opened her eyes, lips quirking at her friend. "It is definitely something." Jada's hand slid away from his own with a brush, and she clasped her hands together, stretching them over her head and listening to her spine crack, feeling the buzz of energy bouncing around her being. The sharing was... invigorating. Weight, lifted off her shoulders. A purpose served? Or just... getting rid of pent-up energy, like the buzz after a nice jog.

"If there's a way to make it more useful, I'd be open to trying it out. My... unwillingness to share my new situation has made messing around with what it can do somewhat difficult. Even this was only the second time I'd tried. I didn't know if it would work since you don't seem hurt?" she considered what she'd said, then- "The only other person I'd really tried sharing energy with was out of her mind. Halloween. She'd been bitten by one of the spiders and was stumbling down the street in a daze. It didn't seem to help much, but even a little was better than leaving her there."

A field medic. Scylla hummed, considering the way those words felt. Nice, in some ways. Incongruous, in many. A senshi whose power was more like a wild animal, being used to help someone who needed it? It was an interesting juxtaposition- and one that lent more room for consideration on the other uses of her powers she'd explored- not just hurling enemies across battlefields or tearing youma limb from limb, but considering again restraining them, like she'd done with some, so she could focus her attention elsewhere. Use her power as a "meat shield"- possibly more literally than she thought she'd considered.

Blinking away the thoughts, she turned her head to take in her companion again. "I had my chance. It wasn't this that I sought. Not exactly. And I can't say that I was happy about it at first. After years, pieces of the trappings become part of you." she lifted her hand to her brow, brushing her fingers over the glowing mark where a tiara once had rested. "But I'd been asking my world to help me, and I guess... I finally earned it. The saying that 'God helps them who helps themselves'? A little tit for tat?" the shrug was quick. "Rambling aside, I'm... fine with it. Maybe not what I wanted, but what you want isn't always what you need."

The transfer of energy held his thoughts for a time, and he stared,, transfixed, at the starborn glow along her skin. Only the mention of a date pulled him back from his cerebral world. "Halloween, hm? You were really holding out on me." Scholomance glared at her with the sternness of a displeased parent, his hand retreating from her only to curl against his hip. The gesture was dropped shortly afterward, venom included.

Scylla had her own views of the why, the how, the purpose — Scholomance just didn't agree with them. 'God helps those who help themselves'. God is so full of s**t. He bit his tongue furtively.

"I have…" Scholomance protracted a grunt while he tried to pull the words out of flashes of thought and picture. Soon enough, he stumbled through a proper explanation. "Some ideas. They're not very developed yet, but maybe I can get them somewhere useful. Your little stunt with the handholding and the refreshment actually gave me the first thought." And a meager one it was — it didn't take a genius to wonder if they could pour that energy into a vessel and save it for more needful times. The first humans thought of it thousands of years ago, so he owed them for the idea foremost.

"I think we should discuss it over coffee if you're okay with that. I'll buy, even though I'm still a touch miffed with you. October…" The knight huffed plaintively, rolling his eyes as a hurt teen did to their parents.

"Besides, it'll help with the explanation. We'll just power down here; they never really ask questions when you walk down the fire escape and into their second floor. And they're friendly enough faces…" The knight continued to mumble, half to himself, as he approached the metal-flanked stairs.
