Samoa Joe successfully pinned Austin Aries in a long hard fought match DOMINATED by Samoa Joe, although Aries proved to be very resilient somehow escaping two submissions. Samoa Joe gets up after hearing the bell ring and has his championship handed to him. He rolls out of the ring, not even celebrating. He was worn out. Joe backs up the ramp, with his eyes wide at Aries valiant effort. He eventually makes it to the back after the victory with his theme playing.

Austin Aries was down and out, as the crowd would let their voices be heard. As Samoa Joe took his leave with his title, Aries would be shown in camera view sitting up and hanging his head in shame after glancing over at the ramp to see Samoa Joe walk away. Tonight wasn't Aries night. Samoa Joe went over. One day their paths will cross again for the United States Championship. But as far as Samoa Joe's title defense went, that won't be any time soon.
