In days long past, this shrine used to be the main place of worship for those that inhabited Onisato. They prayed to the shrine keep a fearsome demon at bay that was sealed beneath it, and they brought offerings to it yearly for the purpose of maintaining the barrier's potency. Over time, however, the villagers began to feel like it was a shame. Then, slowly, they stopped coming to the shrine and paying their respects for the building keeping the demon at bay. Still, the shrine's purpose remained fulfilled, and despite being forgotten it still keeps the creature in an eternal slumber.

From the outside, the shrine looks like most other shrines commonly found throughout Japan. Its color motif is reddened wood with dark blue shingles. The shrine itself is composed of four rooms, each meant to make it inhabitable for a priest. There is a single donation box sitting in front of the shrine for anyone to donate money to the shrine. Beneath the shrine a rock sits, bound to the earth to keep the terrible demon below it from rising out of the pit in which it is buried.

For the most part, the shrine is quite dilapidated. The shingles are starting to fall off in numbers. There are a couple of walls that have been completely destroyed on the inside of it. Additionally, the flooring seems to have rotted out and a couple of pillars outside the shrine have toppled over due to old age. Sadly, it is probably in the worst condition it has ever been in.

Sneak and slither, sneak and slither. Zarina was moving around the abandoned shrine with a certain amount of determination. Having left her home in Yamasato, she was staking out a couple of places that she could invade and call her "home" for the time being. A few incidents in Yamasato, mainly egg robbery, had left her unwanted in the town unanimously. Overall, she felt the whole situation was quite silly! Their town had been saved on more than one occasion by her magic, and that was underselling just how much she contributed to their survival. Unfortunately, there had been quite a bit of collateral damage around town. There were some permanent ice structures that would never go away in a million years. Zarina, however, felt that those structures simply added to the scenery and made for quite an interesting story. "It is their loss! Zarina shall now set up shop here and protect this town in exchange for free goods, food, and anything else Zarina may possibly wish for.... mostly eggs." Zarina thought to herself as she slithered her way into the shrine, creepily crawling on the ground instead of walking.

There as something about acting like a snake despite having a humanoid form that made Zarina just feel... like herself. Zarina could not be Zarina without doing something most people would just find unnerving or disturbing to a great degree. Once inside the building, she began to look around at the decrepit remnants of what once used to be a shrine to protect the people. "How ironic it shall be that their new protector shall live on top of their former destroyer. Onisato is full of irony. Yes... Zarina will make a fine new protector, and Zaphir shall triumph!" Zarina called out as she raised her hands in triumph. Whatever scene was playing out in her head clearly was not displayed for the rest of the world as she basked in the gratitude and applause of all those that shall now worship her name and feed her. Yes! They will feed her many eggs and support her in her efforts to survive in Yuki-no-Okoku! With Abelid entire seas away from her, she was finally free to live her life and spread her name and Zaphir's to every corner of the planet without any sort of repercussion!

"Today is the day of a new dawn of tomorrow's future! All hail Zarina! All hail Zaphir! Bringer of light!" Zarina chanted out, celebrating whatever she had just said to herself. Her fake audience in her mind applauded even louder as she basked in their love and affection. A creepy smile began to creep onto her face in the abandoned shrine as she was completely overwhelmed by this delusion of grandeur. Perhaps we should contemplate how far my subjugation plan will go. We must make everyone love Zarina, everyone love Zaphir. Together we are strong... together we are one. Zarina thought to herself as she found a nice spot on the floor that was soft and curled up there to rest. Penniless, without food, and slightly starving, she was happy to finally have achieved her goal... in her mind. To anyone else, she was just a homeless girl squatting in a building that should have been condemned hundreds of years ago if it were not for the historical and cultural value of the building itself.

Ahh, we made it to dawn, not breathing for long,
What side of The Moment are you on?
I'm anxious, I'm calm and I'm certain as hell,
But I know The Moment will break the spell

In the days since the The Moment, Zeal had been wandering aimlessly across the land. His home, destroyed. The great expanses of the underground city, for the Vanguard of Adrestia, had not even a shred of existence left of it. He was lucky enough to escape on the outskirts of the battlefront with the witches. His Masters died there, and even now, he could remember their broken corpses scattered across the ground. They had been the last fighters, Zeal could tell, and when Zeal came across the scythe of one of his masters, he knew it would always act as a reminder to what he had left behind. It took him some time to adjust, and to learn of what had happened to the world. It was more difficult for him to gather information, being that all his life he had little connections with the outside world. The Vanguard were often thrown aside and ignored, accused of being necromancers. Zeal tried only for a short while before telling himself it was useless to communicate. Instead he began his journey independently, seeing the outcome for himself.

Now he started anew. His travels had brought him to Onisato, in the kingdom of Yuki No Okuko, and his first stop was the abandoned shrine. Zeal always made sure to visit shrines, abandoned or not, to learn what he could from the spirits or residual energies left behind there. He was not one to pray, or to think to himself intensely of those who have passed only to wish them a good passing. The shrine here was modest and almost typical, the red structure and blue roofing was to be expected, and it was refreshing to note that it was completely abandoned. Zeal stood at the front of the complex, by the archway that greeted him to the place of worship. His feet crunched down on a light layer of snow, and he could feel the cold begin to creep around the edges of his feet, getting through his thin boots. The cold wouldn't be good for most adenturers with such barely insulated boots. But he was used to dank and cold tombs and halls. His attire was best suited for agility, and being able to move easily and quickly, as well as silently. If it weren't for the snow, he could have explored this place silently, like a ghost. But each light step he took left a quiet crunch until he neared closer to the building, where the snow had barely set. Here he could see how the building had been neglected. Ahh... he thought to himself, taking in a breath through his nose, the closest to home I've been for many moons. His pale pink eyes looked up at the sky before returning to the building before him. With a glance, he peered over his shoulder at his scythe. Its pole was shorter, about half it's normal size, and the blade was folded at a 90 degree angle as to make it easier to travel with. From amongst the flurry of dark feathers on his shoulders he could see the weapon's crystal embedded into the blade, decorated with the head and skin of a raven.

Before he took another step, he heard the sound of a voice farther into the shrine, and he stared aimlessly into the dark building before him, which was divided up typically. A lost soul? Zeal pondered, his lips parted. "All hail Zaphir! Bringer of Light!" the voice said, a girl by the sounds of it, and far too alive to be that of a soul calling out to him. Without much of a thought, Zeal pushed forwards like a shade with light steps, looking behind thin walls until finally coming across a girl, curled up in a spot just for her in one of the rooms. Calmly, Zeal said "If i may be so bold, I have never heard of Zaphir. Would he, she, or it approve of such a resting place?" Zeal stood in the doorway, his arms hanging by his sides, and his pale pink eyes resting on the girl almost disinterested.

We're the orphans of a fate where everybody dies
And that's exactly why I have to fight with all my life, oh
And you can believe in theories all you want,
But I will find a life, where none of them apply to me

And the day is still young, there's so much that we can see,
The light of The Moment shines through to me
It's time to break free, from the ties that keep us trapped,
We'll head to The Moment, never look back

The Crunching sound of gravel being trod on could be heard as a small cloaked figure made its way through the forest, down an old path. The head of a small boy peeked out of the hood as he looked around, his eyes widened as he scanned the vibrant colours, the greens of the leaves, the rich browns of the trees, the multitude of colors given off by the flowers. He loved looking at nature, it never ceased to be anything but beautiful. He slowly walked through the trees, admiring the view. A group of small furry animals scurried past him, he stopped and watched them as they made their way up a tree and into a hole. He continued his trek, he wasn't actually sure where he was going, he just tended to wander until he found something of interest.

The sunlight broke through the trees creating small beams of light, the beams became more frequent as the path made its way to an old abandoned building. Mars did not know what this place used to be but he did sense a huge source of mana inside. He slowly unsheathed his swords as he approached the building with caution. He might run into a mage or a powerful creature. He was never really sure when he came across big mana signatures. He put his back against the side of the doorway that was missing a door. He poked his head round to see an empty hallway. He quickly crouched inside and moved quietly, making no sound as he kept low to the ground. He made his way to the end of the hallway where he heard voices. He peered into the room to see that he was right behind a tall man who seemed to be talking to a girl who was curled up in a ball in the middle of the room. He would instantly tell she was the source of mana he had sensed, was she harmless? Was he here to kill here? Was he her ally? Mars decided to hold back before he made a move. He knew that Mages were always targeted and if she didn't have a knight, she would be vulnerable so this guy could easily kill her with that scythe of his.

As Zarina lay there, napping, a voice rang out that caused her eyes to open and her mouth began to open and close, silently miming what could only be considered a spell. Covered by her body, this action would go largely unnoticed since she was curled up so tightly, hidden away from the people that had begun to surround her. For those that could barely make out the corner of her eyes, they would see a flash before a snickering began to issue forth from the girl. "Hue hue. We approve of all ressssting placessss, even atop thosssse that have long-since perished. This room issss perfectly underwhelming for our ssssort. For example, a housssse isss nothing more than cobbled together sssstone and weird mud, sssshaped to look appropriate while being nothing more than a commoner'sssss material. The only honor in houssssing issss that which isssss built entirely of gold and jewelry. Everything elsssse issss jusssst rockssss in varioussss shapesssss and formssssss. Now tell Zarina, where would one ssssuch assss oursssssselves find a home composssssed entirely of emeraldsssss, or gold, or even ssssilver? Nowhere, mind you. For housssssses built entirely of ssssuch materialsssss would fall to piecessss at the sssslightesssst gussssst of a wind. And sssssuch gaudy thingssss are unbecoming for a ssssservant of the greater powerssss. To even dare sssssuggest Zarina stay in sssssuch abodesssss would be to propossssse that Zarina is greater than the one Zarina sssssserves. Only one of ussss isssss worthy, and the other unfitting to lick the boot of the other."

Zarina remained in her spot, but her held lifted up slightly to look back at the man that was standing before her, both of her eyes moving from him to a spot that seemed to be a little ways away. "Two men have come to greet us this evening, Zarina seessss. Neither of you are threatening, as Zarina ssssees it, so Zarina will refrain from causing a scene here." She responded rather calmly, coiling herself back into position as she closed her eyes and hummed to herself. "It is rather rude to interrupt our nap, however, Mr. Zeal. You would do well to sssssimply wait until we wake up to greet us. If you could, we'd enjoy a boiled egg or a warm breakfast, preferably with the toassssst lightly charred." Zarina stated, listing out how she preferred to be woken up in the morning by others. "And if you could, buy sssssome groceries from the marketplace. Zarina preferssss tropical, but any ssssort of fruit issss fine. Jusssst don't make a habit of buying clearance. That fruit alwayssss rotsss before Zarina finishessss it."

Having listed out what sort of tasks she wanted, mostly in an attempt to perplex the man, she turned her attention to the other man whom she had looked into the past, present, and future and saw. "Mr. Ultor. Zarina enjoyssss one that knowssss how to sssslink and sssslither about. Zarina, however, would prefer to have you announce your presssence in cassssse you accidentally ssstartle Zarina. Many people have sssssought ussss after all, and it issss ssssssometimes hard to tell friend from foe." She commented as she remained in place, almost as if she was trying to continue her nap. "Could you run to Akihabara for Zarina? Zarina hassss no money and wantssss the latest edition of her favorite manga. 'Issss it Really Okay to be a Demi-Human in a Cubicle.' Zarina loves the side charactersssss and how they interact with the heroine. That issss the life Zarina cravessssss." Zarina explained her taste in manga to the young man, also issuing out a request for him to fulfill as well. "A blanket would be nice to. Zarina often likessss to pretend that we get cold."

Ahh, we made it to dawn, not breathing for long,

In his wait, Zeal had heard the faint sound of steps behind him, so light that he was unsure whether it was of a real person or a spirit still roaming these old rooms. Neither prospect alarmed him. Without turning his head, Zeal's eyes looked slightly towards his shoulder, as if looking in the direction of the sound would let him listen more easily. Zeal, since being a young dark elf boy, had been living in underground catacombs and corridors. The sounds of the dead, the trickling water down walls, the small scuttering of vermin. These had all been sounds he grew to ignore, but all these other small sounds like the footsteps of his brothers and sister, the other Vanguard, these he had heard well. Would they be coming to reward him, or would they be coming to turn him down again. He was unlucky, he couldn't hide as well as they could in the darkness. His curse of pale skin and pink eyes made him easily visible, even in dim light.

Zeal was in fact hoping. Clutching onto the knowledge that anyone in this situation might want to cause trouble with the girl more than cause trouble with himself. He was quite obviously a Knight, or was trying to be, anyway. He had a large weapon on his back, which he believed to be intimidating to most others. This girl, on the other hand, was odd... and more importantly weaponless. With the idea of a person or a spirit behind him, he watched as the girl seemed to move. Shortly after, her head looked up to take a peak at him. Her eyes were a surprise, but not so much a shock. She then went on to explain, with what he could only assume was a snake impression, that this was was merely adequate for her, or someone that sat beneath... the one she served? Zarina Zeal thought to himself, finally having a name to embed in his mind. Zeal remained quiet, even when her eyes moved seemingly over his shoulder to confirm there was another man in the building. Zeal moved his chin towards his shoulder, hoping to catch a glimpse of whomsoever had approached them. But then his pale pink eyes looked back to Zarina as he heard his name muttered. There was suddenly something more interesting in this girl, and not a moment too soon. A second later and Zeal would have been turning on his heel. It wasn't long after she finished listing him tasks that she moved onto the man behind him, who could be identified as Mr Ultor only - for now.

"It is regrettable" Zeal began, "but I am servant to none but the dead, and act as equal to Adrestia, who's will is my only guide." Zeal then stepped closer, eerily lightly in his thin boots, before stepping aside to allow the man behind him more space. "I propose you hand my tasks to this man, lest he decline. But I demand to know what it is that gives you insight. None know of me, none but my people who are now dead."

The boy silently tried to listen to the conversation that was going on, the girl seemed to be talking about her current accommodation. Even Mars could admit to this not being a suitable place for anyone to live in. Then again it was perfect for the natural wildlife to inhabit and they seemed to be thriving here as he had noticed a few small creature scurrying about. His eyes widened however when the girl said that there were two men, "How does she know that I am here? Does she have strong senses? Did I make to much noise?" he asked himself within his own mind as he was taken a little off-guard. He continued to listen to the girl, she seemed to think that the two boys were not threatening. Mars was still unsure of the other man in the room, he seemed threatening to Mars. He could tell that the man was not a mage, more likely a knight from his weapon and his stance.

Zarina finally started to talk to Mars who still remained in the shadows with his weapons drawn. He slowly stepped out into the light, sheathing his weapons. The man was now turning his back on the girl and began to walk away, maybe he did not want to complete these tasks? Mars did not blame the man, the nearest market place was a bit of a trek from here. "You seem to know of me, so you must either be associated with the army....or you are a mage," Mars spoke in his childish voice. Many tended to not take him seriously, he was treated as a child and not the adult he really was. His body never aged so he would unfortunately look like this forever. The fact that this girl might be a mage intrigued Mars, maybe she would be able to tell him more about his creator and where he could find them. "I mean you both no harm so long as you both are not hostile," he spoke in a serious tone. He glanced at the man known as Mr. Zeal, at least that's what the girl had called him. Mars had not met a knight that was a follower of some kind of death based religion. "Though I do not know why I too should complete these chores for you, I don't even know who you are and I am definitely not some mindless servant," Mars continued to speak, he was not here to run some errands but to find out what the source of the mana that he tracked was and if it was dangerous.

What boring people these two were. Almost immediately they turned into rather serious people that disregarded her antics entirely and demanded answer from her. They were no better than soldiers or her own countrymen that only sought explanation and use. Why care so much how someone can gleam a bit of information from another in a world where someone can make a statue by chanting a few verses from a spellbook? Overall, it seemed rather silly for them to be worked up about this. "Ssssso. Let us underssstand thisss a bit. You both refusssse to do us any favorssss but adamantly demand ansssswers from us? What disssgusting attitudessss." Zarina commented, yawning as she realized that these two would not be allowing her any form of sleep whatsoever. Whatever opinion she had of this place and desire to stay here had almost completely diminished as a result of the two of them showing up. It was one thing to simply be curious or ask a question... but their demanding nature made her a bit more wary of the two of them.

"The wisssse give eggssss for their wishesssss. Only foolish people sssseek ansssswers without cossssst." Zarina stated, trying to sound as wise as possible despite being half asleep and not really focusing on the situation entirely. Seeing the future was a pretty common divination ability, and viewing into the past was probably just a step up from that. Such concepts should not be new to anyone, and there was not really a need to explain herself or how she came about the information of their names by using this ability. Should we stay or should we go? Ba dum dum da da dum. Zarina began to hum in her mind as she repeated her own version of the lyrics of her new favorite song from this world. Being introduced to music had mad her almost twice as lazy as before, thus resulting in her shutting herself in her home and repeating lyrics from her favorite songs to herself. As she began waking up slightly, she started to reflect upon an instance that had caught her attention quite a while ago.

Nothing had really been the same ever since the incident at that restaurant, and people seemed to be coming across her a bit more often since then. That person she had met there was rather serious as well, in the same vein as these two. The difference, however, seemed to be how they conducted themselves. That woman had been rather patient with her, unlike these two. She was fun to tease and allowed Zarina quite a bit of time to mess with her before she finally blew up on her. Maybe it was best to return to her roots rather than stay in a place like this. "We are bored! You're boring!" Zarina suddenly whined, not feeling up to whatever task it was to try and answer these two at all. "Zarina shall take her leave, yes, her, not our. Zarina does not answer questions about things without proper reward. Zarina does not associate with people that demand things from her. Oh look! Now Zarina has gotten so worked up that she's forgotten her accent!" Zarina complained, stomping her tail on the ground in frustration. "You know what!? Good day sirs! Good day!" Zarina stated, pulling out a cell phone and staring at a picture before suddenly using her teleportation to completely disappear from the building and, most likely, Onisato.

(Zarina has exited, she is no longer in this thread to reply to.)

Ahh, we made it to dawn, not breathing for long,
What side of The Moment are you on?
I'm anxious, I'm calm and I'm certain as hell,
But I know The Moment will break the spell

Zeal raised a brow at the girl, who was quite obviously outraged by their denial. To carry out an unknown person's will, without question, without reward being uttered. What difference was that to what he was asking. There were many magics in the world, but she didn't have to know information about him, and if it wasn't magic that got that information to her, then he would be more worried. "Cost" Zeal uttered, "is a very flexible scale." As for the rest of the woman's strange, yet sleep outburst, Zeal could give no more replies. No sooner did she complain of being bored before rambling on to herself, like a child with no friends, before retreating to her phone and vanishing completely.

Zeal blinked, Zarina was gone in moments, not even that, as if she had never been here. The Vanguard exhaled and tilted his head slightly, as if it might offer him a new angle to observe the scene. It did not. He finally turned, stepping to the side to face Mr Ultor. His pale pink eyes slowly looked him up and down, as if he was inspecting a scripture and reading it in his head. "I've never liked cryptic magi. I heard you sheath your weapons, were you expecting a fight? No less the power beneath this shrine?"
