Quote: Sun Hunter SHADOW RUN General Information The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel. Simply roll for attack as you would in battle. If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings. After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.
Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.
Trainees: 0 recovery Sun Trainees: 1 recovery Hunters: 1 recovery Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries

Noemi didn't have her new hunter coat yet, so she continued to wear her old one until it came, but she was freshly minted, new hunter smell and it was something she really wanted to be proud of.
Except that she had never done any of the training for Runic weapons and those were practically required for being a full hunter! She casually clutched her chest before looking around. She was looking, mostly, for her cousin who was the most elusive mist in the world.
It was a real test of her skills to find the shadow hopper but when she did.
"Stormy!" She turned quickly, feeling the presence of someone watching her and looking around. "Are you the..there?"

There was a pause (guilt and surprise and anxiety), and then: "Yes."
She peeled away from her hiding spot sheepishly and tucked her hair behind her ear. She thought to apologize, but she was also trying to curb that instinct; at this point she felt she would have to do so anytime she breathed, so why bother.
"Was I bothering you?" Stormy asked instead.

Noemi actually half expected her NOT to be there and just have to kick herself for attempting to talk to shadows where no one was but when Stormy appeared, she was still easily startled.
"No...No!" Noemi looked at her cousin, clutching her chest to calm her nerves. No one truly BOTHERED Noemi, she was just...a nervous mess.
"I am glad to see you!" Noemi smiled now, coming closer to her cousin, but not to invade the girl's space. Stormy still had the haunted look, and Noemi would hate to push her cousin away when it was the only family she had on the Island besides....technically....Milo.
"Are you free?" Noemi tilted her head, "We can catch up, oh but....I am headed to training! Do you want to come?" She took a breath, "I have to learn the...runic weapons!"

She both doubted and also believed Noemi, somehow. Hope and apathy swirling about as they often did. Nodding, Stormy said, "I'm free. Which one? The torch?" she added, once she remembered where they were. It was a little surprising to her that Noemi had gone this long without training at any of the centers, but it definitely wasn't the weirdest thing to happen.

"R...Really?!?!" She almost expected her cousin to slink back into the shadows and disappear. "The torch yeah! I was on a mission...my um promotion mission." She looked away, "It was very hard.....I almost didn't succeed and I can't...I can't be a problem."
She moved closer to her cousin as she led them towards the shadow hall.
"I have never done this before." She sheepishly looked at her cousin, "But...But I will do my best. Have you been well?" She waited...."It's good...good to not see you forgotten me...." Like Lex had, though he was....a kid now too!

There was a long pause before Stormy gently, firmly, took her cousin by both shoulders. It was the most direct she had been in quite some time to anyone, but this was important. This was beyond important. "I wouldn't forget," she said, looking Noemi in the eyes. "I won't." For all her fears of that very thing, the last she would ever want someone to think is that they were in danger of it with her. There had never been a risk, and in fact quite the opposite was an issue. No matter what nonsense came her way, Stormy remembered.Letting go, she then asked, "Do you want me to go a little ahead? All you have to do is attack shadows and make it to the other side."

Noemi hadn't expected to have Stormy actually touch her, so the flinch purely came from surprise. Her eyes widened though as they met with Stormy's and her face flushed at the confession. "I don't want you too!" Noemi reached out to hug her cousin, because that was what she felt was the right thing to do.
"I...I just recently learned about the tree.....that's why...that's why I said that." She sighed, "My...MY teacher...he is no longer my teacher and doesn't remember me. I thought...I was worried...." She said no more though.
"I will follow you!" The girl chimed and looked at her cousin, as she summoned her weapon and they were closer to the training arena. "I am a little better at fighting, so hopefully...." She looked at the shadows, mostly with determination, "I won't be a burden!"
