Reece walked into the Pizza Palace. It was one of few pizza shops were you could sit down and enjoy a meal. To her embarrassment the various staff members shouted out her name in greeting. Yes she comes here a lot, like a a lot..but still. The chef called out from behind the counter "Reece! My favorite customer! I'll get right on your regular order yeah?". "Actually" Reece quickly chimed in. "I brought a friend with me this time, thought maybe we could do this the old fashioned way?". Bark had already gone to the booth Reece normally sat at so at least he wasn't in the way. Reece turned around to where she knew Liv was probably making some sort of face. One of the waitstaff known as Julie, led the two over to the table and handed them both menus. It was pretty straight forward. Pizza Palace was a build your own style pizza place. No premades here! Reece looked over the menu trying to pretend she didn't already know what she would be getting.

Maybe this was a bad idea. The ride over was awkward, to say the least. The food at the academy may have been bad, but was it worse than awkwardly sitting with someone that she just met for food? Liv wasn't sure.
Liv jumped at the sound of a shout. Very unexpected. Did Reece frequent this establishment a lot? Her mouth twisted in a grimace at the idea of eating greasy food frequently. Pizza every once in a while was nice but...wouldn't having it often make someone feel greasy? She shuddered at the idea of grease. Man, maybe she'll just have a salad this time around. Nice, clean, crispy, salad. Her trademark smile came back onto her face. Yeah, sounded nice.
"Order what you want," she dismissively waved. The slaugh was quite curious about what Reece would order though. She chose to sit in the opposite booth of Bark. Hopefully, that would be a safe distance away. She gave him a warning narrow of the eyes before glancing at the menu. No salads. Okay. She tried to hide her slight disappointment. A veggie pizza would have to do. Extra....veggie. She closed the menu and placed her hands on her lap. "I'm ready."

Reece sighed seeing Liv's sour expression. "You seem disappointed, I thought you liked pizza?". Julie returned to the table with some complimentary garlic break sticks and asked for their order. Liv ordered a single serving pizza with extra vegetables. Perhaps she was a vegetarian? If so this was no gonna sit well with her.
"Ill have a medium deep dish, cheese stuffed crust, with the usual on it". Reece didn't want to openly admit she always loaded her pizza up with meats, sometimes mushrooms if she was feeling daring. "And a root beer float if you don't mind". Reece looked down, normally she wouldn't care about what someone though of her pigging out yet for some reason what this Liv girl thought of her mattered. Julie nodded "thatll be about 10 minutes" and walked off to the back.
"Now we are back to the awkward silence" Reece mumbled propping her head up on her elbow. "Look I get it, you hate me, and thats fine" she paused "I'm only a year older than you if that.. we can't be that much different" another pause. "I'm sorry you lost..sorry I won? I don't know what you expect me to say you know..?"

"I like pizza just fine," Liv replied breezily. She wasn't about to tell her that she was more in the mood for greens than anything else. It wasn't like she realized that before they got there. And honestly, she was ready to eat anything. No matter how greasy it was. She was hungry.
Things shifted to weird as they went to awkward silence. Great. Liv didn't know what to say. Really, what was there to say. Calling it awkward was only going to make it more awkward. She raised a brow at Reece's rambling. The girl could talk.
"I don't hate you," she faintly smiled, taking one small bite of the breadsticks. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. Then again, she was starving. The slaugh might have been miffed and embarrassed at the loss but it wasn't...hate. "I'm here aren't I?" If she hated her she'd just stomach the food back at the academy. Even if it was worse.
The smile on her face grew tight at the mention of her loss. "Let's not talk about it." Leave the past behind them. And the humiliation. She cleared her throat, her gaze focusing on the complimentary bread. "It's quite good." Lame conversation starter but at least it was something.

"Sorry I didnt mean...." Well she just put her foot in her mouth didnt she. At least they didnt hate her guts. Thats one point in the positive column. "Thanks for coming. I I don't really have female friends to go places with. And the guys would rather see who can eat the most slices in 2 minutes than talk...." She took some of the shakeable parm cheese and coated a breakstick before splitting it with Bark. She placed his half ontop of his nose and told him to wait. The bunyip went cross eyed zeroing in one the piece of bread. When giving permission he stuck out his tongue and scooped into his mouth. "Yeah..its good bread as far as pizza places go. The garlic is baked in where most places the garlic is just garlic seasoned butter that soaks into the bread". A few minutes later Julie returned with the pizzas. Liv's basically looked like a salad bread bowl with cheese, but Reece supposed that was the point. Her's was a a dish of cheesy goodness with a sausage, ham, and bacon layer ontop. Though her pizza came out perfect per usual her favorite part though was the large rootbeer float. She loved ice cream floats. If they invented an ice cream flavored soda she'd probably never drink anything else.. but science has not advanced that far yet. Trying her best not to be a complete slob, she put a slice on a plate for bark, then took a bite of a slice for herself. Chewing mouth closed. That was proper right? Etiquette was not a class she paid much attention in sadly.(edited)

Liv waved her hand again in the air. "It's fine," it might have come out more snappy than intended. Whoops. Liv cringed internally. She didn't mean for it to come out like that. She just wanted to get passed it. Why dwell on something that happened for only a split second? 'Because it was humiliating'. Dieties, she needed to stop.
The next words out of Reece's mouth gave her a chance to distract herself from her feelings. She raised a brow and shrugged. "I was hungry." It wasn't like she needed the company. Usually, she lived a solitary life. It was easier that way. Having company from time to time wasn't such a bad thing though. Reece wasn't that bad. Her thoughts went to her rival Nym. For sure not as bad as him.
What was she---? The slaugh watched, perplexed as she placed a piece of garlic brread on the bunyip's nose. Weird. A light chuckle escaped her lips as the creature stared hard at the piece of bread though. Huh. She had never expected something as burly as a bunyip to have the patience around food. She took another bite of the bread, savoring the taste. "Interesting..." Honestly, she didn't know a thing about cooking. Her parents usually prepared meals at home. She was just the consumer. There was no point in cooking on campus either. Not when there's food at the cafeteria. Learning how to cook...could come later. She wasn't too concerned. Learning could happen later.
Food! Liv's eyes went wide at the pizza that was put in front of her. It might have not been what she was craving, but the heaping amount of veggies would do. A small groan left her lips at the first bite. Her cheeks turned a darker shade of blue. She must have been hungrier than she realized. Whoops. "Sorry." she placed her piece down, and took a piece of crust from the top. "Would he..?" she gestured to the bunyip with the small piece. IT seemed like he could have food that they had. But it was better to ask than not right? And honestly, she wasn't a huge fan of crust. It would go to waste if she didn't give to the beast.

"No worries, its good pizza, thats why i come here so much" One slice down, a whole pizza left to go. It took Reece a minute to realize what Liv was referencing. "OH!" She said covering her mouth cuz it was full of pizza. "Yeah he will eat anything you give him. I've trained him enough he won't steal food anymore but if he really wants what your eating he can give you such a sad look itll break your heart. Cant cha bud?" Reece looked over at Bark who was currently engulfing the slice of pizza in front of him and part of the paper plate. She rolled her eyes and pulled away the plate. "You know thats not food you goof". There was a reason she always ordered a medium, aside from just she liked food. She usually took home a couple slices for Bark, unless he came with her. You would think eating all this junk food and stuff would make him sick but it hasn't phased him a big according to the vet. She turned her attention back to Liv. "but yeah no totally, he'll eat anything. don't worry about your hand, he's 98% tongue..2% accidental tusk pokery". Three slices down.(edited)

He would eat anything huh? Liv highly doubted that he could give her such a look. Such a creature wasn't her...cup of tea. Especially a bunyip that wasn't the....wisest. She watched the creature warily as it started chowing down on the paper place. Very peculiar. Was he the brightest of the litter? If that was the case, she'd hate to see the one who wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. Either way, she couldn't help but pity the burly beast. Just a bit. Even if he could easily take her arm off at the smallest lick.
Liv was going to place the crust on the plate but with that removed. It left the table or his.....mouth. Her shoulder's stiffened at the thought of having to place it in his mouth. Definitely out of the question. That two percent was enough for her to err on the side of caution. Hesitantly, she held her hand out as far as it could go toward the bunyip and dropped the piece of bread down before he got the chance to get to her hand before retracting it. That wasn't too bad. Even if it was frightening. She went to pick up her now crust-less piece, taking a bite of it. "Do you want some?" she gestured to her own barely eaten pizza. "There's no way I can finish all of this." Two or three pieces was her max, even when starving.

"I guess you've heard some really gnarly stories about bunyips. I get he looks like something out of the horror movies but hes really sweet. You don't have to worry about being careful with him like other familiars. Hes basically a giant hyperactive pillow. He can keep up with me when I run or play games. We get his tusks and claws filed as needed so they aren't sharp. Not once has he ever bitten anyone.. or taking off any limbs. I swear" Bark nommed on the pizza crusts and started on another slice from Reece's Pizza. "Nah I'm fine with mine, I'm not big on veggie pizzas...might as well just get a salad with some breadsticks. I'm sure they could wrap it up to go though. I remember the senior dorms had reheaters for food in the community kitchens. I doubt that much has changed since last year." Reece finished her 4th piece and was going to eat the last one, since Bark at devoured three of his own. Just then Bark shifted in the booth and started to make whining noises. He tilted his head and pawed at her leg, his eyes focused on that last piece of pizza. "Fiiinnneee". Reece huffed and dropped the slice in his mouth. Spoiled rottnn he was.(edited)

Gnarly stories? Liv's lips parted before pausing. She hadn't heard of anything wrong per say. Whispers in the halls of family telling the younger ones to not go near. Seeing a bunyip or two leap onto a kid was more than enough to have her be cautious. Hyperactivity and tusks weren't too great of a combo for her. But he didn't seem to bad. She smiled and nodded. Tusks and claws still seemed a bit menacing. At least he kept over there.
Liv chortled. "There was no salad." If she had seen it, she would have ordered it. Salad was what she had been craving. Wrapping it up did sound like the way to go. She smiled and dabbed her lips with a napkin, completely full. But she balked at the idea of using the reheaters. "Those resurrection stones? No way!" she waved over the waitress and asked for a box as well as the check before continuing. "I would rather eat my pizza cold then eat pizza that has been made a travesty by that heat. They ruined good food. Completely. Cold was the way to go. Even if the taste was sub par, it still beat what the reheaters did to her food.
She stared at the two, quizzically. It was a surprise that they could even finish a whole pizza. Liv couldn't finish half of what she currently had. And she was stuffed. The two did seem to have an appetite.
As the box came, she looked towards Reece. Guess it was time to part ways. She started placing the pizza bit by bit within the box, making sure that each one aligned appropriately. "Well...it was nice." she awkwardly closed it before reaching for her purse. Nice and weird. But even though the girl had beaten her, she couldn't say that she disliked spending time with her. "Thanks for inviting me out."
