ashes to the wind

Stella looked up at the message and then she said looking at Imiri "Just a tower, but if you have another idea you can tell me and we can.. " She read their next message which had read her mind she grinned and nodded "That's a great idea." She knocked down her tower and laid out the blocks so Imiri and Stella would be able to start building a castle together. This was going to be fun and a lot easier with someone with actual hands helping. Stella had a voice and Imri had hands they would make a good team together.

Jane gave them a smile of their own. She liked this Roshan. They gave them a super cool coloring page and they seemed pretty nice.

"Vesper blues" Her lips sat in a thin line as she contemplated the name. It was so foreign to her tongue. Why vesper? Should she ask? Her golden gaze traveled south to the picture at hand. Maybe that would give her the answer that she was looking for.

Oh. Because there were vesper cats on the page.

One of her lips turned up in a sideways grin and nodded. "It's pretty." Better than what she usually did. She could barely color within the lines. It was frustrating. Patterns...she hadn't tried yet. "I think I'll call mine Rocky Hues." She nodded to herself. Hues. That was a word that she wasn't sure what it meant, but adults seemed to use it with colors. It was good enough.

A castle would be wonderful and fitting for their situation. He could be the dragon and she would be the knight but they would be friends that went on adventures and had tea. But did she like tea? He shook his head free of these silly thoughts as they started to build. They made a great team, he thought, her planning and his helping and soon they would create something wonderful! As long as he was careful not to knock it down. Or that the other kids wouldn't try to spoil their fun.

Roshan hadn't heard the doubt in Jane's voice. They were too busy putting the finishing touch on their last vespercat. It reminded them of all the vespercats they had seen while visiting the Swirling Storms Desert.

Jane's compliment drew Roshan back to the present. "Thank you," Roshan said with a small smile. Their tendrils turned a slight pink in embarrassment. Roshan wasn't used to their art being complimented. They were normally known for more logical endeavours.

"Rocky Hues is a good name." Roshan nodded. They grabbed a new page to color as there was still time before their mom came to pick them up. Roshan decided to try to keep a conversation going between themselves and Jane. "Do you collect rocks? I know someone who does and you seem to like them."

Stella smiled she didn't know what was going through Imri's head just then but she was enjoying the help they provided and the idea to build a castle instead on a tower. This was going to be fun and it was nice to have another freshling who liked her and accepted her for who she was no questions asked. Stella carefully helped to place the blocks she had to move slower than Imri so she wouldn't knock everything over with her hoof hands. She didn't want to ruin all their hard work. She wasn't exactly sure what the game was they would play but she was excited to find out.

Play with Harvest? Sure the idea had seemed warm and inviting when he saw only a Freshling napping beneath a big floppy hat. That was before he woke the other and it was revealed to him he had an extra pair of eyes. Peculiar how you can hear about Hollowed before but never really know how you'll react until you come face to face with them. For Henry he had been confident in his nonjudgmental mindset, but now standing here looking Harvest in his eyes it was very apparent that he didn't have as much hold on himself as he would have liked to. He struggled to keep his little feet standing firmly in their position while he thought of how to go about the situation. He knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to run and avoid the situation all together, yet at the same time he would be plagued by an overwhelming guilt. He knew what it was like to be left behind, and he never wished to make anybody feel the way he had.

Taking a deep breath he boldly took a cautious step forward, confronting the little Freshie all while fiddling with the large sleeves of his sweater. It was times like this that he managed to groom any stray strings from the material. "Well, usually I like to play tag-" Oh god, he did not need to frighten himself with this guy running towards him. Bad plan. "But! I think maybe we could try something else. I'm never much good at tag anyway. I'm slow because I have something wrong with me. It's like if I run to fast it gets hard for me to breathe. I think my mommy called it Ash-Mah." He gave a bashful shrug of his shoulders and felt the rambling begin. This typically happened when the boy became uneasy for whatever reason.

"Do you like to draw?" The boy asked with a hopeful stare. He enjoyed coloring and occasionally trying to draw his own art but he much rather prefer to play with colors. It was how he managed to keep himself busy when all the other Freshlings were too busy. It was difficult to be a young little social butterfly when you seemed to be the only one in a room full of busy bumblebees. Maybe Harvest could be the moth to his butterfly though. Sort of the same, but a little bit different.

Not being able to stop smiling, Jane nodded. "Thanks." Now her picture just had to live up to the name. But with what colors...Jane stared at the ones provided. Orange and purple? That seemed like a good enough combo for one. She stuck out her tongue as she haphazardly drew a pattern.

"I do!" She gave him a toothy grin. "Rocks are my bestest friends." Well, and Lilly. But Lilly was different. "Do you collect rocks?" Maybe she had a pal who she could share the passion with. "W-Who else likes collecting rocks? Her intense but curious stare wandered around the room, attempting to place the other person. But..she didn't see anyone who liked rocks. Weird.

Her gaze traveled back to Roshan. "Do you like vespercats?"

Aisling didn't often go into the playroom. She used to, when she was younger, but she couldn't find anyone who wanted to play with her. Now that she had a proper friend in Bridget and her familiars, Pooka and Ginger, to spend her time with, she rarely found herself drifting through the soft carpeted play space. Yet, today she had and her round, red eyes glowed as she observed the others in the area.

Walking towards an area with some paper and coloring materials, she started to draw a picture of Pooka, who was the easiest to draw, since he was so round. She would draw Ginger next, even though Ginger was trickier to draw. She would draw until she was bored or until someone thought to come up to talk to her, if anyone did. If not, she could go back to her dorm and play with her familiars until her next class started. It would be a good day, she decided then. A good day, one way or another.
