Basic Information

The weapon is essentially an autoloading mortar, that utilizes a chaingun mechanism to help load the rounds in to the weapon, with a metal storm ignition system to electrically ignite the propellant, and a propellant mechanism designed for a high-to-low pressure system, which helps to completely eliminate the felt recoil of the weapon, like in the swedish high to low pressure grenade system. In this way the weapon doesn't produce felt recoil, and the propellant can be electrically ignited via a metal-storm style system, allowing for adjustable levels of power and to be ignited without a hammer, thus simplifying the weapon's design and allowing it to use the same type of mortar round as standard mortar weapons (with only a difference in propellant). The rounds are loaded in to the weapon via external energy from the chaingun system, rather than relying upon the backwards recoil of the round, which makes the weapon unusually lightweight and allows it to fire at higher rates than standard mortars, as well as keeping the system automated and remote controlled so it can remove the standard crew previously necessary to operate it. The weapon uses a linkless belt system to help load rounds in to the weapon, and allows for a much higher rate of fire. The entire system is designed to be automated, and can be controlled by a crew member of a vehicle, or a soldier remotely at a distance through the land warrior system. Soldiers can pick targets on an electronic map and have the mortar weapon automatically fire, allowing them to circumvent the secondary control typically necessary for most mortar systems, and can speed up it's rate in the fire. The entire system relies on electricity to operate, from the chaingun, to the coilgun assistance mechanism, to the metal storm ignition system. Alternatively, the mortar can have radially stacked rounds which are fired instead, however this limits the number of rounds each mortar can fire before needing manually reloading.
