Basic Information
The weapon is similiar in set-up tp the XM500 sniper rifle, however the internals are completely different and modified to reduce the felt recoil of the weapon by utilizing a forward reciprocating system and to handle the higher temperatures of the lighter weight system, which also being chambered in casless rounds. The weapon's firing mechanism is based on the XM312 and XM806, however the weapon is only 35 pounds, instead of 40 pounds, and uses a handful of other techniques to reduce the recoil. This makes the weapon lighter and have virtually no recoil, but the weapon is not as reliable, and it cannot switch to the 25mm grenade round. The barrel is approximately 5 pounds heavier than an XM500, while the rest of the weapon is beefed up to handle the higher rate of fire and absorb the heat. The weapon also possesses and enlarged muzzlebreak and bipod which is designed to help reduce the recoil of the weapon. At roughly 35 pounds, it is slightly heavier than an XM500, but substantially lighter than many comparative machine guns. The weapon is designed to be fired at vastly lower rates of fire than the M2HB machine gun, but is much lighter weight. The weapon is a hybrid of sniper rifles and machine gun operations, capable of being used by a small 4-man team by the useless of caseless rounds which are roughly half the weight of standard cartridges, and the lighter weight weapon. The weapon can be chambered in .50 caliber and 14.5mm rounds, with the 14.5mm rounds capable of being used with etheir high velocity long range AP variants, or lower velocity high explosive air bursting munitions, replacing the 25mm grenade launcher cartridge with a more aerodynamic and higher velocity round. The weapon falls in to three categories, a hybrid between a machine gun, sniper rifle, and even potentially an automatic grenade launcher. The extreme versatility gives the weapon good characteristics for most combat conditions, however limits the weapons effectiveness in all of these roles.
Like the XM806 and XM312, the weapon has a reciprocating barrel and long stroke gas piston to help reduce the recoil. The works by using forward counter balancing mass which helps to counteract the felt recoil of the weapon. Unlike the XM806 and XM312 however, the weapon utilizes a muzzlebreak that helps to reduce the recoil by about 30-40%, a hydraulic recoil buffer system to help reduce the felt recoil, a dual-spring recoil buffer and a recoil buffer like in the HK45, and utilizes a forward reciprocating mass like in the Ak-108 to further counter balance the recoil, which is actuated by the long stroke gas piston.
