A Bounty is a government-issued reward placed on an individual and awarded to whoever can apprehend or kill that person.

With that being said, bounties are placed basically automatically upon committing a misdeed, with the exception being if you didn't leave any witnesses alive. Pirates can update their bounties in the [Bounty Update Thread] it is the RPC's responsibility in order to update for their bounty as if they do not, they will not be credited for the act, or eligible to claim further exp rewards.
