The Western Weyr Buenos Aires Wing Wingsecond x2 Contest
Here lies a simple contest for two wingseconds!
If you win, staff will give you a dragon of the desired color!

Open: Now!
Ends: January 5, 2018 @ 9 PM EST

What is needed of a wingsecond: All the normal duties, plus the ability to put up with the wingleader meddling in their lives, and the ability to mitigate the meddling of P'kav in the wingrider's lives.

The Wing Leader:
faesinger
Name: P’kav
Age: 36
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingleader
Previous Rank/Craft: N/A
Physical Description: 6’ tall strawberry blond man with broad shoulders. His face has hazel eyes and a square jaw.
Personality: P’kav is magnanimous in both thought and actions. He forgives easily, is not vindictive, and will give that which he has away to help another even if it puts him in a difficult position. There is an idealism about P’kav that has gotten him labeled a romantic on more than one occasion. Combine with that idealism is a desire for adventure and to learn. P’kav has never denied that he is a romantic for he would not lie to others.

He is steadfast in his beliefs and when he decides on a course of action he remains firm. His strong-will helps with that determination and steadiness, though he can become stubborn as a result. He can be reasoned with, though it would take a patient and knowledgable person and a lot of time. But P’kav himself is impatient and does not do well with delay. He doesn’t like like to be kept waiting and when he wants something done, he expects it to be done. Along with that is the fact that P’kav is demanding of people, expecting them to always be striving to better themselves and try their best. He doesn’t understand why people would not want to improve.

But he is protective of people, even those that he is impatient with and confused by. If someone that he was not on good terms with was threatened, he would still help. That protectiveness leads to meddling in people’s affairs. For their own good of course, or so he tells himself. Some of it stems from the protective urges and the impatience to get things done and resolved. But some of it is just the desire to be in the middle of things and have a hand in the outcomes.

Positive Trait List Magnanimous, Steadfast, Protective
Negative Trait List Impatient, Stubborn, Meddlesome
History: P'kav was born into a small cothold near High Reaches up in the mountains. The cothold was equalitarian as there were really not enough people there to warrant a hierarchy. There was a Lord Holder of course, but really he was just the man who lived next door and had three more herd beasts. There wasn’t much there, and by the time he was eleven P'kav knew what the rest of his life would be like. Tending herd beasts and crops. Helping around the place and generally doing boring things. This did not please him at all. With two older brothers, and a younger sister, P'kav had a loving family and was raised with strong values and a good work ethic. But he was bored. He knew there had to be something greater out there for him if he could only get to it.

By the age of fourteen P'kav was beginning to despair a little about finding a way to make his life exciting and an adventure instead of monotony. They weren’t rich enough to send him to a craft hall. They couldn’t even spare the expense of getting there. And he we neither interested in being a mercenary nor a caravaner. But that didn’t leave many options for P'kav. However he was determined to find a way to obtain his goal, if only he could be clear on what his goal was.

It all became clear, all the pieces of the vision falling into place, when High Reaches Weyr ordered some herd beasts be delivered for a feast. P'kav was the one chosen to bring them to the Weyr. The trip itself was uneventful, and upon arrival he was promptly dismissed and ignored. This might have annoyed someone else, P'kav took it in stride. He hung around for a bit, hoping to catch sight of a dragon or two. He had heard tales, and yet had never seen a real one. There was no reason for a dragon rider to come to where he lived. Well, lurking in the shadows resulted in the most interesting thing, though at first when the rider clapped a hand on his shoulder, P'kav was certain he was in trouble. Yet, he wasn’t. Instead the rider’s dragon had decided that he, P'kav, should stay and be a candidate. P'kav had no idea how that worked, but he wasn’t going to argue with the opportunity he had so desired and never dared dream of.

It was not easy being a candidate from the middle of nowhere and having no real education. There was a lot that he had to learn very quickly, from reading and writing, to politics, status, and prejudices. No one thought that he would amount to much as “soft-hearted” as they perceived him to be. So when he impressed the only bronze in a clutch less than one year later, there was some anger among the other candidates.

P'kav quickly learned how the other side was treated though as he was pampered and given privilege. And he hated it. It made no sense to him. He was no different from the other weyrlings, and his dragon agreed that this was not right. Dharmath was a contemplative dragon that believed that one is all, and all is one. That we are all in this life together and should help each other. Dharmath also was prone to giving speeches to his fellow dragons, exciting them and motivating them, as well as always challenging his clutch mates and rider to forever be better than the day before.

It was a match that worked, maybe too well. By the time they graduated, the pair had a plan. The plan was to revolutionize the Weyr into a place that all could be valued for their merit and no one would be looked down for arbitrary standards. P'kav and Dharmath were humored for a few years, until it became clear that they weren’t going to toe the line and might actually be convincing some of the others to join the cause. They were quickly shipped of to Western Weyr with the explanation that it would be a better fit for all and that they would be happier there.

It was a bit of a culture shock for P'kav, and not entirely in a good way. He had grown used to the privilege that his dragon’s hide color gave him at High Reaches, and it shamed him to realize this. Also with the transfer he lost his purpose, the thing that had been driving him for the last few years. P'kav floundered for a bit at Western not sure what he wanted to do. He could try and change this Weyr to be even more equal, but he also didn't want to be pushed out of another Weyr. P'kav was not interested in ending up being transferred between Weyrs all over the place. He became restless though without the driving need to occupy him.

P’kav decided to travel some and get an idea of what the rest of the world was like. He didn’t go for long stretches of time, just enough to get an idea of a place and then returned to the Weyr. Somewhere along the way, P’kav took up painting and became to document his travels that way. He had always been one to sketch things growing up and when on a whim he bought a set of paints, he realized how much he had missed it.

Through out the years, P’kav did what any intelligent person would do. He studied people, learned about what made people who they were, contemplated civilization and the human need for power, made friends, enemies, and lovers. Never found his love though. He traveled and documented, continued to train and keep himself and Dharmath in shape mostly through aerial acrobatics. Taught children to think for themselves, and basically lived the life he wanted to. It helped that he always had a home to go back to, something he didn’t really think about until Thread fell.

When Thread returned, he was not at the Weyr but quickly returned to do what he could to help. When people started talking about how to handle the returned threat, and it was suggested that High Reaches had been right all along, P’kav was one of the voices that spoke up against that idea. The only way to structure the culture was not that of High Reaches. He had learned over time that it worked for some, but humans were not a ‘one answer for all sort’ of creature. P’kav was determined to protect the Western way of life while still protecting the world. To do that, it meant giving up his roaming and that was perfectly fine with him.

DRAGON
Name: Dharmath
Age: 21
Color: Bronze
Size: 44
Physical Description: Deep chested with muscled legs and a long tail.
Personality: Dharmath is a contemplative dragon that believed that one is all, and all is one. That we are all in this life together and should help each other. Dharmath also is prone to giving speeches to his fellow dragons, exciting them and motivating them, as well as always challenging his clutch mates and rider to forever be better than the day before. He will drive himself and those around himself until they are too exhausted to do anything without the tempering of his rider.

Name: Fa'rian (formerly Falorian)
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

Craft: n/a
Rank: n/a
Location: Western Weyr

Physical Description:
Fairly lean and average in height, he's got a round face that's not quite handsome so much as adorable in it's looks with vibrant green eyes. And always wearing a bright smile. His hair is long enough to reach just below his shoulder blades and a chocolaty brown in color. It's typically worn in either a braid or twisted up in some fashion.

Personality:
Fa’rian’s got one of those personalities that's so big, the whole room seems to light up when he enters. He is very much that guy that everyone seems to know. He's a very social and outgoing person who loves to talk – a lot – and make friends. People seem to be drawn to him with the way his presence seems to lighten up the atmosphere. A very charismatic gentleman, he knows how to smooth talk his way through the crowd and always seems to have just the right thing to say. He'll never talk poorly of anyone, no matter their rank or what color dragon they ride. He knows that not everyone is this laid back at High Reaches, but he just doesn't possess the ability to make someone feel lesser than they truly are. While he may have an outgoing personality big enough to make the shyest person warm up to him, he's also just a real friendly guy in general. He's learned to be a good listener to those that need someone to talk with, which is partially why he's become well liked by many. He's also always there for a friend in need and if you're having a bad day, he'll be right there to cheer you up!

However, while he does possess such a big heart with that charismatic nature, it also makes it very difficult for Fa’rian to say 'no' to things. Like taking on extra chores. Or letting someone take advantage of his kindness. Someone could ask him for the world and more and he'd certainly try to provide it. He just wants to make others feel welcome. Make them feel like at least one person appreciates they are there. He's just not the best judge of character when it comes to ways in showing this appreciation. Which is how he tends to get in over his head in some cases. And even then, he'll still try to do his best without admitting defeat.

For all his virtues and pleasant, easy to get along with exterior, Fa’rian is actually quite self-conscious about himself. It's why he tries so hard to make his appearance presentable. And lets his personality shine through, so that no one focuses too closely on him personally. He'll also grow very OCD in nature if he finds himself in any sort of relationship, wanting to look his absolute best for his significant other.

Positive Personality Traits: Charismatic, Cheerful, Encouraging

Negative Personality Traits: Overburdens Self, Self-Conscious, A tad OCD

History:
Born to a bubbly harper traveling the land, Falorian learned at an early age how to navigate the different terrains of Pern and set up a tent. His family was a medium sized caravan, traveling around to the many Holds and bartering their wares. Something the young Falorian greatly enjoyed. There were many people he was able to meet and ask all kinds of questions. Something that his caravan snickered about until they began to realize the boy had a talent for using his words. So, he was taught how to use his charismatic personality to sell goods. Or sweet talk another trader into a better deal. Really, Falorian just loved talking and helping his family out.

When he was around his fifteenth turn, his caravan happened to arrive at the infamous Benden Weyr. And, as luck would have it, it was about to have a hatching. This was a rare thing for folk such as they to witness. The caravan decided to linger at Benden Weyr, hoping to see the hatching. As fate would have it, their luck grew. In just under a sevenday’s time spent at the Weyr, the hatching begun. Falorian was beside himself with the opportunity to watch dragons hatch. And even more excited to have the chance to babble at the rider’s about said dragons. Sure, he’d been to a Weyr before, but there had never been this many rider’s about. However, none of them were expecting the very eager bronze hatchling that forced his way up into the Stands. A few people weren’t fast enough to avoid his claws or get batted by flailing wings until the bronze slumped right on to Falorian.

Falorian, why must you keep talking up here when your Nymarth needs you? The hatchling huffed at the boy, tail wiggling a little too much in excitement.

And Falorian became Fa’rian, rider of brown Nymarth. And they were quite the pair! The talkative charismatic boy with his overly energetic dragon. There was no part of the Weyr they had not explored by the time the pair had graduated from weyrlinghood. Nor was there anyone that Fa’rian had not spoken to.

When that fateful day occurred and Thread fell once again, Fa'rian found himself speechless for the first time in his life. Oh there had always been Harper songs sung about Thread. And tales spun about the dragonmen. But until that moment of devastation, it never really dawned on the young man what it would truly mean to ride a dragon. It was from that day, seeing so many not survive, that Fa'rian gave his whole heart to devote in helping the Weyrs become what Pern needed once again.

Other:
- Has the unfortunate gift of being able to find anything to talk about

DRAGON
Name: Nymarth
Age: 13
Color: Bronze
Size: 44.5' (Large)

Physical Description:
On the larger size of bronzes with nicely proportioned limbs and wings. His hide almost seems to mimic the blazing colors of a sunset and there is always a twinkle in his eye, hinting to the boundless energy this dragon has a difficult time keeping bottled up!

Personality:
A very eager dragon that has more energy than he knows what to do with. He greatly enjoys being on the go, exploring new terrain, or re-exploring old hangouts. But he does have a bit of a hard time focusing on one thing for a prolonged period of time. His attention span is very short and he’s constantly searching for new things to keep himself entertained. However, he very much likes to impress others. Especially his dragonkin. Like a puppy seeking the praise of its master, Nymarth wants praise and affection from those dragons he views as being higher up the food chain. Color plays no part. If a green is more dominant than he, Nymarth will seek praise from her as equally as from a more dominant brown.

Name: Tsuyat
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wing Rider(currently)
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Massage Crafter
Physical Description: Standing just above average for a man, Tsuyat has dark features and hair that is usually at odds with his strong boned face. Black hair shoots out of his head in angles that can only be contained by clipping it short to his head as it is super thick and unruly. The tan he has comes from days spent in the sun and only serves to deepen the dark features he was born into naturally. Strength shows in his arms, shoulders and chest from years working in Western Hold as a massage crafter. Though he has been spending the past few years as a rider the soft nature of his hands haven't turned to rough callouses yet, though he has been assured that over time this will change.
Personality: To give things is part of Tsuyat's nature, he wants to help he wants to give people things and time, it's just natural to him. If he has something that someone wants he's prone to just giving it to them without a second thought, something that meshes up with his blunt nature rather well since he'll often tell people things witout a second thought too. Anyone that wants to recieve something from him need only ask and he'll give others anything from his jacket to a massage on the fly to ease sore muscles from a day spent fighting Thread. All that time working as an apprentice gave him a long sort of patience that fits well with the other traits in his nature not the least of which is his kindness.

If his giving nature didn't give away his kindness then his desire to help others with everything gives it away pretty well. He'll spend time talking to his fellow wingriders if they're having a hard time and go above and beyond to see that they're content. No one need be sad around him if he can help it, though he might step on their toes if they ask for his opinions without expecting his blunt responses. It comes without much surprise that it's exacerbated with alcohol and he even becomes a bit coarse if spoken to roughly, belaying all of his kind words and helping natures until he wakes the next morning with a pounding headache. As sucn he rarely drinks any longer, be it at a party or a feast, his dragon is not happy with it when it happens anyway.

If pushed roughly he can shut down and become rather passive, willing to let others walk across him in the interest of keeping everyone happy, he isn't agressive by any means but he can be crafty and twisted when someone angers him. If he's come up with punishments that were a bit more creative it's only because he doesn't want to see anyone screamed at for hours and he'll twist it up so that they learn something even if they aren't enjoying it. What's the point of a punishment if someone doesn't learn something after all?
Positive Trait List Giving, Kind, Patient, Helpful
Negative Trait List Blunt, Crafty, Passive, Coarse when Drunk
History: Western Hold was a good place to grow into one's self compared to some of the other Holds on the wild Western continent so far from the traditionally poplulated areas of Pern. Tsuyat's father was a dragon rider and his mother a local healer that took the man in after a bad crash he suffered during a flight show with a traveling troupe. The rider had never intended to stay very long after the accident but the woman's kind nature and gentle hands convinced him to sweep her off her feet and the two still inhabit the area even after Thread began to fall. Growing up alongside his gentle mother and showman father with his playful blue dragon, there was little hope that the boy would be anything other than interesting and he chose his path quite early in life though he was a bit too young to follow it then. He stayed with his mother and learned techniques that would later serve him well in the Courtesan Hall with his chosen craft, but if his father had a free moment he would take him up in the air on the back of his blue dragon to see Pern from above. Only after his wife forced him to promise he would not risk their safety, of course.

And so it was that Tsuyat joined the Courtesan Hall when he was ten, wanting full well to use the techniques that his mother taught him but in a way to bring people happiness and relief that didn't involve him constantly stitching up cuts or seeing much blood. He did well in the Hall and advanced at a fair pace through the training thanks to the strength in his hands and arms and his willingness to learn in order to help people. That desire alone helped him in the eyes of his masters and it was a shock to them when he was Searched out from under their nose by a blue that resembled his father's quite strikingly. There was never a chance that he woudn't say yes after all the flights he went on, there was never a chance that he wouldn't use the things that he'd learned either and he quickly made a name for himself as the boy willing to spend his free time giving out massages for free just to keep his skills sharp. Learning in a Weyr was quite different than a Hall where he learned his craft almost exclusively, it was a challenge to know that his focus would be torn between so many things but he managed to keep his head above water and out of danger of failing for the first two years.

It turned out that was all he had to do, keep his head above water for two years until he met his perfect match on the Sands. Having not been expecting it as the rest of those around him, it hit Tsuyat as odd that all these Candidates around him that had stood for so long were left waiting on the next clutch while he walked away with his wonderful partner in crime only two years into it. But he couldn't argue with the bronze dragon's choice, he wouldn't have been allowed to even if he wished it! Where Tsuyat was hoping for a blue to return home with that might be able to join his father in his acrobatic displays that thrilled much of his home Hold, Yudueth demanded his attention and offered his love and gentle sweetness to his newly bonded lifemate to make up for any boistrous ideas that he might have intended to run off and employ. In fact the boistrous thoughts left his mind instantly and Yudueth brought out in him the general kindness and quiet hard working nature that his mother had instilled in him for years when he watched her work. He came to settle comfortably into the Weyr life and the wing he was placed into but he aspired a bit to something more.

Tsuyat got his wish for more when Thread returned and he was thoroughly surprised by how skilled his dragon was at burning it from the sky, even if the two of them scrambled to respond with the rest of their wing. Between his wingleader's quick-witted calls and Yudueth's swift flying they didn't lose anyone but there were scars and wounds to be had everywhere, even his dragon's tail was scarred up a bit. Many shifts the first few days wore them out but served to galvanize this new reality as the Pern that they were to live in for what would likely be the rest of their lives as finally members of their own wing were lost. He hated it. Tsuyat wanted nothing more than to be able to help the riders that he could, he spent his free time when he should have been sleeping with his dragon giving out massages to sore and run down riders so they could get back into the air. He sacrificed his own time for theirs and wanted to do even more, keeping his eyes open for a chance to do just that by advancing through the wings.
Other: Sometimes people need to tell him when he's giving too much of himself and his time to others and that he should focus on himself before he burns out.

DRAGON
Name: Yudueth
Age: 13
Color: Bronze
Size: 36'
Physical Description: Prone to being a little thin for his size this bronze is still strong despite that but if he isn't fed steadily on a schedule he can get far too thin for his frame and loses his stamina. When in peak condition, as is common as Tsuyat will force him to eat after he got too thin twice, Yudueth is formed well with strength in his torso and tail to keep him in the air for quite some time and help his acrobatic flairs. He has a few Threadscore scars over his tail from the first few days fighting it and miraculously avoided having any worse damage done with his skin by sheer force of skill while flying.
Personality: Yudueth is a kind and gentle dragon that cares about others almost as much as his rider, though he tends to view the world in a much more pessimistic vew than Tsuyat. The world is harsh but the bronze tries very hard to twist his own pessimistic thoughts into a soft kindness that he gives to others to show them how he cares. The softness aside, he does not at all take kindly to riders or dragons that look down on chromatics as if they weren't worth just as much as himself or any gold and he is more than willing to share his rather liberal opinions with any that cross him. It was his luck that he Impressed to his rider at Western rather than High Reaches because he might have upset the status quo and ended himself in a world of hurt with such views against his own metallics.
Yudueth's personal taste leans more towards green dragons than the glittering gold queens even if he'll chase the larger beauties and has on more than one occasion been guilty of making a show for them. Despite being smaller than most bronze dragons his body is lithe and acrobatic, leading him to take every opportunity to show off his flying prowess. This makes him more than a match for the slight green dragons during a flight, though Tsuyat usually holds him back with explicit instructions to not show off the way he likes. Yudueth still shows off to anyone that will watch, his eyes always open for a chance encounter.

Name: E’nd (formerly known as Endrind)
Age: 32
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Weyr: Western Wyer
Rider Rank: Wing rider
Previous Rank/Craft: Holder Son
Physical Description: Lanky fellow, rather thin framed man with a rather bountiful head full of dark chestnut curls that hangs in a ponytail along his back. A long thin nose, narrow chin and rather narrow pale blue eyes E’nd tends to come across more feminine in appearance than protruding a brutish appearance. It doesn’t help he has long slender fingers, little waist, bony shoulders and cheeks, and if he stood next to his mother he almost looks like the spitting image of her down to the same dour expression lingering in the eyes and thin lips.

Personality:
E’nd always was and always will be a rather ambitious man when it comes to some sort of level of status in life, and being a lady holder son hasn’t improved that way of thinking in the least. Despite his appearance and being his mother’s favorite child he learned a great deal when it came to his older siblings in how people worked and how to motivate beyond with praise or gifts versus the typical fear or promise of some sort of honor. While he has no goals in becoming a weyrleader he is more happy to play more of a background role in maintaining peace and making sure that everything works as smoothly as possible and will do anything to reassure that it will.

While he spends a great deal of time being concerned over the dealings of others, their workload, and their feelings E’nd has a nasty habit of not passing his own work along to others to ease his burden nor is he rather any good in expression his own feelings towards others. Instead he tends to keep a rather neutral face towards everyone, even if it tends to at times comes across as rather unapproachable in regards naturally looking angry at the world (something that his mother and him could not escape no matter how much of a pleasant face they attempted to offer). He tends to keep things bottled up inside, a habit that grew having very few to talk to back home that weren’t loyal to his brothers’ in someway.
Positive Trait List Calculating, Responsible, Ambitious
Negative Trait List Manipulative, Self-Burden, Impassive

History:
E’nd is the youngest child with three older brothers, each one fighting to become the heir in a little minor hold located in the northern continent. As a child he easily grasped the concept that in the hold, and in the world that there were those who where built stronger and those who were built with more brains than their counterparts. Being the later it was tough at first considering how easily he became the tool for his brothers ridicule and constant need to prove their strength to their father. Instead he leaned more to impressing his mother, who he learned despite his father’s poweress was rather clever in her own way and dealt a great deal with handling the in and outs of the mundane affairs of the hold. Not only did E’nd learned from his mother how important it was to have things run smooth and efficiently but learning how to in short words grease everyone wheels into wanting to play their part instead of forcing them into it.

For the most part E’nd life was happy for a little while other than the occasional altercation with his older brothers, however when his mother passed away things shifted from livable to worse. Wanting to prove his own worth he stepped in for his mother, handling smaller affairs around the household and the hold itself in hopes to keep it all moving smoothly. This however caught his older brothers’ eyes and despite any words or reassurance that he had no intention of inheriting the holder title they made his life a living torment. It started small with things going missing, or something added to his meals, but it progressed quickly into causing trouble around the hold such as food stock being moved and hidden and E’nd being blamed for incompetence. He dealt with most of it, as best he could until one of the little acts that was meant to threaten him to stop nearly cost him not only his own life but others as well. E’nd not wanting anything to befallen others decided it was best for him to leave, to find his own place somewhere far away from his brothers’ grasp.

Spending a great deal of time traveling to the south E’nd eventually was fortunate enough to be swept up in a search and brought to the Western Weyr and after a few unsuccessful hatchings he met Fadeth a rather tiny bronze to be his closes dear friend.

Other: Thannkkk yooouuu!

DRAGON
Name: Fadeth
Age: 13
Color: Bronze
Size: 36’
Physical Description: On the small side for a bronze, and like his rider Fadeth is a rather lanky frame dragon who has spent most of his own training into agility and grace. While he doesn’t seem all that imposing with a narrow chest and slender tail he can hold his own weight in out maneuvering most dragons and clever enough to use it against them. Being a lighter color of bronze Fadeth is a rather vain when it comes to his grooming and loves to make sure that he almost glitters when he is in the sunlight.
Personality: Fadeth is a caring soul and observant soul when it comes to dealing with not only E’nd but others in the weyr. He will do what he can to help others if they are willing to listen to his advice and will always encourage them to think before leaping into something foolishly. Fadeth believes that it is always better to have knowledge and cunning intelligence than simply using one’s muscles when a problem arises. He does take a great deal of pride in his small size and loves to find ways to out do and outshine those that are larger than he is, however he is a good sport for the most part and won’t rub his success towards others.

Her bearing and good posture could have come from noble breeding just as easily as intellectual studies.

With ash-blond hair, which features almost silver highlights, her greying temples and intermittent streaks are not readily noticeable. She keeps it long and it falls into natural curls; it could be wavy if she styled it or wild with ringlets if she did not.

Regarding her beauty, she has regular features that are merely pleasant to look at and even easily forgettable. She has no abnormal or striking features. Her body is tanned all over, including her face, but her skin has taken a only a moderate amount of weathering over the Turns. As a result of this and the fact that she rarely frowns or smiles, she has a minimum of wrinkles except around her eyes. She will likely age gracefully. As such, she could be any age between twenty-five and fifty. She can disappear into a crowd because she could be anybody. That is exactly the kind of person HarperHall likes to employ as a spy!

Clothing has typically not been an indulgence she could afford. That is to say, her life has been more or less nomadic, and over the Turns has on several occasions had to leave with little more than the clothes on her back. Regarding personal possessions as something she needs like she needs a dramatic romance, nevertheless she does enjoy dressing up for a Gather on the HarperHall's token, and since moving to the Weyr has enjoyed that permanence that would allow her to keep her own laying around. Or in a sturdy armoire acquired with her own hard-earned token.

Personality:
A cold fish on the outside, she is very hard to get to know. Though she relies on emotion as little as possible, she is just as easily caught up in them as anyone else. She just tries her utmost to set them aside for "more important" motives.

In her down time, she does not connect with people very easily. She rarely seeks or nurtures relationships. For those she cares deeply for, she may even show a barely restrained passionate side. However, because it is difficult to control and because she has been harmed in the past, she prefers passion that lasts for a night. Her work has always had her quickly moving from place to place, a status that further supported her availability status. She hates feeling awkward and unsure of herself, so now that she is stationed at Western Weyr, she does not know any other way to proceed with real relationships. Perhaps she will not need to bother with it still, or so she hopes.

At work she prefers to do things by the book-- because those rules work! As a result though, she can be rather rigid in practice. However, she tries to be practical and therefore does not waste resources on a doofy plan. And even if logic dictated a course of action or strategy, if new information arises, she will explore those other options. She does not care about who is right or wrong, just the result of the revised plan. She does not take offense or get defensive when she is wrong. Her lack of reaction may actually surprise people who wanted to get a rise out of her.

As she takes the side of logic and objectivity. She will bluntly offer her reasons for a decision, and can at times be rather callous. It is not that she regards people and dragons as objects or commodoties, but when at work on a plan involving statistics and charts, they sort of are. That said, for those she is responsible for, she shows an intense loyalty and protectiveness. Most of the time she expresses this rather distantly, in her actions out of sight and out of mind.

As an interesting and seemingly contradictory quirk, she has a problem with authority-- not because she challenges it, but because she knows freedom and lawlessness. She trusts the law through practice over the merit of individuals. She may find that Western Weyr has people of a different kind, who do rule by merit, or at least the choice of the people. As such she may come to respect it and its government, and support it freely. Only time will tell.

History:
Lhuzana's childhood was spent with one of the caravans of Western, who were friendly with and traded with Zanoma Camp. She was accustomed to dragons and enjoyed their strong and watchful presence. Traveling meant long hours under the sun. She learned a variety of skills, such as tending to the oxen and humans alike with basic first aid, repair work on the wagons, pitching camp, and selling wares.

She was sent to HarperHall because she showed an aptitude for drawing scenery, and her impeccable sense of direction lead to very accurate map making (for a child). She came highly recommended (with letter of recommendation) by the Harper traveling with her train at the time.

She returned home once she walked the tables, and while she fully intended to return to her old life, she came back subtly changed and never quite fit in ever again. However, she continued her new map making trade in her spare time, riding a runnerbeast (bought with her new Harper's salary) so that she could wander or stop as needed to continue her sketching. She would probably continue to do this for the rest of her life, with little interest in obtaining her Mastery, if not for several factors. Her training came at a cost and with a firm order: that she must send information back to the Hall very discreetly [perhaps via firelizard?]. She hates this part of her job.

Later, at the age of 23 she Impressed Green Fintrath and joined Zanoma Camp. She fed information to HarperHall about them, too. She still hated spying, even though these people seemed more like distant relations than the close family of her caravan.

[ Please let me know if the details of this clutch is not okay? ]
Fintrath, bless her heart, came from a clutch of eggs that were probably not the most legal on Pern to obtain. It was a loudly-whispered rumor that went around that captured Lhuzana's curiosity. She did not believe she would ever Impress, but she could not stay away. Then she watched people she knew both closely and distantly force themselves upon an unwilling hatchling. She learned just how strong a dragon's will can be as it made a bloody path through them. It was awe-inspiring.

One such hatchling made her way to Lhuzana. Fintrath's name whispered through her mind, echoing as if uncertain who might accidentally hear. It sounded different than an actual sound, but was just as muffled as a mumbling child, to Lhuzana. When their eyes met the fog evaporated immediately and Fintrath trumpeted her name for all to hear. I am Fintrath! Lhuzana is mine and nobody else's!

Live in the moment, plan for the future. She has at least two living children. As a dragonrider, she was able to abort at any time without repercussion. But she chose to have them because she believes that children are important for the future, perhaps more so than dragons and their riders! But she did not raise them or try to keep in contact with them. Instead, once each was old enough to be weaned, she left them in the care of the caravan while she flew off to explore the islands or escort the caravans. To her firstborn, her runner was given, however.

Quote:
Transferred to Western Weyr after Threadfall's return. She had been an explorer, but Fintrath was determined to fight Thread. To please her dragon she came to the Weyr, but feels trapped by the lifestyle.

She has a third child confirmed to have died in the first waves of Threadfall. Perhaps that is part of the reason for her decision to try to live at the Weyr: to protect the children of Pern.
