tab tab A member of the Sinnoh elite, Aussa was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Metaphorically speaking, anyway. She always had the best of the best, and usually that goes one of two ways. You know what I mean- Some are spoiled sweet. They throw their money around for the greater good and help others without even batting an eye. Others are so rotten they'd give garbodor a run for it's money. Aussa... Just became complacent. Whereas other kids longed for the day they could go on their pokemon journey, Aussa never even bothered, not even when her older brother gave her some pokemon he bred from his own. Sure, she played with them, but... Battling was just something she wasn't interested in.

Aussa's Story [ OC Trainer ] Easily intimidated and anxious by nature, Aussa has always shied away from the idea of pokemon battles, or even venturing into tall grass, despite having pokemon of her own. While she seems like she'd have a shy personality, Aussa is actually pretty social and goes out of her way to talk to people. It's when these attempts to make friends chat people up go wrong that her nervous streak shows, and she will retreat if people seem hostile to her or if they're just in a bad mood, and it takes quite a bit of encouragement for her to work up the will to speak up again. Generally, if someone is mean to her once, she'll go out of her way to avoid them if she sees them around, going so far as to leave a city or take extremely out of the way routes just so she doesn't have to deal with them again. Recently, in an attempt to get their daughter to grow a backbone and grow up a little, her parents kicked her out of the house. It sucks, but that's just the truth. They were nice enough to leave her with enough money to buy things but since she has no badges or anything, she's pretty limited in terms of what she can get. As such, she relies on cooking and pokemon centers to keep her pokemon healthy. Pokémon Team: Rockruff, Vulpix, Poochyena, and an egg. My fellow RPers get to decide what it hatches into! It hadn't taken long for her to learn that this island was... Really out of her league. Aussa had heard a bit about Poni Island from some folks in the mall, just enough to inspire some curiosity. Now that she was here, though, she sincerely regretted coming. It wasn't that the island wasn't nice, or anything- It was actually quite pretty. It was just that she... Well, she couldn't go anywhere. Her first foray outside of the village had ended in all three of her pokemon getting wiped out. If her sprint back to the village had been timed, she was sure she'd have beaten some records. That was how fast she'd come running back to town, with her tail between her legs- Figuratively, of course. So, now she was stuck waiting for the next ferry back to HeaHea City. It wasn't all bad, though- The man working the cafe counter had to have seen just how sorry she looked, because he'd given her a small bag of pokebeans, a cookie, and can of lemonade. That's what she liked about Alola. People here really took care of their neighbors, and the pokemon did too, judging by the way they were so quick to jump to each others defense. It sure beat being left on her own in Sinnoh or something. Sitting there on the dock with her feet in the water and Jax resting his fluffy head in her lap, it was easy to push thoughts of other places out of her head and just kick back, relax, and enjoy what life had to offer. Idly, she scratched the rockruff's head, ruffling his soft fur with her gentle touch.
It was wonderful, until she felt something nudge her foot in the water. Wet, hard and scaly. The girl let out a yelp and instantly moved her legs up. Poor Jax felt his warm head rest slip away and get replaced with the hard wood of the dock. Instantly, she felt a pang of guilt as he looked up at her with a tilted head and a confused look. "S-sorry, Jax..." Aussa's apology was sincere, but she still didn't move her legs back down for him to climb on, not until she got a good look at the water. Her cheeks reddened ever so slightly in embarrassment once she saw the tell tale orange scales and whiskers. A magikarp. With a sigh, she lowered her feet back into the water and smiled sheepishly at Jax, who simply snorted in response as he maneuvered his way back into her lap and curled up. She put her left hand on top of his head and gave him a few pats on the head as she watched the magikarp swim around and bump into her feet. "Ooh, he's kinda lively, huh?" Plenty of people had told her that magikarp were useless pokemon. Personally, she didn't agree. She didn't think there were any useless pokemon. But magikarp were kinda cute, as far as she was concerned. Aussa liked their whiskers and the way they splashed around. She also felt like they had plenty of things in common, but was pretty eager to keep that to herself. Her sheepish smile turned into a playful grin as the magikarp swam right under her foot and pressed up against it. Did fish like to get pet, too? Careful not to disturb her rockruff a second time, she arched her foot out in a prime petting position, making sure that she went along the grain of the pokemon's bright scales as she ran her foot over it's back, avoiding the fin. The fish rubbed against her feet, pressing it's body into her toes to achieve maximum pat status. Aussa couldn't help but giggle. A pokemon this cute definitely deserved a treat. She reached into her bag and pulled out a couple of the pokebeans she'd been given earlier.
She crumbled it in her hands and tossed a couple of the pieces into the water. It wasn't quite like feeding Luvdisc at aquariums or anything, but had the same effect. The magikarp gobbled each piece down without a second thought, and she tossed the whole handful in, letting the pokemon go to town as she dusted off her hands. The sound of splashing and the promise of food brought more bright orange shapes to her little area at the dock and Aussa crumbled up a couple more of the yummy beans before throwing them into the water. She surveyed the frenzy of magikarp. "That's definitely... A lot..." She thought as she tossed more bits and pieces of beans into the water. Hopefully it wouldn't attract anything bigger- She didn't really know what lurked in the waters of Poni Island. But this close to the dock, she doubted that anything too big would come along. So, she kept her feet in and kept feeding the magikarp. Who knew when their next meal would be? It was a big tough world out there, but maybe if she helped them out now, it would make it a little less tough in the long run for them.╚═══════❈═══════╝rockruff-vulpix-poochyena-egg

You'd think the promise of food would keep the magikarp near, but as Aussa heard footsteps coming up the dock, she watched all of the bright fish pokemon swim away, including the one that had started the whole thing.
"Aww..." What a shame. She still had plenty of beans left to give, too. Oh well. She focused her attention on the boy who had walked up, and listened to his apology and his question. "It's alright. If they ate any more, they'd probably get too fat to swim, maybe." She said with a smile, though it faltered somewhat as she continued. "Sorry, I haven't seen anyone who looks like that- Um, I haven't really been too far beyond the village, though..." She trailed off, trying to think of who a good person to ask would be. A couple of different options popped into her head, and she pointed towards the Pokemon Center first. "Maybe you could ask the nurse in there if she's seen her? Or the man at the cafe?" The logic was sound- Even people who weren't trainers visited Pokemon Centers often. They had guide books and other nice things to help folks who were travelling. But that wasn't the only option she had to give.
"If she isn't there, you could also try checking the restaurant." Truth be told, she'd been avoiding the wailord shaped ship on the assumption that it was like the buffet at the mall. But eventually Jax had convinced her to go in and they'd both been pleasantly surprised when it was just a normal restaurant. "They have good noodles, and it seems like trainers go there a lot." Even if the person he was looking for wasn't in either of those places, there was a good chance they'd have at least seen her. Maybe his friend had even told them where she was headed. Holding Jax in her arms, she withdrew her feet from the water and stood up. "I can help you look around the village, if you'd like-
I can't go any farther than that, though." She offered, hoping he wouldn't ask why she couldn't leave the village. "Because I'll get my butt kicked and I don't really wanna admit that." She thought. It was only human- No one in the world wanted to acknowledge that they were too weak for something, even if it was true. No one she knew, anyway.╚═══════❈═══════╝rockruff-vulpix-poochyena-egg

Aussa watched the stranger walk away, feeling kind of bad that she hadn't been able to help him out. Jax wiggled around in her arms and yipped loudly, clearly wanting to be set down. She obliged and bent down, freeing her pokemon from her grasp. "I hope he finds whoever he's looking for." Jax barked in agreement, wagging his fluffy tail as he bounced around Aussa in circles as she put her shoes back on. "Calm down, just a bit- It's all fun and games until someone gets mad and makes me put you in a pokeball." She chided, half playful, half serious. You never knew what was gonna set someone off these days. Poni Island seemed very relaxed, but some trainers had a bit of a hair trigger. The last thing she wanted was for Jax to accidentally bump into someone and get stuck battling someone two hundred times stronger than her. The rockruff slowed to a trot and walked alongside Aussa as they strolled aimlessly around the docks. Going by the time, they had at least forty minutes to kill until the next ferry arrived. It wasn't all that long in the grand scheme of things, but there wasn't really much to do in the village.
"That's just kinda the curse of small towns, though." And the charm. With a sigh, she stopped walking and sat down in front of the big tree. Without skipping a beat, Jax crawled straight into her lap and she snorted in response. "Is that all I am to you? A pillow?" She asked, giving his ear a quick scritch. All the rockruff did was kick his leg once before passing out. What a dork. Aussa leaned back against the tree and focused her gaze towards where she knew the ferry would dock once it came. It was time to play the waiting game. Maybe she could think of new recipes or something?╚═══════❈═══════╝rockruff-vulpix-poochyena-egg

Just as she was ready to doze off, Aussa heard the tell tale fog horn and sat up. It was here! The ferry was finally here! In one fluid movement, Jax was scooped up into her arms and she was on her feet, sprinting towards the boat. Poni Island was... Nice and all, with it's super strong pokemon and cute village, but she just wanted to get back to Hau'oli City and find a hotel or something. She stopped at the edge of the dock and waited for the ferry to finish docking and unload its current passengers. A clumsier person would probably have fallen off, but Aussa was actually pretty good when it came to her balance. She'd been on boats- Or rather, one specific boat- most of her life, so it was kind of just second nature to her. It didn't take long for the ferry to welcome people aboard. But, as luck would have it, she was the only person who needed to go, it seemed. The captain smiled at her as she came on, and spoke. "Headed out already?" He clearly remembered her from the last run. Aussa nodded. "I'm a little out of my element here, haha..." She knew the laugh she'd squeezed in at the end probably sound a little pitiful. But the captain just shrugged. "Plenty of folks come here to see the sights, you're not the first one to come unprepared." He stated with a half smile. Hearing that made her perk up a bit, and she laughed. "I'm sure they'll come back stronger, next time. It wasn't so bad, you know? People were pretty nice to me." The captain nodded in agreement. "They're probably pretty used to folks like yourself, by now." He stated matter of factly, and Aussa had to agree. It made sense, that was for sure. She was about to speak when a pidgey popped up between the both of them, hovering in front of her. Funny, she hadn't even heard the sound of wings... The pokemon dropped the letter on top of Jax's head- The rockruff was still sound asleep in her arms, despite that. If he'd woken up at all during the sprint to the ferry or during the conversation with the captain, he sure didn't show it. The letter hadn't even disturbed him at all.
The captain eyed the letter as they walked onto the bridge of the ship. "That pidgey looked pretty tired. He must've been flying for a while." Aussa felt a little guilty- She hadn't even given the bird a second glance. The girl turned around, figuring it would've followed them in, but the pidgey was nowhere to be found. "Ah, he flew off the second he dropped the letter. He probably had more to deliver, don't worry about it." Reassured by the captain's words, she nodded and took a seat close to the steering wheel. Setting Jax down in her lap, she took the letter and opened it while the captain got the boat moving. Taking in the contents, she frowned. Was this some kind of joke? Her mother had always warned her about scammers and con artists, and that was her first thought, honestly. She'd never heard of any resort with the name... Not that she really knew any resorts off the top of her head, either. Getting invitations to things you didn't sign up for was pretty high on her mother's list of 'Things to call scams.' "But Mom isn't here right now." And, honestly, Mom had told her to grow a backbone. So, why not try this out? "Um, Captain?" She asked, trying to get his attention. "Hm?" He kept his eyes on the sea, but it was clear that he was listening. "Have you ever heard of Westley's Pokemon Resort and Winter Training Grounds?" The name was certainly a mouthful. From her point of view, she could see the captain's frown as he spoke. "Not of the top of my head, no. Why ask?" He sounded curious. "This letter is an invitation to it, with complete with directions... But... I have no idea why anyone would send me something like this." She wasn't a strong trainer, and it wasn't like she participated in anything that would pique anybody's interest. Try as she may, she just couldn't figure out why she would be invited to what seemed like such a fancy resort.
"Directions?" He looked away from the wheel and motioned her over. "Let's see 'em." Quick to comply, Aussa moved Jax off of her lap and onto the seat before hopping up and walking over. She held out the letter, and the captain glanced over it, keeping one hand on the wheel. Once he was finished, he handed it back to her. "It seems kinda fishy, if I'm gonna be honest." He remarked. "But it's not too far out of the way for me- I can take you to a port close to it, judging by the directions. From there you'd have to find your own way, if you want to go." The offer was tempting. "Y'know, I think I'll take you up on that." She said, smiling brightly. "Thank you for the offer!" The captain nodded and turned the wheel, setting a new course. "You're welcome, kiddo. I know some folks in the port we're headed to, so if you want to get a ride back, ask around and see if people know Captain Lodger. They'll know how to reach me." With that, everything was set, and they were on their way.
Standing before the resort, though, Aussa couldn't help but feel like she'd made another error in her judgement. She'd stocked up on a couple of groceries just in case the resort food was too expensive, and bought a coat and three pairs of mittens at the last minute, just as a precaution. You never knew when you'd lose a mitten, you know? The invitation had asked that she leave her fire pokemon home, but... Daja was just too important to her to leave in a PC. All of her pokemon were. She figured it would be fine as long as she didn't let Daja out of the ball- The vulpix hated being cold, anyway, so she figured Daja would prefer it that way regardless. Looking at it now, though, it seemed like the resort as empty as could be. "Aw, I guess it was a scam after all..." She watched a snowball hit one of the windows, and focused on the person throwing it. Jax peeked out at from the hood of her coat- It was just perfect for his size, so she'd let him ride in there on the trip up- and barked at the stranger, who seemed pretty upset. Aussa hid a frown. She hadn't really wanted to interact with the person, not just yet... People who were in bad moods had a tendency to take it out on the first thing they could. But, since Jax had announced her presence, she walked over to the man and spoke up. "Um, you wouldn't happen to be the manager, would you?" Already, she doubted it. "Or did you get an invitation, too?" That seemed a little more likely, honestly.
