Tangaroa wandered around the lab, reaching out to touch things that caught his eye, his curiosity all-encompassing. What were all of these things, and who were these beings, who had released him into this loud, odd-smelling place? What was he, for that matter? He raised a hand, fingertips tugging lightly at his own hair. The texture was interesting...and substantially different from his skin. It was also a bright, appealing red-orange color, he noted with satisfaction.
Narrowing his eyes, a flask on a nearby table caught his attention, prompting him to float in that direction, and to drag his fingers deliberately across its surface. He wasn't really sure what it was, he concluded, leaning closer to peer inside, as he pushed a little harder on it with his fingertips. It fell to the ground with a rather satisfying noise, he noted with some degree of satisfaction.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a beautiful day...fall was becoming winter, so while the sun was shining, it was cool outside, with a distinct snap in the air.
Unfortunately, Ki was far too stressed to properly enjoy it. For someone who tried hard to be relatively unflappable, it was not a state she appreciated. She was still not quite feeling like herself after an extremely unpleasant stint in prison abroad, and had returned to her long-empty apartment, only to discover that a pipe had apparently exploded months ago, and no one had either noticed or cared, and her landlord had wanted to hold her responsible for the damages.
They had finally reached an agreement, leaving her with a splitting headache, unsteady hands, and the knowledge that she needed to find temporary housing until the apartment could be repaired.
With all of that in mind, she had very nearly forgotten that she was due at the lab to pick up her...raevan (she still wasn't quite sure what they were, exactly...if she were honest) if a reminder had not arrived the day prior. Also, given her unpleasant first encounter with the soul she'd captured for it, she couldn't help a small degree of...apprehension.
Sighing, she locked the door to her much-abused apartment, heading down the stairs to start making her way there.

Normally, Lazarus was tasked as the person to be keeping an eye on newborn Raevans when they emerged. And even though he is no longer a jobless bum that lives with his 'father' at home, he still had to keep an eye on them when he can. Well nevertheless, when he wasn't at work at the bar in the evening, he does his best to accommodate the newborns during the day. Although most of the time he just leaves them be to wander the Lab on their own, and he will keep an occasional eye on them from a distance.
Today was no different, as he watched from the windows at the door to the Lab's main area while making lunch in the kitchen.
He frowned when the newborn Raevan deliberately pushed a flask off a table, like a cat would without care. There wasn't a hint of guilt on the Frei's face as well.
Just as sudden, Lazarus decided to enter the lab rather loudly as he pushed the door open, the metal hinges making a loud noise as they rotated. The Valsaros looked angry as he began to walk towards the Frei, leaving the door to swing back and forth behind him. "That's dangerous!" Lazarus shouted as he pointed at the Frei, then at the shattered glass on the floor. "What if it's filled with some abrasive or dangerous content? Like acid or something?!" Thankfully it was empty, but that's not the issue here as he crouched down to pick up the bigger pieces.
Where the hell is this fella's guardian anyway? She said she would be here soon.

Tangaroa smirked, finding he rather enjoyed the other raevan's...irritation? Exasperation? He wasn't really sure what the other was feeling, but his expressions were entertaining. Eyeing another similarly-fragile-looking object with interest, he sighed, deciding to restrain himself from a second experiment with gravity... for now.
Recognizing that he owed Lazarus some sort of response, he shrugged. "It looked empty." he said, cocking his head ever-so slightly to the side as he watched the Valsaros begin picking up pieces of glass. Tangaroa made no motion or offer to assist, instead choosing to stare curiously at Lazarus.
"What are you?" He asked, after a moment or two of intense scrutiny. He had noticed that humans had legs, and Lazarus did too-but Lazarus didn't appear to be fully human, either, which was somewhat puzzling.---------------------------------------------------------- Breathing heavily, Ki wove through the people that seemed to clog the streets, trying to read the directions she'd been given as she did so. "What is it, a fricken parade?!" She muttered impatiently as she got stuck behind yet another group of people who seemed to be sightseeing. Hopefully there was no repercussions for what was looking like it was going to be substantial tardiness, on her part.

Lazarus doesn't really care or mind if Tangaroa didn't help. Most Frei are like this, clueless, or doesn't care. Here's to hoping that he will learn some manners or common sense when he goes home with his guardian.
Which reminds him. He glanced at the clock on the wall at the time right now. It is five past 1pm in the afternoon. The appointment was for 1pm. Well, he suppose not everyone will be punctual. Especially with the traffic outside right now during lunch hour. There's a popular farmer's market today nearby as well, that only happens once a week. Perhaps she is caught in that crowd or is distracted somewhere in there. Not much he could do other than wait he suppose.
Having picked up most of the bigger pieces, he dumped them into a trash bin nearby and begins to go and get a broom to sweep up the rest. "Me?" That was a weird and somewhat rude question. "I'm a Raevan, just like you. But fully grown." He motioned towards the ribbons that formed most of the Frei's lower body, then motioned at his own, hoping that he gets the idea. "You'll be like me someday." He said before getting a broom and a dustpan from a closet nearby.

Tangaroa cocked his head to the side, all thoughts of knocking something else off the table next to him forgotten.
"Really? When?" Continuing to stare (blatantly), now the Frei looked somewhat doubtful.
"Do you prefer walking to floating, then?" He asked, after a brief moment of mulling this over. Seeing Lazarus glance at the clock, he wondered what the pointed glance had been about. Edging slightly in Lazarus' direction, he didn't even notice when one of his back fins almost knocked a small, stoppered bottle over as his expression became more focused, curiosity getting the better of him.
"What does that do?" He asked, pointing at the clock. "And why did your face change after you looked at it?"
Leaning backward slightly, he braced his elbows on the table behind him, looking expectant.
...clearly, his approach was to bombard those around him with as many questions as possible, without waiting for answers to the previous ones.---------------------------------------------- Rolling her eyes at yet another couple who stopped in the middle of the walkway in front of her to coo over some sort of homemade knicknacks, Ki almost pickpocketed them from sheer annoyance...but she restrained herself. Barely. She was finally close to the lab, at least. Breaking free (at last!) from the crowd, she hurried to the front door, knocking twice (possibly louder than was polite), exhaling softly as she did so. kyoupi Omg kill me now plz...or kick me next time I take more than a few days to reply Dx

In the short span of Lazarus sweeping the rest of the glass pieces into the dustpan and throwing it into the rubbish bin, he had lost count of how many questions the new Frei had asked. Well, he still caught some of those and decided to humor him a little bit.
"One day, you will grow legs." He was purposefully being vague about it. However, the next answer he had to mull over a little bit. "It feels different, walking and floating." Lazarus said as he looked at his legs instinctively. "Having legs can be a little troublesome, but not having them is also kind of restrictive as well. There are some things you can't do without a lower body." He explained as he looked at the Frei, wondering how much of this is he taking in. "Personally I prefer having legs." Perhaps he should have just said that.
Lazarus forgot what the other question was already, but it doesn't matter as he heard a knock on the front door. "Ah, I think that's your guardian." The Valsaros turned and walked towards the front of the Lab, letting the woman in. He didn't bother to see if the Frei was following him or not. "Welcome to the Lab." Lazarus smiled as he extends a hand to Ki.

Tangaroa blinked. He wasn't sure quite what to make of that - he'd grow them? They looked so....clumsy, compared to floating, but he was curious enough that he found he was rather looking forward to one day finding out what that was like.
"Like what?"" He asked, not picking up on the hint that Lazarus wasn't overly enthused to be answering his (admittedly many) questions. He opened his mouth again, then closed it with an almost audible snap as there was a knock on the door, followed by the Valsaros' statement as he turned to go open it. "Guardian?" Tangaroa mouthed silently, not sure how he felt about that
He floated over to hover at Laz's shoulder, eyeing the new arrival with curiosity.
Ki smiled back, the slight flush along her cheekbones the only indication that she'd rushed in trying to mnimize how late she was. "Hi there - and thanks. Sorry for being so late," she said it easily, but made no other attempt at making excuses. She blinked as she noticed Tang, who appeared behind Lazarus. Those ******** fins... she barely suppressed a shudder, remembering how badly the lionfish whose soul she'd captured had stung her. She'd be doing her best to stay well away from his spines, just in case the frei's were similarly venemous. Tilting his head slightly to the side, Tang floated a little closer to Ki, noticing...something in her body language that he couldn't quite put a finger on - she seemed to have tensed up when she saw him, although her expression hadn't shifted.
"Who are you?" He asked, not realizing how rude it sounded (and truthfully, he likely wouldn't have cared if he had).
