Picture: Doesn't look like much of a threat, does she?Name: Abaress Magraner
Age: 19
Race: Human, despite her curse.
Personality: Like most of the women in her family, Abaress is true as steel and will happily lay down her life for any cause she believes in, no matter how futile it may be. While she generally takes a background role when it comes to groups, Aba is a natural leader and has no problem taking command of a situation, especially if she thinks things are getting out of hand. This can put her at odds with people, since most folks don't enjoy being bossed around. She is at ease travelling alone or with people, and will always be honest if there's something bothering her. If she doesn't like someone, she'll tell them- None of that gossip girl stuff. You'll always get honesty in the purest form, although some folks might not like that. She enjoys reading and is pretty smart, theoretically- She understands the idea behind things she's read, but that doesn't mean she's able to pull it off. Kinda like reading about a surgery, and then trying to actually perform one. But she'll give people ideas if she thinks they're capable of putting them to use. Aba has a bit of a one track mind when it comes to her end goal, and who could blame her? When push comes to shove, though, she isn't above getting a bit sidetracked for the greater good.
Biography: Abaress is from a long line of women suffering from an ancient curse. Long ago, one of her ancestors killed a sacred dear, and as retribution, a curse was placed upon all of his daughters. They would take the form of the beast who'd been slain and wander the woods, attacking anything that came into their path with enough fury to send even the bravest men running. There's more to the story, and to the curse, but Aba tends to be sparse with the details. Long story short, though, these women had to undergo quests to gain scales from Serpentra, a massive oceanic monster, to cure their curse. Two failed and died, and the remaining one simply gave up, settling down with a man who wasn't afraid of what she became. This went on and on, and soon, the curse stopped showing up as the bloodline thinned out. Figuring that the curse had simply worn off, the people who did remember it just let the memory fade too. A couple thousand years later, the curse manifests in Aba. Needless to say, this caused a pretty big stir. At the time, she'd been training to be a sorceress at a prominent academy in her area. Her mentor was... Pretty surprised and subdued her after a long fight, and got to researching. Aba was quarantined while they did their best to scrounge up some info. She wasn't tortured or anything, and was actually taken care of quite well. But no one wants to be a prisoner in a room twenty four hours a day seven days a week. She escaped pretty easily- After all, it was a school, not a prison. Aba took their research with her, which was pretty extensive. It detailed her family's history, giving info both on the origin of the curse and the feat needed to cure it. And so, our friend here has just set out on her quest to see whether this is true or not.
Misc: Aba seeks the scales of
Serpenta, and must slay it in combat at some point to cure herself of her curse.
-Abaress does not have any control over this transformation or her actions while she's in it. She will attack anything and everything, regardless of how close she is to someone. There are no exceptions.
-Curse form is a
stag. Don't question it.
Shush! -Her curse will go into effect the moment the sun has set and end when the sun starts to rise. Hopefully, she's not around anybody when it happens.
-Aba's magic is completely plant based. She is a strong cc mage who conjures briars, thickets, and super thorny rose bushes to trap her enemies and slowly tear them apart. Folks who have fought her say that when they get caught in her spells, it's like they're getting strangled with barbed wire. She can also summon vines that lash at people, but generally doesn't because they will target her allies and herself since they just don't know any better.
-When in curse form, Abaress is extremely strong and dangerous, what with those massive antlers that are just perfect for goring people. With razor sharp hooves, the kicks from her powerful legs can deal some catastrophic damage, and combined with the claws in back, she can rip off massive chunks of flesh if people aren't careful. Aba does have access to her magic and will absolutely send out extra thorny roses and briars to entangle people so she can run them down.
-Aba has inherited several plots of land from her family, most are just wild patches of forest. However, there are two special ones- A fancy yet rundown estate and a thermal hot spring up in the mountains. If we don't visit the hot spring, we fail at life.
-She can use any book as a focus to cast her magic. But no matter what, she needs a book. Unlike more talented people, Aba can't just use her hands and snap her fingers to cast stuff.
