Explosion Release (爆遁, Bakuton, Viz: Explosive Style) is a combined nature transformation kekkei genkai suggested to be made up of techniques that mix earth and lightning-based chakra to give the wielder the ability to utilise explosive chakra in combat. The only known users of this nature were members of Iwagakure's Explosion Corps.

Explosive Clay

By using the technique's ability to knead chakra into objects through the mouths in the palms of his hands, Deidara can infuse clay with explosive chakra. He then moulds it into a shape depending on the abilities he wants it to have and spits it out. After moulding the clay, Deidara can enlarge it to various sizes depending on the intended purpose of the clay. Once enlarged, the clay creations can be brought to life and controlled remotely by Deidara, who can then detonate the clay by saying "katsu" (?) and performing the seal of confrontation.

Clay Ranking

Deidara ranks his clay by number in a fashion similar to the C-4 explosive, the weakest being C1 and the most powerful being C4. The other clay ranks are much more dangerous than C1, and any foe that sees Deidara use any rank higher than C1 is usually one Deidara sees as a worthy opponent:

• C1: Deidara's most basic and versatile form of explosive clay created from a single palm mouth. These are small animated dolls that often resemble small birds or insects, though he has once made snakes, fish and some misshapen-like creatures controlled by Deidara through a wire made out of clay which could regenerate themselves, while multiplying. They have little explosive power, making them excellent for covert operations. He can release them at high speeds.

• C2: "Dragon" (C2ドラゴン, Shī Tsū Doragon): One of Deidara's specialties; a large dragon, capable of flight. While Deidara is safely on its back, the dragon spits out smaller clay figures that attack the opponent like guided missiles. The dragon also produces clay mines, which are used to force opponents to fight in a limited space.

• C3: Deidara's most powerful large scale bomb, an enormous, roughly human-shaped statue that Deidara drops on targets from above. Its explosive power was great enough to apparently destroy a large portion of Sunagakure.

• C4: "Garuda" (C4カルラ, Shī Fō Karura): A giant doll, shaped like Deidara himself. When it ruptures, a cloud of microscopic bombs is released. Impossible to be seen by a normal eye, the victims breathe in the bombs, which then enter the bloodstream. Once there, the countless micro-bombs explode, causing the victims' bodies to disintegrate at the cellular level, literally turning them into dust. According to Deidara, he created C4 for the sole purpose of defeating Itachi. Unlike the other Explosive Clay techniques, Deidara consumes the clay using his actual mouth instead of the ones on his hands.

• C0: "Ultimate Art" (究極芸術, Kyūkyoku Geijutsu): Deidara's most powerful technique; a suicidal technique in which he eats a large ball of clay with the mouth on his chest. This consumes his entire body, condensing the body into a large black sphere with jagged teeth and pupil-less eyes. The sphere then opens up and detonates, destroying everything within a blast that covers more than ten kilometres

Weak To: Limited by the supply of clay possessed, repeated usage may drain supply (NO INFINITE CLAY ALLOWED). Since they are all earth-based techniques, they can be defused by a lightning technique.

T r a i t s:
• The explosions created by the Physical Method are directed forward, meaning the user is not directly harmed by them.
• The explosions created by the Clay Method form typical blasts, meaning the user can be harmed by them.
• Techniques of the Clay Method are formed by the user molding clay with their additional mouths while giving said clay chakra.
• Bakuton users have minimal experience in genjutsu. (Moderately more susceptible to, and slightly less effective with genjutsu.)

B e n e f i t s:
• Physical Method users are accustomed to needing to get in close to use their abilities. Natural increase one rank in speed.
• Clay Method users are born with molding mouths on their body, and deep chakra pools.

Physical ○ Techniques:

• Bakuton: Poppu [Explosive Release: Pop]
Range: Must touch the user
A skill used mostly for disarming an opponent, but can also be used for typical combat purposes. The user will first concentrate their explosive chakra into their index and middle fingers. They will then attempt to 'poke' the target's limbs, typically the wrist when attempting to disarm, releasing a small explosive charge. The explosion is not very powerful at all, but it can still singe and offset when executed properly.

• Bakuton: Bakuno [Explosive Release: Detonate]
Range: Must hit the target to explode charge
The user slaps or chops his/her intended target with a simple chakra enhanced hand, releasing an explosive charge on contact. Because of its simple method, low cost, and effective results, this is a more commonly seen Bakuton technique.

• Bakuton: Baku Shuuha [Explosive Release: Explosive Wave]
Range: Short (2 Feet)
Explosion Range: Width as the User's palm
Rather than making contact and releasing the explosion upon the enemy, the user will stop their hand about two feet from his/her target. At this distance, the user will quickly pulse chakra through their hand in order to create a short-range withheld blast, roughly the same width as the user's palm. The blast travels about three feet, but the focal point is at its center.

Clay ○ Techniques:

• Bakuton: Baku Tama [Explosive Release: Explosive Bullets]
Range: Short (2 Feet) - Long (15 Feet)
Explosion Range: 2 Feet
The user molds five small pellets of their explosive clay into their hands, adjusts them to his/her fingers, and then flings them off with necessary force. When the pellets make contact with a surface, each will create a minor explosion. Weak on their own, but powerful when used creatively.

• Bakuton: C1 [Explosive Release: C1]
Range: Short (2 Feet) - Long (10 Feet)
Explosion Range: 2 Feet
One of the most basic and versatile forms of explosive clay, created from a single palm mouth. The user creates small animated dolls, often resembling animals. Depending on the variation created, they will retain the abilities of the creatures they where modeled after. (For example, those resembling birds can still fly, spiders can crawl and climb, etc.) This feature combined with their minor yet still effective explosive power, makes them excellent for all sorts of operations.

• Nendo Bunshin no Jutsu [Clay Clone Technique]
Range: Short (3 Feet) - Long (10 Feet)
Explosion Range: Not very wide, but rather focused, making it a prime choice of blast for captured targets
Above all other clone techniques, this one functions with a powerful dual-role. It acts as a substitute and a trap for capturing the enemy. Made from clay, this clone can take attacks and capture the enemy by taking them into its own body. The clone shows its natural shape and gray color the instant it succumbs to an attack. When a weapon or limb makes contact, the clay will become more viscous, attempting to absorb and constrict the attacker. If exploding clay is added to the clone, it can be made to detonate after capturing its target. (Please see Suicide Bombing Clone.)

• Bakuton: Jibaku Bunshin [Explosive Release: Suicide Bombing Clone]
A powerful addition made to the Clay Clone Technique. During the initial creation of the clone, the user will entrust it with explosive chakra, allowing it to detonate on command or after succumbing to an attack. The explosion made is not very wide, but rather focused, making it a prime choice of blast for captured targets. (Each modified clone costs an additional [15] chakra to create.)

• Bakuton: Hiraken [Explosive Release: Landmine Palm]
Range: 2 Feet
Explosion Range: 2 - 10 Feet
A weak version of the Landmine Fist technique. The user performs a hard palm thrust, attempting to strike a weak point in the target's defenses. At the same moment as the impact, he/she will release explosive chakra in an instant, causing a moderate blast which will push the two parties from one another. This technique can also be manipulated to create distance.

• Bakuton: Tsuin Hariken [Blast Release: Twin Landmine Palm]
Range: 3 Feet
Explosion Range: 2 - 10 Feet
With a bit more training, the user will be able to release the Landmine Palm technique with both hands at the same time. (This is done as if using the technique twice in one instance, so it will consume the needed chakra twice.)

• Bakuton: Tsuchi Iten [Explosive Release: Earth Rising Blast]
Range: Close (4 Feet) - Long (15 Feet)
Explosion Range: 10 - 15 Feet
A technique whose name is a bit more frightening than its effects. The user places his/her hands to the ground while releasing explosive chakra. After a short period of time, they will rip their arms up in a swift yank, causing an explosion which tears the terrain upward in chunks. Typically used to create mild barriers or to simply destroy the flooring.

• Flashbang
Range: Close (3 Meters) - Long (20 Meters)
Explosions are a blast. Self evident as the fact might be, but people still need to be reminded every now and again. Not every blast however does explosive damage however, as this jutsu points out. Taking the 'oh pretty' approach to blasts, this is started by preforming the handsigns, and causing a small colored camera flash like effect to attract attention. Three seconds later, after it attracted their attention, an incredibly bright flash flies out, blinding looking at it, including the user for three posts.

Clay ○ Techniques:

• Bakuton: Kibaku Mappa [Explosive Release: Exploding Minion]
Range: Close (2 Feet) - Long (10 Feet)
Explosion Range: 2 - 10 Feet
The user creates a clay model with no true features or characteristics; although the clay mass' details are controlled by the user, they are not typically crafted for aesthetics. Unlike clones, the clay body of the minion is capable of withstanding a moderate amount of abuse. The minion is controlled by a thin clay line that is created simultaneously with the minion itself. Unlike puppetry, no complex finger movements are needed to manipulate it, but also unlike puppetry, the line can be easily cut, rendering it useless. Additionally, at any given moment, the user can command the clay minion to detonate, forming a rather decent blast.

• Bakuton: Tekidan Sanjaku [Explosive Release: Grenade Belt]
Range: 3 Foot Length Whip
Explosion Range: Explode around target once contact is made and successfully wraps around target
The user creates a three foot length whip of clay with one easily gripped end. Although it can be hidden around the battlefield to be used as a sort of landmine, the whip is more commonly tossed at the desired target. If contact is properly made, the whip will wrap around the target and explode a few moments after.

• Bakuton: Rajiusu Bakuha [Explosive Release: Radius Blast]
Range: Long (10 yards)
Explosion Range: 10 yards
The user places their hands flat against the ground, and concentrates the explosive chakra from their hands into the area around them in order to create a perimeter. After a moderate amount of preparation (1 post), the user will release one last push of chakra, causing a radius of ten yards to be engulfed in a powerful blast. Although the perimeter is created to protect the user, because the explosion occurs so close, they will still suffer some damage.

• Bakuton: Baku Haji [Explosive Release: Explosive Grip]
Range: Arms Length
Explosion Range: Must hold target
The user concentrates explosive chakra into one of their hands before attempting to get a hold of their target. Once a firm grip is established, the user releases three sharp explosions at different points on their hand. The differentiation in the explosion locations causes distortion and internal damage beyond the effects of the blasts themselves.

Clay ○ Techniques:

Range: Close (2 Fee) - Long (10 Feet)
Explosion Range: 2 - 10 Feet (Varies on size)
The user feeds a large amount of clay to their molding mouths, and a moderate amount of time (2 posts) after, they regurgitate a massive puddle of gooey clay. With a string of handsigns, the puddle will fold in on itself multiple times until it takes the form of a large animal of the user's desire. More commonly, this technique is used to create great birds to allow easier travel. Unfortunately, this can also be a very careless move, as the clay used to create the animal is explosive. The explosion which they create directly relative to their size. However, the clay beasts can be controlled on their own, and do not necessarily need a rider.

• Bakuton: Hedoro [Explosive Release: Sludge]
Range: Must attach to target
Explosion Range: 2 Feet
The user feeds two lumps of clay to different mouths on their body and begin to form a short string of handsigns, which end on the rat sign. The clay will then seep from the mouths they were placed in, drooling across the ground until it makes contact with its target(s). Upon making contact, the clay will jump up and attempt to engulf the target. When the user releases the rat handsign, the nearly liquid clay will explode.

• Bakuton: Kibaku Jirai [Explosive Release: Exploding Landmine]
Range: Close (3 Feet)
Explosion Range: 3 Feet
The user feeds a small amount of clay into one of their mouths and a few moments later it regurgitates a basketball sized circular contact-bomb. Each bomb will detonate when it comes into forceful contact with something. As such, they can either be tossed, or hidden underground to truly act as landmines. The explosions of these bombs aren't incredibly wide, rather are more focused and deadly at close range.

Range: Makes contact with Target
Explosion Range: 3 Feet
After establishing direct contact with their target through a simple punch, the user manipulates their explosive chakra to instantaneously generate an enormous explosion from the initial point of contact. This blast is powerful enough to completely obliterate an opponent far larger than the user. Due to the directionality of the blast, the user minimizes any potential repercussions, such as being struck by debris and even recoil appears to be completely negated.

• Bakuton: Jirai-Kyaku [Explosive Release: Landmine Kick]
Range: Must make contact with Target
Explosion Range: 3 Feet
This technique is similar in method and power to the Landmine Fist. The user makes contact with a simple kick to the target. Once that contact is made, the user will manipulate their explosive chakra to release a powerful forward blast.

• Bakuton: Hitoshirezu Arashi [Explosion Release: Hidden Storm Technique]
Range: Close (2 yards) - Large (10 yards)
Explosion Range: 2 - 10 yard
The user slams both palms against the ground in front of him or her, sending explosive chakra beneath the surface and resulting in an underground explosion that, on the surface, throws untold amounts of rock shards and sand into the air to be blown at the opponent with the same power the explosion held. The "storm" of shards and sand has considerable shredding power, tearing at anything in its path.

• Bakuton: Bakuhatsu Danmaku [Explosion Release: Explosion Barrage]
Range: Close (3 Feet) - Long (15 Feet)
Explosion Range: 3 - 15 Feet
This technique causes approximately fifteen stones the size of baseballs to rise up into the air in front of the user. The user then delivers an assault of punches, one to each individual stone. The punches infuse the stones with explosive chakra and simultaneously send them flying in the direction of the punch, making each into a live bomb that explodes up contact with a solid.

Range: Must make contact with Target
Explosion Range: 15 yards (Taking out chuck of forest)
The user feeds a handful of clay to one of their molding mouths, and in a short amount of time (1 post), it will regurgitate a moderately sized clay doll. The user will then toss or drop the clay doll onto their target, which will, while in midair, expand roughly ten times in size. Upon making contact with a surface, the doll will explode, creating a tremendous blast capable of taking huge chunks out of forests.

Range: Must make contact with Target
Explosion Range: 4 Feet
The user charges an extreme amount of explosive chakra into their hands, causing them to radiate with a thick colored aura. While active, each strike and poke from the user causes a spot of the user's chakra to develop on the contacted area. The stronger and wider the strike, the deeper the color and wider the mark. Because the marks are created even on blocked strikes, this technique is extremely difficult for slower opponents to deal with. When the duration of this technique ends, the marks on the afflicted areas will glow bright. A short time ( 1 post ) after this, the marks will flare even brighter, until bursting into terrific explosions whose blast power is a direct reflection of the thickness of their color. Duration: 3 posts.

Clay ○ Techniques:

• Bakuton: C4 [Explosive Release: C4]
Range: Close (3 Feet) - Long (20 Feet) - Must be inhaled by Target
Explosion Range: 3 Feet
The user creates a massive clone of his/herself which is full of a special mixture of explosive chakra and clay. When the clone punctures, it will release a dim gray cloud of microscopic bombs. If the cloud is taken into the body in any way, the bombs will slowly travel into the victim's body, where they will await their command to detonate. Unlike other techniques, this one is performed by the user consuming clay with their own mouth.

• Bakuton: C0 [Explosive Release: C0] - FORBIDDEN
Range: Close (5 Yards) - Long (100 Yards)
Explosion Range: 100 yard
Repercussion: Death
The user feeds all remaining clay he/she possesses to the largest mouth on their body, and thoroughly chews and entrusts it with at least chakra. Rather than the enhanced clay being spat out, it is retained in the body, where it will seep through the veins. The user's very skin will then begin to crack, as if rustling with power. At the user's command, or after an extended period ( 5 posts ), the user him/herself will explode. The blast created from this suicide technique consumes everything within a 100 yard radius.
