Powers and Abilities
- Firbolg Blood: Firbolgs are giantkin, meaning they are generally taller than other creatures; Hostarnias is on the tall end of his race, standing at 8'1". As a firbolg, he can climb walls with ease, move across difficult terrain normally (unless it is a magical terrain), turn invisible, and shift his height (up to 3') and skin tone.
Druidic Abilities: As a druid, Hostarnias has several nature-bound abilities. He also has a natural ability to handle animals more naturally.
Elemental Magic:
Diplomatic Communication: As a diplomat, Hostarnias knows several languages. These languages include Druidic (the language only known by druids), Common, Jotun (the language of giants), Elvish, Sylvan (the language of the fae), Fauna (the languag of animals), Flora (the language of plants), and Dwarvish.
Wild Shape: Hostarnias can turn into any animal or creature he has ever seen for a total of five hours.
Animal Companion: When a druid calls upon the aid and companionship of one of nature’s children, they forge a sacred pact to care for and cherish that creature. In exchange, the animal companion serves as a guide and guardian. Hostarnias has been able to master companionship with a Megaloceros with the Elvish name Imryll.
Items
- Enchanted Quarterstaff: A quarterstaff made with a firbolg-cultured design enchanted with the ability to turn into a flaming scimitar.
Elvish Magical Armor: Armor in the disguise of normal traditional Elvish attire. It has been magically imbued to prevent elemental, piercing, or bludgeoning damage of magical or non-magical means.
Wooden Shield: A simple wooden shield with no magical properties.
Pan Flute: A flute fit specifically for the size of a firbolg.
The History
- Most giantkin follow The Ordning, a social order and hierarchy among giants based on superiority. Titans are the highest in the ordning, followed by storm giants, cloud giants, fog giants, fire giants, frost giants, stone giants, mountain giants, hill giants, ettins, giant-kin and lastly ogres. Among those in the giant-kin are the firbolgs, the only giant race to refuse to partake in the ordning, preferring free-will and community over a hierarchy.
