Jacepi stopped walking to stare. He wasn't shre how to react. We're his ears playing tricks on him? "You won't?" He asked. But... They always fought. About her leaving him, about her keeping Jarah, about her not encouraging Jarah enough to become a Harper...

When he stopped she turned to look at him, hating that she had done this to them. "No, I won't," she said quietly. She was tired of fighting, tired of being alone. Tired of being without the man she'd been in love with for over half her life.
She couldn't stop them anymore. Tears started to slip down her face. "I don't want to fight anymore. I miss you, Jace," she breathed before her throat stopped her words.

Missed him?! But... Jacepi gaped at her for a long moment before he closed the gap between them. "I miss you too," he admitted. He always had. He took her hand in his. "I've always loved you, Vannie," he said, softly.

Now it was her turn to stare. "You have?" She was bewildered by this. "Even after....everything?" After leaving him? After all the fighting, everything she'd said. She couldn't believe it. She sniffled and opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. Clearing her throat, she tried again. "I've always loved you too," she whispered.

Jacepi gave a sad sort of smile. "Even after everything," he said. "I waited." He'd waited a long time. And then he'd tried to forget her with Jacel's mother... That hadn't worked out.
He leaned closer and kissed her cheek.

"Jace," she sighed before wrapping her arms around his neck and holding him close. "I'm so sorry for everything..." She had missed this so very much, this kind of closeness she'd only ever felt with him.

She snorted lightly at his words and shook her head. "Don't sugarcoat it for me... I hurt you, and I'm sorry for that. For everything we fought about since then. I'm sorry I was stubborn, and stupid. You deserve so much better." She kissed his cheek and hugged him again. "I'm sorry it took me so sharding long..."

Jace shook his head and put his hand to her cheek. "I hurt you, too," he said. "All those words... I never meant them. I'm sorry, Vannie." He kissed her cheek. "Don't worry about it, love."
