► This is a Discord RP Log of the pets belonging to Shi Berry & Marzipanz. ◄Being small certainly had its benefits. She traversed these rocky mountains with ease compared to other, bigger, clumsier wolves who were accustomed to the even ground of the forest floor and the softness of the plush grass in the meadows. Often, she would be chased after a theft and she frequently fled to the mountains where she could easily lose her pursuers.
This is the exact scenario that drove her here today. There was a faint jingling of metal coming from her scarf that served as a pouch with how tightly it was tied around her neck as the necklace she had stolen from one wolf hit the brooch she had stolen from another. The brooch owner was livid, as she had ripped it from his fur while he was enchanted with her touch. She smirked. Males were so easy to play. It only took some flattering words and a nuzzle into his neck for her to completely own him, and, with a gentle rub of the top of her head under his chin, her muzzle came close enough to the brooch nestled by his ear. It only took one bite and one good yank after that to separate her prize from its owner. It must have hurt, too. The fool did not know how to wear a brooch – but how could a wolf know unless told, really – and had fastened it to his skin like a piercing. She did not think he was that stupid and believed the brooch to be somehow twined with his fur until she heard his sharp yelp and smelled the blood. She did not have time to apologize, however, and darted out into the night. For a while she heard him behind her, snarling curses as he chased her. He surprised her, for he chased her for a long time. He even chased her into the mountains, but struggled to find his footing on the path that she chose to take. His pace slowed considerably, and his curses softened till she heard nothing at all.
An hour or two after the sounds had stopped, Seika decided that it was safe to stop as well. She carefully observed the area behind her just to be sure that male had not found a way to silence his steps. Sure enough, there was no sign of him to be found. She smirked, satisfied with her success. "Another day, another treasure," she laughed, turning around and ambling away towards her home. She was still a considerable distance away from her stash, but that did not matter to her. She was not carrying anything heavy nor was she carrying too much. It was August, too, so winter was only two short months away. In winter, it was infinitely times harder to pass through these mountains, even for her, so she had to enjoy this convenient passage while she had it.
Aside from the escape route they granted her, she thought these mountains were beautiful. They were both visually stunning and silent. Seika rarely ran into another wolf here. In fact, she could not remember if she had encountered another wolf himself, but there was this smell that lingered as she came to the valley's border, this smell of other wolves. She had never seen them, but she knew they were there. However, it was not just wolves that she smelled; the faint scent of blood was evident as well. It did not bother her, really, for she had passed this way many times and never had an issue.
As she pondered the subject, she realized that she never actually went into the valley. She did not know if it was a wise idea to do so since the mix of wolves and blood could not be a good sign, but she was sneaky enough to go unnoticed. This logic is what led her to deviate from her path and go into the valley. She decided that she would only scope out the valley and its inhabitants, mostly to see if there was anything worth stealing. If there was the scent of blood, that must mean prey is plentiful, prey that lost to the jaws of the predators. Prey that she could steal.
That being said, she suddenly realized why she had never before come into the valley on her own without intending to do so. The valley was rather inaccessible. She scanned the mountain side, brows furrowing. "My my... that looks dangerous," she mused, her tail swaying behind her as she thought. It was almost a straight drop down. The ground looked slick and deep cuts were carved into its side, possibly due to snowmelt. No wonder no one ever came this way. Even if she were to go down this way, there would be no way back up.
Seika was stubborn, however, and walked along the side till she found something that seemed like a suitable path into the valley. It was a sharp, narrow path that would not have been an easy descent for any normal wolf, but she was more of a large coyote than she was a wolf. So she descended with difficulty, but she did descend. All seemed to be going smoothly till, at the end of the path, the rocks gave way beneath her and she slid to the base of the mountain. She was not too hurt by the incident, but there was a noticeably deep cut in her lower foreleg.
Seika frowned, sitting down and licking her injury. Surely the smell of her blood and both the sight and sound of the rock slide had betrayed her secrecy. She had to go out the way she came quickly, lest she be found by one of these wolves, but not till after she had tended to this wound. "So much for being sneaky..."

Just another day of patrolling the valley. Strychnos' life seemed compiled purely of these recently. When he wasn't on the front line of a raid he was used as the pack's pawn to defend it's territory and keep out unwanted guests. However, as the dire made his rounds on this bright summer afternoon he had been lured off coarse by something that sounded a bit more clumsy than any rustling wildlife he had come in contact with before. The sound of rocks shuffling down an elevated cliff came assaulting 'Nos' ears. Immediately, the great dire snapped his attention towards the rock slide and saw that it was no mere coincidence. Down with the rubble came a tiny creature. A fox? No, it seemed a little too large to be your run of the mill fox. Was this- a she wolf? No, not just a wolf. An intruder. Immediately the hair along Strychnos' spine stood on end, making his lips curl into a defensive snarl. He rushed the other, heavy paws pounding the soil below. He was ready to snap down on whatever bit he could fit his jaws around when he came to see that she was so small. Her life would have ended with just one bite. It conflicted him to think something as powerful as himself would not even give her a chance at survival. "Are you daft?! What business do you have wandering into a territory that is not yours? Speak now, trespasser!"

She thought she would have more time to make her escape before someone found her. It was her mistake for assuming, as well as lingering for more than a few minutes after such a noisy entrance. She had smelled the other dire early on, but his arrival was surprisingly swift and aggressive. Surely she should have expected such a greeting in a valley as ominous as this, but she had no intention of dying today. Though she was injured, she was not incapacitated. She inhaled sharply, leaping off the ground in the blink of an eye. She had put a safe distance between her and the male in only a moment's time, adrenaline killing any pain she felt that would otherwise have hindered her movements. Her hackles were also erect and alarmed, and her stance was defensive with her eyes narrowed and head low. Even so, she did not snarl. She was not one for snarling and looking so unbecoming. "Is this how you greet every traveler?" she retorted. "I fall down a mountainside and can't climb out, and, instead of giving me the chance to do so you threaten my life?" These were lies, but she had to give him a plausible reason for such an intrusion.

How dare she throw an insult in his direction? Perhaps it was not a direct slap to the face but surely an uncalled one. Especially for one who was in her current position. That tumble down the mountain must have knocked her brain loose or something for right now her actions made little sense to the thickly built male interrogating her. "It is how I greet intruders. Travelers would be far more weary of their footing on unstable ground and not come tumbling down the mountain side with as little grace as you." He tried calling her bluff in hopes that she might crack and give her true intentions. Was she a spy? Maybe an angered relative of a fallen pack he had taken a part in slaughtering? He couldn't be cautious enough when dealing with strangers. "You had your chance to do so and you clearly failed miserably," he pointed out before jerking his head in gesture to her battered limbs.Word Count: 162

As he spoke, she calmed. It did not seem like he had any intention of killing her outright. She was an intruder and he had both right and reason to defend his territory, especially from those of her ilk. Now, however, she was not so concerned with finding anything worth theft so much as getting out of this place without any more injury. So, with a heavy sigh, she sat down, a rather bold action for one in her position. "It's not exactly easy getting away quickly with such a deep gash in my leg," she stated, her voice quieter. She turned her attention to her wound, which had bled considerably. It needed tending, but she did not know if this dire would be willing to assist her. "I have no desire to intrude your territory, nor was it my intention when I wound up here," she began, returning her gaze to the male. "I was chased into the mountains by another and lost my footing on those slippery slopes bordering this valley. I got out of one bad situation and only to find myself in another." That statement remained true, though she had evaded her former pursuer long ago – and this male certainly did not need to privy to that information. "And now, I'm injured, on top of it all... What do you suggest I do?"

The she-wolf seemed to drop her guard. A foolish thing to do when under threat. Perhaps that crimson life draining from her leg was taking it's toll on her judgement. The male towered over the wounded dire as he approached. It had been obvious that she wanted to keep distance between them prior to their first few words, but now? It seemed like she was hardly concerned by his threatening appearance. Strychnos turned his inquisitive blue eyes to the mountain tops, wondering just how foolish a wolf had to of been in order to walk that fragile line. A wolf on the run. On the run from what exactly? A new question began to sprout in the bulky dire's mind as he fixed his eyes sharply on his wounded prisoner. Yes, he had no intentions of letting her hobble her way out of this predicament. "Sounds to me like you're a less than desirable dame. Perhaps a pest of some sort that needed chasing off? What exactly were you running from that caused you to turn to desperation? Only the desperate would dare climb so high on terrain they weren't familiar with. Terrain that could very well end your life. You're lucky you slipped down a slope and not off a cliff. You could have very well gone splat and ended up a meal for the buzzards, girl." She seemed like a girl with just how small she was. However, no young dumb girl would be so wise with words, right? Strychnos had to admit she was rather cunning. "I suggest that you drag your battered body back up that mountain and keep trying to flee. If the drop doesn't kill you then whoever makes the next patrol surely will." He didn't notice it in the moment but he seemed to be sparing her life. Something that would be highly frowned upon by his pack peers. When had he ever cared about their opinions, though?Word Count: 325

Her eyes followed his icy gaze. He was rough and uncouth, but not inherently malicious. He would have killed her already if that was the case, not that she did not have a fighting chance in outrunning him if it came down to that. She would prefer to keep her weight off her leg, at least for the time being. He questioned her, again, rightfully so. She supposed that he earned some answers for having the decency to ask questions first rather than later. She owed him that much. "Being 'less than desirable' would have kept me out of this mess in the first place," she grumbled. She locked her gaze with his, as if searching for some answers herself. "You're a male – tall, strong, and likely domineering, at least a little. Has a female ever told you, 'No?'" She looked away then, out towards the mountains from where she fell. She studied the rocks that barred the path she had intended to take to get away from this place. "Am I wrong to say, 'No?' I'm not so weak as to subject myself to the will of any male, and being 'less than desirable' would have done me more good than harm. It's done me a great deal of harm, in fact." Again, she looked down at her leg, blood continuing to seep out of the open wound. "I can't go back that way; you know that, too. Even if my leg was fit for climbing, that way out of the valley was lost the second I fell with the rocks." Once more, she found his gaze, her eyes almost sad. "What do I do? I don't deserve to die here... Why are you sparing my life, anyway, if only to leave me at the mercy of some other wolf?"

Hey eyes held a sense of pride as she explain everything Strychnos wished to understand. Had he known that unwanted advancements were the case he never would have brought himself to ask. A woman had never told him no simply because he had never asked. Being tall and fortunately still ruggedly handsome despite his battle scars did nothing for him in regards to the dating scene. That didn’t exist in this pack of his. There was no love- no romance. Just the attempts of crafting better workers and warriors in hopes of being a stronger pack. The stronger they were the more the world around them suffered it seemed. In a way Strychnos was starting to see that they were the sickness that plagued this valley. Not some poor she-wolf who was simply trying to avoid a male who didn't have the brains to understand a simple word like no. The Dire kept meeting her gaze, trying to read into her stares and determine what was true and false. He knew little of the world outside his pack but he did understand that it vastly different from his own upbringing. “If he was strong enough to take you perhaps you should have felt fortunate to bare his children.” That was all mates were good for, right? The potential to make more pups? When his eyes were drawn into the blood stained grass beneath her leg he gave little reaction. Maybe the twitch of an ear could be seen as his stomach turned. That much blood loss was starting to look dangerous. Without a word he turned from the wounded dire in search for something that might ease her suffering. He was no witch doctor and had limited resources but his beloved sister had taught him a thing or two about nursing his own battle wounds after long days of pillaging. Just as he was about to give up hope and return to Seika’s side to make sure she didn't hobble off he found what he had been seeking. A bushel of something bitter. Something he took into his maw and crushed with his teeth to release the soothing properties it had. He returned, meeting her eyes briefly as to give a moment's notice before laying beside her. All he needed was to be level with her so that he might press the mushed up plant matter into her gash. Once aligned he placed a heavy paw over his concoction to embed it deeper. Sure, ‘Nos didn't use a light touch but for a warhound such as himself he was never taught how to be gentle. “For now you will rest. When you feel you’re able to get up, which I suggest you do very soon, you will find yourself a path out of this valley. You will keep traveling far away from this place and never return, is that understood?” He dared not look the she-wolf in the eyes for when it came to them he was on occasion too intense for his own good. His harsh words were probably enough. Then again, this was a girl who thought she could tell a male no. Who knows what else she felt entitled to?

She raised an eyebrow at the male's comment and stifled a half-hearted laugh. "Sure, strength in a mate is important, but so is kindness. Children should be made from mutual desire, not from one's will forced upon another. With all the other struggles in this world, don't you think a family should be held together by love, too, as opposed to just raw strength alone? After all, strength is not all it takes to survive... in fact, sometimes it's not necessary at all."
He left then, hastily and silently. Her ears drooped. She hoped he did not truly intend to leave her here or, worse yet, inform these other, likely more vicious wolves of her whereabouts. She felt her heartbeat quicken and her hackles rise. She was telling the truth; she did not want to die here. Perhaps she was wrong to ask him why he was sparing her life and he reconsidered. Anxiety bubbled in her throat, but she did not smell anyone other than the bronze male nearby. Then again, her scents were dulled due to her blood loss and the smell of her blood pervading her nostrils... and something bitter?
Confusion warped her expression, but she dismissed the thought when the male returned – alone. A wave of relief washed over her, and the tension drained from muscles. Much to her delight, and her surprise, he also brought herbs to ease her pain and coagulate the blood so it stopped flowing freely. She winced as he applied the paste, his touch rough, though it was what she expected. It was kind of him to assist her, for he certainly could have killed her or left her for worse. She had not expected such kindness. "Thank you," she finally said, eyes searching for his, but he seemed to be avoiding her gaze. "This is awfully kind of you, given my rude intrusion... I'm sorry." Seika usually was not one for such clearly kind words, but she knew when she was in debt and was well-mannered enough to know when to vocalize both appreciation and apology when appropriate.
She listened to his instructions, his words filling her with a sense of foreboding. While she could not make eye contact with him, she studied the scars along his form as if it was a written history that could be easily repeated if she did not learn from it. She bit her lip, growing apprehensive once again. Just where, exactly, did she stumble?
This was a mistake.
"Okay," she began, her voice quieter but not choked. Though she was afraid, she was not frozen with fear. She would have felt better if her movement was not hindered, however. Her assets of speed and nimbleness had been robbed from her by this one injury which was, unfortunately, more severe than she originally believed. She had no way to defend herself should events take a turn for the worst.
"Could you stay with me?" she asked, her voice genuine and soft. "I know I'm asking a lot, and you've already done so much for me... it's just, I'm terrified of this place, and, though I'm very quick on my feet and can outrun most, I can't do that while injured like this." She looked down at the ground. She had never been in a situation like this, and she had taken all her good fortune up until this point for granted. "I'm scared."
