『 BIOGRAPHY 』
Elijah grew up in a relatively well placed family. His mother was an agent from Scotland based hero marketing agency and his father was an upcoming hero in America. His mother's power was a scientific curiosity in that she could manipulate negative energy but the largest extent she was ever able to use of her power was able to create small sparks out of her hands. Elijah's father on the other hand had the ability to teleport. Due to pressing concerns over retaliation due to his father's antics, once the affair led to a pregnancy his mother (Annella) went back to Scotland during the pregnancy. Nicholas, Elijah's father, visited her and they were shortly married. They kept the child a secret for a few years as the mother continued to live and work in Scotland while his father formally joined with the US government.
It wasn't until Elijah was eight years old that his mother moved over to America and his parents continued to keep their marriage and relationship a well guarded secret. He attended private schools under his mother's maiden name Campbell. As his powers grew and he needed to have a mentor during the program at his school, his father finally stepped up and publicly claimed him as his son. While he trained with and under his father, Elijah garnered a lot of attention from the American government. His power begged for a lot of interesting research to be done around it and given his father's predilections, he allowed that to happen. It was through these tests and experiments that lead to him actually going up in a rocket to the orbiting space station so they could test the outer limits. The event went horribly wrong; somehow someone with a villainous intent had made it into the program as well. They planned to bring the whole surveillance system down from the inside. His father Nicholas was mortally wounded in the fight to keep the space station functional. And in a moment of desperation, Elijah had created a portal into space that sucked the villain in. He was able to close it up before too much damage had been done.
Once he was on the ground, NASA had pretty much taken over his life for a month as they grilled and trained him on what he could and could not say to the public. It was in this that Elijah finally found something that he felt comfortable doing. He was decent at being a hero, good at jumping through all the hoops they wanted to throw at him, but he was excellent at handling the media side of things. He made sure that all the credit went to his father instead of him for keeping the space station up in orbit - his father had died a hero's death after all. His mother took the blow hard and wasted away but he even managed to make it seem like a romantic death as she soon followed him to the grave. All the while he continued to train with and without the military, earning his licence to be a practicing hero in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
He worked for a decade as a hero, doing very well for himself because he knew how to handle his image and maintain it despite the odds. As the years went on he found that he participated in more demonstrations and seminars than actual unplanned fights or impromptu damage control. Within a few more years as he continued to earn a living, Elijah also earned some basic teaching credentials. His first job was with a small university in the United States. A few of his classes were audited by international upcoming heroes. Word of his work in media relations and public image spread and he gained a reputation for himself as being very thorough. Within three years of teaching he was offered a part time position at another university - this time in Glasgow, Scotland.
Elijah taught at that university for a handful of years, regaining the accent of his childhood, until he was wooed by the prospect of a full time, hands on and very active job at Fairborough University in New York, USA. It has been two years since then and he's only thought of new and interesting ways to help shape the image of future generations of heroes as time goes on.
The power to create portals for transport between two non-adjacent locations.
『 TECHNIQUES 』
Plucking___
Elijah can create fist sized portals to anywhere that he's seen or been to. He can then reach into the portal and pull back an object without disturbing his physiology or anything else in either place unless he physically acts upon it.
Transportation___
He has the ability to create portals roughly the size of a circular door frame, allowing him to move from one area to another even if they're across the world from each other in the blink of an eye.
Looping___
This hero can connect two one sided portals together in order to pass an object back and forth between it. by placing them vertically away from each other, he can use gravity to accelerate an object as it goes back and forth between the connected portals. Thus if he dropped a rock in one it could come out of the sky, drop back from the sky again and again until the momentum behind the solid object becomes equivalent to someone jumping out of an airplane without a parachute.
Connected___
His primary (the first portal he creates) connects to the secondary (second portal created). He can make this connection twice at one time. He can also connect all four portals together, or just connect three of them. This connection helps when looping an object to turn the accelerated object into a projectile.
The Pull___
He can add a suction quality to the portal which does not affect him. This suction can be used to pull an object up to two times his weight into the portal if it is not secured down. This is done by growing and shrinking the portal over and over again until it creates it's own suction.
Vortex___
Arguably, this is his most dangerous technique and thus not one he uses for very long or very often. With great strain, Elijah can open up a secured portal to dangerous places such as an active volcano, under a large body of water, or even space. These dangerous portals remain small until the moment when he starts to force something through them. It is dangerous to the area he's in as the portal is one way so if he opens it to space, ambient atmosphere is lost from the planet and it creates a suction that even he can't overcome if placed in front of the portal.
『 WEAKNESSES 』
Physically___
He is just as physically weak as any other human who doesn't have body blustering abilities.
Portal Placement___
He can only place the first portal anywhere he has touched with his body. For portals placed in mid air, he has to have at least waved. The secondary (exiting) portal has to have been in a place he has either been or seen. The less he knows the area, the more dangerous it is to place a secondary portal there as there could be issues like walking out into traffic. The placement of the secondary portal is less accurate unless he can physically see where to place it at the time that it's created.
Size___
The max size that his portal can be is eight feet by eight feet. This means he can't transport objects that are much bigger than he himself is.
Portal Amount___
The first portal is known as the 'primary' and the other portal which is often viewed as an exit is known as the 'secondary' portal. He can only maintain two sets of portals at any given time, depending on the size and distance of space he is connecting.
Time Limit___
Elijah can keep small portals open longer than max sized ones. The small ones he can keep open for a few minutes at a time but the larger they get the quicker they become unsustainable. At the max size, he can only sustain the portal for fifteen seconds before he's unable to maintain a safe connection.
Sustainability Issues___
If Elijah attempts to keep the portals open for longer than he can sustain, the connection from point A to B becomes weak. The longer he pushes it the more dangerous it becomes. A person or object may end up at any space between the portals, even falling from dangerous heights. Another issue could be splintering. If he closes a portal at the wrong time or pushes the time limit and amount too far there may be issues with objects not emerging from the portal in one piece.
Distance___
The farther away two points are front one another, the harder it is to maintain. His current max is 100 miles at any one time for full body sized portals, the distance increases the smaller the connection point.
Closing a portal___
He has to consciously close a portal or it continues to be a drain on his energy levels.
Time Delay___
There is a ten second delay between when he closes one secondary or primary portal and can open another set up.
Exhaustion___
Larger portals also take more energy to sustain but he can still be exhausted by creating too many small portals throughout the day. If he tries to hold a portal up for longer than he can generally sustain he weakens quickly. The loss of his hearing is the first sign, then weakness of body, by the time he starts to loose his vision he's on the verge of passing out. If he hasn't closed the portal by that point he can continue to drain his energy until he eventually kills himself from exhaustion.
