The gruesome discovery of a wolf she held near to heart had been it. The lands she'd called home were behind her, but not far enough for her to feel comfortable yet. Still she needed to rest.
The she-wolf had been steadily putting space between herself and the incident which landed her along Slypstream. The stream was lively and lightened her mood a touch. It's bubbly way of rolling along its path almost made Kleitos smile, but she couldn't pull up the corners of her lips. Sad eyes peered eagerly at the water and soon she was right at it's edge. Though she was alone in territory she wasn't familiar with the wolf dropped her head and she dared to steal a drink. Exhaustion was beginning to grab at her and she knew she'd need to find somewhere safe, soon.
With needing a place to sleep off some of her weariness she lifted her gaze from the waters and stole a glance around her.
Kleitos was very aware of her surroundings. The waters edge was recently travelled, but by whom she wasn't sure she wanted to know. Being a water source the stream would likely be commonly visited. The truth nagged her. It was very likely she wasn't alone.Yushika Crap start, but still a start. lol

Seraphim was another wolf who had seen tragedy, and recently, however her body held light and her eyes sparkled with an intensity unlike the wolf she'd soon meet. Seraphim wasn't unaffected, no, but she wasn't lost in her despair, instead focusing on what she could have over what she couldn't. That didn't mean she didn't mourn, which was evident currently. The wolf sat before an empty patch, ears pulled back. While the grave had long ago returned to its natural color, she still knew exactly where she buried her mother. She'd never forget.
Giving a soft, pitiful whine, Seraphim pushed herself up. "Bye, Mama." She murmured before canting her head to the side. Water; she needed water. Shaking off the consuming sadness, Seraphim picked herself up, ears flicking upward and tail pointing towards the sky as she broke into a light trot towards the river. It was a quick jog which ended with a brief skid once her eyes laid upon the form of another wolf. Someone new. Someone foreign.
Caution hadn't left her, body tightening as she lowered her head to view the other clearer. They looked tired - exhausted, even. She doubted they were much of a threat, although that was always her natural assumption. Lifting her head, she gave a friendly wag of her tail before, with a second of hesitance, she took a few steps closer.
"Hello?" Her mouth pulled slightly into a smile, one paw lifting off the ground. "Are you okay?" She chanced. If the wolf whirled on her she was ready to run, joints taunt as she waited.

The truth hadn't failed her. Soft grasses prevented her from hearing the light trot, but the voice was a dead giveaway. Kleitos felt the pull of her ears as she listened in the direction of the voice prior to committing to turning her entire body towards the individual. Self-preservation had her quickly changing to gaze at her company.
The first and likely most captivating thing of her company was the smile that tugged at her lips. Kleitos gave another attempt at some of a smile, but she simply couldn't manage. Had she been alone and thinking on her circumstances she'd have let out a small whine, but in the company of this stranger she held silent for a brief time before speaking up.
"Hello." Her tone was perky with sorrowful undertones. Clearly she was covering for her true emotions, but a stranger was a stranger. Kleitos knew well enough to hide some of her weaker emotions. "I'll be fine." The hesitant pause between statements stole away her attempt to cover the truth. "Yourself?" Opting to pull the attention from herself she bounced a question right back. All the while her tail was parallel to the ground, a simple sign pointing towards mild interest in her company, but lacking a certain trust.

She couldn't help flicking her ears up at the greeting, her smile widening in response. Non-hostile, good! Her tail gave a short, telling wag as her paw slowly greeted the ground, tension fading from her body. Too quick to trust, something Seraphim had heard numerous times and yet choose to willfully ignore. Whoever this wolf was, they were no thread, either due to how tired they were or that small tremor of sorrow she had heard underneath that greeting. Whatever it may be, this new wolf poised no threat, and Seraphim offered one in return.
"I'm alright, thank you." She answered honestly, settling into a relaxed sit. "What brings you here?" She returned the direction of their attention to the other wolf, though not out of malice. She suspected that, perhaps, she had help she could offer this new and quiet wolf - she just needed to figure out what that help could be.

Amazed at how quickly the other wolf relaxed Kleitos found herself relaxing in turn. The tail, once parallel to the ground, was now up a bit higher and gave a weak wag. Her mild interest had begun to turn to excitement - perhaps she had just been on the trails to long. The need for companionship was entirely too strong and she was aware of it - mildly. Still the she-wolf found herself remaining a little tense, especially as the questions reverted back to her.
"Water, and I'm looking for shelter." There. Kleitos gave herself a mental pat on the back at contributing some honesty to the conversation. Still the memories of her fallen loved one struck her and she began to appear visibly shaken. The body of her former mate had been buried ceremoniously and she'd treasure that closure, but simply couldn't bear to see the pack mate again. "The stream offered water." She mused lightly. "I'm just at a loss for where I might find shelter."
Kleitos hid the pride she felt in dragging herself free from the sadness that seemed to dramatically coat her heart for this small conversation.

Seraphim couldn't shake the nagging feeling that today it was important to listen. Usually, she'd be chattering a mile a minute, but something about this current situation urged her to hold her tongue. Her tail wagged faintly, a gentle reassurance as the other wolf opened up about their intentions. Water was found, that was clear, but...
Wait a minute, she had shelter! Sure, it was a singular den, but it was a fairly warm and roomy one. It had to be to have housed her massive father and average sized mother as well as her at the same time. Sleeping alone these days was rough, something she wasn't used despite the changing months since losing her parents. She wouldn't mind the extra company until the other felt the need to carry on.
"I have a den?" She blurted, ears flicking back in mild embarrassment at her excitement. "I mean — it's rather large, and has room for two, if you don't mind sharing? It's something for the night, or longer, if you need a rest." She paused, giving a quiet smile. This was weird, right? It wasn't like she couldn't offer, though... it'd eat away at her for the rest of her life if she just turned her back on the other she-wolf.

Silence fell between them, but not for long. Kleitos grew lost in her thoughts during that silence and let her natural reaction surface. A mixture of emotions set a look of pleasant surprise on her maw. Denying shelter would be foolish, so whether she liked it or not this was as good as things might get. "I'd be foolish to say no." Her admittance helped to change her outlook on life, things were looking up. "So long as you don't mind the company, I might take up the offer of a couple of days at least?"
Her ears flicked back as she awaited a response from the she-wolf. Kindness only stretched so far.Yushika If you're still interested. <3

Seraphim giggled softly, head shaking. Foolish? Absolutely not. It'd be a cautious move, perhaps ending negatively for the other she-wolf, but not foolish. It'd make sense for someone to decline her offer; it was a bold one. If Seraphim wanted, she could severely hurt this poor wolf in the dead of night. Still, she was more then happy when the wolf accepted her offer, her ears flicking up and a paw raising to freeze in the air.
"Wonderful! It'd be nice to have the company," She admitted, nodding her head back towards the direction of her den. "Would you like to follow me back now or do you need to do something real quick?"
