❉xxEntering a place of solace. A place where he could calm down, the ruler's head lost in a frenzy. Launching his hands to his desk nearly gasping for air, catching a calm breath of air, only to gradually recuperate. Looking out to the windows to see the damage he's caused forced him to sit in his seat and lunge his head to his palms, shivering from what was said and everything that had occurred.
❉xxFlashes of her came all the way to the cover sheet over what was left of her. The King shook in sadness before relaxing his nerves finally, but still kept of the sadness that was bestowed upon him by his friend, his brother. He didn't understand why he would bring this upon him to speak about him in such a way. Sadness, confusion, anger. His power regained its composure when faded away from the land, bringing nothing but the moon and beautiful stars to shine down on the region. Xenon solely sat back in his chair just in thoughts of what he had said...especially about his own wife, being another one of them. Xenon still in doubts.

❖❖Chills. Every time the soldier received the summoning from their commander-in-chief, the CEO of the entire Divine Zaibatsu and ruler of the Usken region, shivers crept up his spine. Despite having been in this position countless times, there was no understating the impressive state of the headquarters Lord Fourth conducted his business within. Powerful armed guards surrounded the perimeters and the overall security would've made even a veteran thief steer clear away from this area. Several floors operated underneath Xenon's office, keeping the economy and making the necessary decisions to keep their entire territory functioning without fail. Like cogs in an engine, they all served their own purpose in keeping their home safe. But even as they rode up the elevator towards the final floor, Kouen couldn't help but admire the beautiful view laid out before the pair. A vast majority of the kingdom and the many villages and communities within it were easily visible from this height. The essence of everything the Zaibatsu was and what it strove to expand upon. It was a reminder of what was at stake and their important positions in keeping the citizens living within the borders of their protection underneath unwavering protection.
Allowing his gaze to carefully scan the land beneath them, Kouen briefly pondered. If the future conflict were to be an inevitability, would those innocent civilians truly be forced to suffer through the terrifying reality that war induced? The thought of the countless citizens who only sought to live happily and peacefully being ripped from their homes and quarantined for their own protection was a disturbing one. Who was the enemy? While the logical answer should've been the vile, sinister king of Noskium, something inside the phoenix told him that the nature of their enemy resided elsewhere from their shadowy borders. Valiara should've been a neutral territory, especially when considering the friendship shared between Eli and Lord Fourth. But with last week's horrific disruption fresh in his memory, Kouen struggled to see things in the same light. What if they weren't ready? What if the fatal blow dealt to the Zaibatsu's defenses would come from a place they could've never expected? Shaking his head lightly in frustration, the Adonis faced the door while adjusting his white vest. Focus on the things you can handle, Kouen. Worry about the rest when it comes, he reprimanded himself.
When the doors smoothly slid open, the main office of the Zaibatsu Headquarters stood right in front of the pair. Two guards, one standing on each side of the door, awaited them. They were dressed in sharp business suits, dark shades obscuring their eyes and making it impossible to discern their thoughts. Walking forward, the Adonis knew that both of them would need to present their IDs. It didn't matter how many times they'd ventured up this path for more serious missions or for debriefings concerning their next massive sting operation, they all went through this process. The workers took their jobs incredibly seriously and as such, wouldn't tolerate any breach of protocol - especially when it concerned their boss.
'What's your business here,' one asked. 'Have you two arrived upon being summoned by Lord Mirai?'❖❖
❖❖"Yes. It involves an assignment that he requested we handle before the situation grows to be problematic. Lord Etsuyo sought us out to deliver the news. Here're the IDs."❖❖
❖❖After a few long seconds of silence, the guard gave a short nod before handing the pair their identifications. 'Very well. Go on and head inside,' he replied. After giving a quick thanks, Kouen finally pushed open the final door in order to reveal the main business room of their leader. Stepping towards the middle, following procedure of addressing their commander, Kouen knelt onto one knee. His right arm propped firmly against his knee, his fingers clenched into a fist. Keeping his head bowed, the phoenix noted Derek most likely doing the same. They would have to remain in such a position until given permission to be at ease or otherwise. ❖❖
❖❖"It's an honor, Lord Fourth. We heard your summoning and arrived as soon as we were able. We're ready to hear the debriefing of our mission."❖❖

The only normal thing about being summoned by the King is when there's a mission that needs to be accomplished. Even then, reaching him is nothing short of such overwhelming atmosphere. Slightly in fear, but mostly in the form of respect. The funny thing about this was the fact that they were just there about a week ago. The change in pressure was damn near immediately recognizable. Going through its many levels just to reach the office was quite the sight. Every floor itself had a purpose; to a regular mortal. Landing even a job inside the palace was 'a way of successful living.' To warriors, it could be anything. Literally anything.
Upon reaching the level of the King's office, the two soldiers came across a whole area full of guards. Two in particular in suits put their advances to a halt where Kouen immediately responded with being summoned upon an assignment. Not much left to say there really. The doors opened to the office room of their ruler. The commander in chief, at his desk filing out some sort of papers. Derek, following Kouen, stood at the center of the floor, dropping down to a knee. Head bowed, parrael to that of his comrade. The only thing left was to simply await for the instructions that were to come.
❉xxIt could have only been for a few hours since issuing another mission to be handled. Receiving a request from one of his regular clients about an abrupt situation happening, Xenon thought of a couple who he knew would handle the situation efficiently. Plus, it would give them some room to "stretch their legs some." Calling forth of his admins to send out the message.
❉xxAwaiting, Xenon turned out to look at the city he rules. Going through his memories of his younger days, trailing behind the two who blatantly took care of him. Whenever he puts his eyes on the boys, its literally like looking at them two all over again. Even though they were darker times, there were good memories every now and then...
"It's an honor, Lord Fourth. We heard your summoning and arrived as soon as we were able. We're ready to hear the debriefing of our mission."
❉xxSudden lost in thought, Xenon didn't quite notice the two were already here. Seeing them kneel awaiting for the details to be given upon them. Not much time to really waste. "At ease you two. I'll be sending you both on a mission to the Outskirts of the Zaibatsu. Dragur have appeared all across Lakeside and there's been sightings of civilian capturing with no reasoning as to why. Your mission is to put these down these dragurs, rescue the civilians and uncover this mystery. I have no idea how many of them they are so stay alert. There's also sightings of a large troll thats hidden in the area too. So when you get ready, you may depart. Shouldn't really take you more than a week given both your prowess but I'm sure you'll manage. The details are within this scroll you're allowed to take with you." Dropping a sealed scroll on his desk and extending it out, seeing Derek take hold of it and hold it. Leaning back into his chair, thinking about it a bit. "There's a pretty hefty reward if you complete it. If there are no further questions, then that's all I have."
