Lurks found him in the sand without trying at all. The mother-beast had gone back to her rest-- or, at least, she was no longer lingering close to the surface-- and so Lurks flitted through the wreckage, entertained.

Until he tripped.

Over something.

To his joy, a cockroach squirmed out of the sand, racing off towards a dune in the distance.

"Hello," Lurks said, realizing it might be a someone, and kicked it. Hard. "Hello friend!"

It was some sort of shape indeed, maybe another straggler. Roaches were repeatedly escaping and re-entering the pockets of his incredibly dirty coat, and he was holding a rectangular object in one hand and a bright colourful drink in the other.

Lurks hummed to himself. "You do not feel like FEAR," he said, and reached down to grab the drink with bony hands. It didn't matter that he couldn't really drink it, he wanted it. "You feel like white coats and island, even if you have friends!"

Clearly, he meant the roaches. Talk about typical Famine Clan.

That made the stranger look up, startled enough to cause most of the sand that had pillowed him like a massive blanket to cascade all directions along with a small array of roaches. He immediately shook the square thing he was holding of sand as if that was the most important thing there was, not taking his eyes off Lurk the entire time like the latter was some wild animal.

"Uh," said the stranger, "I'm - wait - I'm totally one of you guys yeah. Just like, uh, super disguised and stuff." His fingers moved along the rectangle flat thing as he spoke.
