The sheen from a more than near death experience was on his face, lighting up his eyes like the memory of fireworks in Edo. His black and tanzanite hair had a gloss to it, like he'd just stepped out of a swimming pool and his roots were aggressively fighting gravity for dominance. He'd discarded what was left of his old yukata and replaced it with his favorite, a lotus embroidered spidersilk affair that could have bankrupt a small kingdom.
His skin was mostly alabaster, with a hint of olive from his East Asiatic heritage, but the nearly nonexistent tan from scant hours in the sunlight, as typical of every self respecting Genji, had, in the proper and least flattering lighting, a thin trace of discoloration, where new skin had grown to replace what was lost in a horrific and fatal antimatter explosion. Flickers and sparks snapped and popped in his hair and along the surfaces of his older skin, where residual antiprotons, positrons, and antineutrons suspended in the magnetic field of his static electricity crashed into the air, annihilating in tiny flashes. Most obvious was his hand that had been used, most unsuccessfully to shield his face. Being completely reduced to slag, the entire forearm was now brand new, and the discoloration compared with his other arm looked like a bad Sunday driver in death valley.
In that oddly colored hand, he held a long cocobolo bokuto, high detailed kanji scrawled in nipponese cursive.
He steps forward into the freshly cleaned radioactive free ring, and bows, honoring the ring, then bows in the place he ancipates his opponent to arrive.
"It is an honor to be here."
