As our story stands....
The stage is set and the die is cast. This is a story of a falling star and the sea.
One stormy night a star makes it's way through the sky, quick and desperate. What she is running from is anyone's guess but it's enough to make her brave a storm that most would wait out. She has to be careful, though, even in her blind rush, for the sea is dark below her and one wrong move could send her falling to her death.
Lightning strikes all around her and she manages to just barely avoid getting hit. The action, however, has her shifting into a large gust of wind that takes control of her flight, and smashes her into a large cliff that manages to blend in a little too well. Though her world was dark already, given the lighting of the storm, it goes black as she tumbles into the sea below.
A storm like tonight was a siren's dream. This was the weather for shipwrecks and with shipwrecks came treasure, but as the siren swam against the hard waves that would send weaker ponies smashing against the rocks off the bottom of the cliff the aquatic noticed a bright light shimmering as it fell down towards that very ill fate. Was it treasure glinting in decent from the sharp brilliance of lightening? It was too blurry to tell from under the water's surface. All the siren knew is if they left it for the sea to swallow it would be lost forever.
Curious and with great hast the siren swam towards the water's surface to catch whatever might have been falling their way. Siren breaches the water and looks stage left than right.
Siren: I know I heard something. Perhaps it was just the thunder. [Shrugs and begins to descend back into the water.
Suddenly star is lowered from the rafters, they are unconscious.
Siren seeing this lifts their hands to catch the star.
Star begins to regain consciousness.
Star: You saved me, I would most certainly have drowned unconsciously.
Siren: Oh come on now, stars are immortal. If they weren't the fall would have killed you for sure.
The star begins to look around, looks out into the audience as if breaking the fourth wall.
Star: Where am I? I must get back.
Still facing the audience a sense of urgency washes over the Star's face. "Thank you so much, but I must press on. There's something I have to do." and with that Star desperately flapped their wings in an attempt to take off, but their wings hadn't flapped. Instead and with much pain it twitched far more dramatically than a wing injury would off stage before falling limp at their side. ,
Speaking out of great concern the Siren attempt to voice reason to the clearly distressed star. "You mustn't, you're clearly hurt from your fall and I'm afraid the storm would swallow you whole if you continued on in this way. Please let me take you to the shore," The Siren pointed towards the backdrop of the stage. "surely what you need to do can wait until the storm passes."
"But!" Star protested trying once again to push their wings to flutter only to cry out pained. They weren't going anywhere without assistance no matter how urgent their cause was to have made them race out into the storm as they did in the first place now that they were in this condition. Silently understanding this the Siren motioned their way towards the back of the stage to where the island's shore was suggested to the crowd.
The curtains drew to a close and there was a brief darkness as the stage props were being rearranged. If you listened carefully the crowd could make out the muted scurried footsteps of the stagehands in their work.
The curtain rises and the next scene is set. A lovely little beach admist a rocky outcropping. The only beautiful part to the impending island that seems to be nothing but rocks. Whoever painted them had quite the experience.
The star is laid out on the sand, wing now bandaged and tucked away in a small grotto where the storm is unlikely to cause more trouble. At least for now.
It also allows the siren to come and go as she may please. If she chose to do so.
Thunder crashes overhead and the wind howls. The Star is grateful for this little grotto as.... The siren ask's "What were you doing out in this storm?"
The star looked at the siren " I don't remember. I woke up laying in the grotto."
The siren continues to press for answers. "Come now we were speaking not long ago. You were in a rush..."
Star lifts their body into an upright position on the ground taking a moment to think. "I remember being afraid . . ." ". . . but I can't remember what it was." The star shakes their head in bewilderment. "Are you certain you can't remember a single thing more?" the siren inquires, shifting their weight to offer consoling gesture.
The star shakes their head. "I have something to do. I am not where I should be. You cannot help . . . "
The siren softly sighs in sympathy; "how are you so sure? Won't you let me try?"
"I'm just afraid I can't trust anyone with this, but you did save me from my fall and bandaged me."
"You can trust me." The siren promised. "Do you remember what you need to do?"
"I do and I always did. I'm sorry for lying, it's just so important that I get it there safely."
The siren sighs, lifting a hoof with a beckoning motion. "Come, then. Tell me where we're bound, and I'll try . . ."
"... to help you get there or even help you with your task." The Siren finished. She gave the Star...
. . . a gentle nod. Breathing deeply Star begins to explain. "I'm a Star and I fell from the sky to deliver a special wish."
The siren let out a soft, awed sigh. "A special wish?" They repeated.
"Well a special wish to me. It moved my heart and I fell from the sky to grant it."
The Siren drew curious. "A wish so special to brave a storm? What could move a star's heart so powerfully?"
Star looked away blushing from the Siren's question finding it very difficult to form their words to answer.
The Siren loved did enjoy a story, and the star looked like she had one. "Come, you can tell me."
Star looked down, still blushing, to gather her thoughts on how to tell the story. "Well you see..."
"I heard distant voice wishing for companionship, with only a feeling to guide me to them to grant the wish."
The siren nods. "Where do we need to go, then? Can you feel where they are now?"
The star shook their head. "I can't.... I lost them."
"That feeling that I felt so strongly before has faded. I don't know where to go." Star said gloomily.
The siren nods, determined. "Well, when I've lost something, I spiral. I start with the current, and go in a . . ."
-wide loop around the area, expanding my search until I find it." She glanced outside the cave. "The storm's still-
"... raging on but I don't think the waves are quite as rough. It could be dying down soon." "We should continue waiting out the storm here and when it's calmed down maybe we can walk around the island."
The star nods. "Let us be off, then."
[Exeunt, poking around as if searching for objects.]
As the two leave the stage the the curtain draws and with it the scene changes backgrounds to a sunny. .
...seaside. Waves move low and gentle at the front of the stage, but for the most part, it's a simple beach.
Star walks along the edge of the water. "At least my legs seem to be working."
The siren puts down a pack. "Wings wouldn't do much good with swimming, anyways. They'll help you float, at least." [Looking out into the water] ". .It's strange being mortal and with it being able to feel this physical pain."
[Grabbing something and putting it into the pack] "I don't think I could do it, myself. It's incredibly admirable."
[Looking back at the Siren] "I don't know, . . it feels selfish. I always wondered what it was like down here."
The Siren pauses, looking over at Star. "It feels selfish to look elsewhere? Most ponies do. We have a saying...
"...about that.
