Rayu had to move quickly. They would be here soon, he had heard their thoughts. She was special. The specifics were vague but he had read enough to see the location. Rayu did not use the front door. he didn't have time for that. He climbed right in the window. It was the dead of night, she should be here in the bedroom. *Come with me if you want to live.* They would be here soon. He didn't know her, but he had to save her. He forgot that he might seem like an assailant himself climbing in the window and carrying rifles. One was for her, if she could use it but now wasn't the time to talk about that.

Damn right Joy was in her bedroom. It was, what? Past midnight? Of course she would be sleeping or at least was on the cusp of sleeping. It wasn't as if she was one of the many people who stayed up late trawling the internet for the latest meme. (She was more of a morning trawler really.)
To suddenly hear a voice in her head, well, Joy just pretended it was something she dreamed up. Even if there was a distinct shift in the lighting from her bedroom window, she stayed curled up under her sheets.

He was being ignored. How could anyone ignore messages like this. Especially considering he was loud. "Hey wake up." he shout/whispered at her and grabbed her shoulder with a strong shake. He leaned his own rife against his shoulder. *You've got to move.*

Muzzily, Joy cracked open her eyes, realized there was someone in her room and in her head, and threw a punch at them. Or she tried. "The ********> she gasped, completely missing sight of the rifle and the legitimate threat it posed to her.

Rayu merely took a step back. Good she was awake. *Get up. We have to move. Or do you want to die here?* he did not point the rifle at her. He wasn't the threat.

Well Joy didn't know that! For all she knew, she was being kidnapped with the threat of being shot. Also ARE YOU IN MY HEAD!? and yes, that was indeed a mental shriek because this sort of thing does not happen in real life.

Let's go.* he tried to pull her to his feet, not caring about her state of dress. *get some shoes on and then take this.* he paused looking her over. *don't make me carry you.* she wasn't a damsel in distress, well she was a damsel she was in distress, but if she couldn't manage her own, he would just shoot her and leave. Better dead than in their hands.

What? Who's they? What's going on? Joy demanded, stumbling onto her feet as she blinked away sleep. She did do as ordered, grabbing a backpack and stuffing clothing and things into it as she pulled on a pair of worn running shoes.
Who are you? And what do you want? She at the very least wanted to know his name. Maybe she had just read one too many novels but this was seriously playing out like one of them.

*Call me Orion.* he waited impatiently while she got ready. He didn't complain, cloths would be easier from her own wardrobe, but every second counted. He glanced out the window, searching for them. *I'll explain the rest later, when we've gotten you someplace safer.* not safe, because there really was no safety when they were involved. But sitting in like a duck in the house was bad. He couldn't hear them coming, but they had equipment for that. *Just know that if they get you, you will never know freedom again.*

Well. Okay then. Joy had gotten herself ready to travel (jacket, shoes, and all) quickly and perched herself at the window. I'm guessing you already know my name, but I'd prefer it if you call me Joy, Orion.

She looked ready. Good, his earlier worries were gone. She would do fine. Rayu unslung the second rifle from his shoulder and passed it over. *Joy then. I'm not sure how good a shot you are, but just general point and shoot. It's got a kick back, so make sure you drop your weight if you need to fire.* he hoped they were fast enough to not need it. He gestured in the direction he wanted to go, out the back of the neighborhood. With any luck they wouldn't run into any resistance and would make it to the car he had out there. Of course he had parked a little walk away. He didn't want to tip them off that he was here.
