Seeds of Destruction The world didn't go out with a bang, but with the ticking of a clock. The President had originally been elected fairly by the people. He promised great things; he promised to bring Dusarory into a new age. After years of feeling hopeless, with no jobs, droughts, and corrupt government, it came as no surprise that he won. The President was an outsider when it came to government. He was the perfect candidate. What the citizens didn't know was the type of new age The President was going to usher in.
He spent his original term reworking the system while trying to make the people happy. If the people were happy, they wouldn't notice that he was making what was once a democracy into a totalitarian state with himself at the head. Of course, part of making everyone happy meant having someone to blame. The problem ended up being the fault of the Peronans, the people from the poorest city. They were taking everything for themselves. They were not to be trusted.
A Rose Blooms As things became more dire, and The President gained more power, violence increased against the Peronans. One fanatic even managed to assassinate the Governor of Perona. Once that happened, everything went downhill. The President sent in members from his own Black Guard to "keep the peace." This resulted in some Peronans being unfairly arrested and imprisoned. Others were killed.
The ones that were left were hopeless, except that is, for a small few. Among these few was a florist by the name of Isaac Glass. Isaac organized a group of these would-be rebels and called themselves The Rose Society. Their main mission was to provide safe shelter to Peronans and smuggle them out of the city if they could.
As the years went on, Isaac left the florist business and dedicated his time to building his organization. The Rose Society evolved from a peaceful organization, into something that The President and his administration feared. They took Perona back as its own independent city-state through a series of attacks that drove The Black Guard out.
Weeds In The Garden The story doesn't end there. Many citizens of Dusarory had started to see what The President was really up to. In fact, only one city seemed to be experiencing the new age that The President had been promising: the capital city of Synelia. In all other cities, they were worse off than before. They had higher taxes, work was almost impossible to come by, and there was nobody left to blame.
As a result, Peronan refugees who had managed to flee into Dusarory thanks to The Rose Society started to gain members for the cause. People wanted change, and if The President wasn't going to listen, they were going to change things themselves.
War In Bloom Cells of The Rose Society were popping up all over Dusarory. Some of them were connected, while others were operating independently from the original Peronan branch. It was these branches that started the war.
It was nine on a cool March evening when the first strike happened. A young boy, hardly out of his teenage years stood alone in the center of the Capital Square. He was part of a larger cell that had rigged the clock tower overseeing the plaza to explode. In his hand he gripped the detonator.
When the clock tower rang for the final time marking the hour, the gates leading to the Black Guard barracks opened, letting the soldiers out into the streets to enforce the curfew. When they stopped the boy, he pressed the detonator, destroying the clock tower, and starting a rebellion.

D U S A R O R Y
Prior to President Howe's election, Dusarory was split into five city-states of varying sizes and cultural ideas. The Presidency was the sole uniting factor, and always did its best to never be partial to any particular city-state. Once President Howe became president, this changed, and Synelia became in charge of the entire nation, with each governor needing to yield power to whatever happened in Synelia. After the succession of Perona, Dusarory became a nation of four city states.
Synelia Governor: Jerome Howe Politics: Jerome was not elected governor of Synelia, though as a charming businessman, he certainly did have the popularity to do so. Jerome was instead appointed by his older brother, Edgar Howe after the former governor died under mysterious circumstances. His policies therefore echo whatever happens at the federal level. People: Synelians Exports: Gems, Jewelry, Fashion Known For: The people of Synelia are great tradespeople, and even better socialites. They create some of the best jewelry and their fashions are always trending. Attitude: Social, Gossipy Seen As: Flamboyant, Talkative, Stubborn, Over-indulgent
Perona Governor: Isaac Glass Politics: Originally part of the nation of Dusarory, Perona left and decided to stand on their own after President Edgar Howe decided to persecute its people. The current governor, Isaac Glass, was elected to office after everyone saw how important his role was in creating The Rose Society, a group of individuals helping to protect Peronans and get them to safety. Isaac does not agree with the policies of Dusarory, but Perona is too small to take them on directly. He still issues orders to members of The Rose Society in Perona and Dusarory. People: Peronans Exports: Pottery, Clay, Medicines, Herbs Known For: Prior to the Divide, the people of Perona were known as great artisans and herbalists. After, they became known for their rebels. Attitude: Passionate, strong-willed Seen As: Mercenaries, rebels, thugs. Many think that Peronans are selfish for withdrawing from Dusarory, and think that nothing good can possibly come from it.
Poybridge Governor: Josephine Remmington Politics: Josephine was elected fairly by the people of Poybridge. She isn't a big fan of The President, but mostly goes along with his policies. There are rumors that members of The Rose Society are among her advisers, but nobody knows for certain with the amount of Black Guardsmen that constantly surround her. People: Poy Exports: Fruit, Vegetables, Wheat, Food Dishes Known For: The Poy are known for their food. Food grows throughout the Dusarory region, but almost everyone agrees that the best food comes from Poybridge. The people are also creative enough to try everything, leading to new dishes being exported as well. Attitude: Reasonable, Practical Seen As: Quiet, but still an unknown. Nobody is really quite sure where the majority of Poybridge stands on the rebellion, as they refuse to speak openly about it.
Raiysea Governor: Sophia Turner Politics: Sophia was narrowly elected governor in the recent election despite what many saw as involvement from the presidency. It's no secret that she is not a fan of Edgar Howe, and that is what got her elected. Because of this, she hardly leaves her office, as it is the most well protected place that she has. People: Raiysh Exports: Fish, nets, boats, shells, salt Known For: Being a coastal city-state, the Raiysh are excellent seafarers, navigators, and fishermen. Attitude: Brash, Courageous Seen As: Obnoxious. Many think that the people of Raiysea are too open, outspoken, and emotional.
Zeri Governor: Joshua Teague Politics: The election was defiantly rigged in Joshua's favor. He ran a poor campaign following the policies of Edgar Howe, and the Zeri hated him for it. Officially, the city-state stands with The President, but its people do not. People: Zeri Exports: Weapons, Science Known For: The sheer amount of intellectuals. It seems as though most of them had flocked to Zeri. Attitude: Informed, Caring Seen As: Humorless, serious

Seeds Of Destruction
Everyone always thought that the world would go out with a bang. After centuries of human civilization, how could it not? Certainly, that's what we deserved. People always speculated on what sort of a bang the world ending would be. From natural disasters to aliens, humanity thought that it had prepared itself for any sort of a world-ending bang. Humanity was wrong. All the years that they had spent trying to create a world without end, and none of them had been prepared when the world actually did just that. You see, humanity had always thought that something else would be their Ruination. They never once believed that they would be the ones to cause their own demise.
It started when a pathogen escaped from a lab, cause a massive famine. Nations went to war with each other over the food supply. Lines were crossed that never should have been crossed. By the time the fighting had subsided, the pathogen had evolved to affect people. Years passed before humanity was able to get it back under control. By that point, society had all but fallen apart.
Taking Root
Out of the ashes of the Ruination came a nation called Dusarory. The founders of this nation sought to create a utopia where nobody would feel hopeless, where everyone had a job, and nobody went hungry. As with most governments, their ideals eventually became corrupted as time went on. Droughts started to ravage the land. Jobs were drying up. Fears of a second, more final Ruination lurked in the shadows.
It wasn't until Edgar Howe, an unassuming businessman decided to run for president that things started to change. He promised a brighter future. He promised that he would reform the government, and fix all that was broken with it. After all the years spent feeling hopeless, it came as no surprise that Howe had won.
At first, everything seemed to be going fine. President Howe delivered on his promises. He set up a Council of Advisors to oversee different aspects of running the nation. They spoke of grand ideas to solve the problems. He created the Black Guard in order to root out any corruption.
By the end of his first term, he was considered to be one of the most beloved presidents Dusarory had ever known. It came as no surprise that he gained a second term, but as we all know, there are two sides to every coin. While President Howe was busy making the people happy, he was slowly turning their democracy into a totalitarian state with himself at the head.
A Rose Blooms
The people wanted someone to blame for everything that was still going wrong. Howe knew this and knew that if he didn't act fast, the people were likely to turn on him and destroy everything that he had worked so hard for. The solution? Blame everything on the city-state of Perona, the poorest of Dusarory's city-states.
Campaigns were launched blaming them for everything, and for the most part, the citizenry bought it. At first, people just treated Peronans with distrust, but eventually, it turned into violence. It wasn't long before the Governor of Perona was assassinated by someone claiming to be acting in the best interests of Dusarory.
There were fears in the capital of Synelia that Peronans could stage an attack in revenge, and so President Howe sent members of his Black Guard to keep the peace in Perona. They had the authority to act as they saw fit. This, unfortunately, led to some of the Peronans being unfairly arrested and imprisoned. Others were killed.
A Garden In Bloom
Perona under control of the Black Guard was a miserable place. The people were hopeless; constantly fearful that they could be taken at any moment. Of course, the thing about fear is that sometimes, people act on it. One such man was a florist by the name of Isaac Glass. Isaac organized a group of these would-be rebels and called themselves The Rose Society. Their main mission was to provide safe shelter to Peronans and smuggle them out of the city if they could.
As the years went on, Isaac left the florist business and dedicated his time to building his organization. The Rose Society evolved from a peaceful organization into something that President Howe and his administration feared. The rebels trained, and as their numbers grew, they were able to declare independence from Dusarory through a series of attacks that drove the Black Guard out.
Weeds In The Garden
After Perona declared independence, many of the other citizens of Dusarory started to notice what the President and his Council were really up to. They noticed that only one of the city-states was experiencing the promises that Howe had made during his campaign. The others were all worse than they were before. They had higher taxes, higher unemployment, and nobody left to blame.
Dusarorians started to seek out members of The Rose Society in their own cities. If the group was able to take back one city-state, then why not the rest? Peronan refugees became one of the most sought-after people.
As a result, cells started popping up all over, with at least one in every city. Some of the cells were connected, while others operated on their own, often straying from the ideals set out by Isaac Glass. It was the latter that started the war.
