Z Rings, Z Stones and Z Moves

Z Stones are a special type of crystal that allow a trainer to greatly increase the power of their Pokémon's attacks during battle through the use of a special device known as a Z Ring. The Z Ring is handed out to trainers at the beginning of their journey, however the stones required to use the special moves are actually scattered throughout the region. Many are held by Gym Leaders, Elite Four members and other prominent trainers in the guild, while others are gained through special job requests. Keep your eyes peeled!

Once a trainer has both the ring and stone, they can finally begin using Z Moves in battle by having their Pokémon hold one of the stones. These powerful techniques utilise the trainer's own physical and mental energy to boost their Pokémon's attacks, and can be quite exhausting even after you've gotten used to using them. Only one Z Move may be used per battle, and a cool down period of five NON battle posts must be applied before a trainer can use one again.

Mega Stones and Mega Evolution

Mega Evolution is a special form of evolution available to certain kinds of Pokémon. It temporarily bestows them with incredible power and abilities, and can even change their typing for the period of the evolution. The Z Ring given to trainers at the beginning of their journey can be upgraded to allow for Mega Evolution, but it will require them to obtain four gym badges first. After that, they will have to track down one of the Mega Stones scattered throughout the region. An Explorer's Kit will be a wise investment for anyone interested in Mega Evolution.

This ability to Mega Evolve relies heavily on the trainer's physical and mental energy, as well as their bond with the Pokémon undergoing Mega Evolution. Only one Pokémon can be Mega Evolved per battle, and a cool down period of ten NON Battle posts must be applied before it can be done again. Trainers must also take caution when performing Mega Evolution, as the phenomenon is unstable and will cause the Pokémon undergoing it to rampage if they are not properly prepared. Maximum affection with the Pokémon is required for Mega Evolution to be truly successful.

Using Z Moves and Mega Evolution in the Same Battle

A single Pokémon can only hold onto a single item, making it impossible for them to both Mega Evolve and use a Z Move in the same battle. But that doesn't mean that a trainer can't use a Z Move with one Pokémon and Mega Evolution with another. It's possible to utilise both in the same match, but the strain on the trainer's body will be heavy.

If both techniques are used in the same battle, the cool down period for both will be doubled. That means that it will take ten non battle posts before the trainer can use Z Moves again, and a whopping twenty before they're up to using Mega Evolution. Too much of a good thing can be dangerous, folks. Keep your limits in mind during battles.
