      Character__Specs

        Character Name ▶ Charitina Valentina
        Nicknames ▶ Charitina
        Gender ▶ Female
        Race ▶ Human
        Age ▶ 19
        Height ▶ 5'4"
        Weight ▶ 127kgs
Physical Attributes ▶ Charitina is a reasonably tall woman with a petite build and a frankly slightly unflattering figure not being especially womanly but not very boyish either. She is slightly muscled on account of her current profession but not in a way which is immediately noticeable partially due to the fact she wears rather thick clothing which almost entirely masks her figure.

Her hair is long, curly and quite messy going down past her hips. It is usually kept up somewhat by a piece of cloth tying it up over her forehead however so despite its messiness it isn't unkempt. It is a dark black colour similar to that of Middle Asians.

Facially she is reasonably attractive. Her face is youthful and mostly unblemished save for a few places. She wears no make up meaning none of her appearance is masked although with sufficient time and funds in the capital she'd probably buy some. Her eyes are wide and a dark blue colour with thin lashes and big bushy eyebrows.

      Personal__Specs

        Job Title ▶ Wandering Bachelorette
Sexual Orientation ▶ Openly heterosexual. Inwardly homosexual.
        Alignment ▶ Neutral Good
        Allegiance ▶ Humanity/Her Settlement

Greeds ▶ Charitina loves money. She will never do any work without being paid and always demands to be paid in steel coins. She always refuses to be paid in runes considering other runes to be lesser than those passed down in her home village.

Aversions ▶ Terrible at drinking any strong alcohol. She vomits the moment it starts to move through her body and so has become quite talented at pretending to drink with others.

She doesn't particularly like men. Her society was mostly matriarchal and so she's more comfortable and used to women. She tends to find she dislikes the smell of men more than anything else.

Ambition ▶ To be married and settle down with a family. She wants to have two children one a boy and one a girl. She's still deciding on names.

True Fear ▶ Someone learning about the women she's profiling.

Personality ▶ Charitina is the very image of a shy traditional woman. She believes there is a proper way to do things and a proper way to engage with others. If she were more confident she would be incredibly outspoken but to most she comes across as slightly strange and perhaps a tiny bit backwards (though this can easily be forgiven due to her roots as an outlander).

She is often plagued with insecurity constantly second guessing herself although she is reasonably intelligent having managed to survive alone with little resources to rely on and of course resourceful. This owes to her ability to make strong value judgements when it doesn't force her to interact with men whom she finds awkward to deal with at best.

Her value driven streak in her personality causes her to be quite hard to deal with at times. She can be demanding and uncompromising on payments. She sees herself as something of a professional and regards her work as a stepping stone to settling down with her children.

Biography ▶ Charitina was born in a small village in the East. Her culture is a matriarchal culture not entirely made up of women but largely made up of women whose interactions with the rest of the human race is rather limited. In her village it is traditional for women to raid other settlements to find husbands however Charitina always found the idea to be rather awkward.

She find growing up troublesome. She was always being compared to her many sisters and somewhat unfavourable. As part of a family whose ways laid in war not being married by sixteen was considered to be unusual. She found her environment suffocating and always longed to be free.

Not wanting to be thought a coward she took up her ancestral weapon the Rune Tree and proclaimed that she would march on the capital to find a husband there expelling herself from her clan until she could return a woman. She began her long journey to the capital facing many hardships on the way. In truth it was an excuse to be free of the usual traditions but there was a part of her that always wanted to be a mother.

She made a stop on her journey in the cities outside the capital to do some bounty hunting to raise money for her marriage. For the last year she's been doing odd jobs outside the capital but she hopes

      Combat__Specs

Combat Strengths ▶ Scrappy: Her combat style is scrappy and quick witted. Everything not affixed to the floor is a potential weapon and some things affixed to the floor are weapons. Trust me I'm an expert. Despite this scrappy style she is skilled with a sabre and has the potential to be skilled with other swords.

Mobile: She's deft at moving about. She can easily jump large distances without fear and is a quick runner. She moves into a variety of positions easily moving from on foot to on all fours quickly.

Surprisingly Sturdy: Her body might not look particularly muscular but she's surprisingly resistant to pain and soldiers on through broken arms and legs reasonably comfortably (or as comfortable as one can be with broken bones)

Combat Weaknesses ▶ Physically Weaker: She's not especially strong. She'll lose battles of brute strength with other trained women and is likely to lose in a battle of brute strength with any fit man.

Somewhat Predictable: You only get one chance to swing a tree at someone and surprise them. Usually this kills things though. She tends to prefer swinging in an arc against opponents with her tree on the first attack of any combat regardless of how many times they've seen her do it.

No martial arts: If she's disarmed she's a terrible fist fighter and is easy to overpower.

        Expertise ▶
Equipment ▶ Petrified Oak Tree, three satchels, travelling clothes, food and water.

Body Runes

Classification: Shape Weaver: A traditional style unique to the more easterly provinces. It's not typically seen in the capital being a style which is often thought not to be particularly useful in the ways of war which the more prosperous human nations had to take an interest in to survive. Charitina happens to be from a tribe where women typically fight with uprooted shrunken down trees as their main mode of combat. Within the village it is expected that all young girls be able to join in the war effort. It's actually quite effective for raids as most civilizations are not built to withstand a hail of trees and shape weaving is a style which allows for near limitless trickery and guile. Many women have many different tricks of their own which they only share within their family. Aside from throwing trees most of her runes are family creations and being born into a more military style family all of her runes are made for war.

Rank: Intermediate

Shelf Life: She would be considered an expert in her village but the design is rather primitive. There is a lot that could be learnt to improve her runes. Having practised the creation of runes which alter the properties and shape of objects all her life she is highly knowledgeable in the use of such runes but would be consider a novice compared to the elder women of her village as well as some scholars in the capital who study these types of runes (though she's likely to have more practical experience with them).

Body Rune Type: Valentina Shape Weaving

Passive: Compression of Space: Valentina exerts a certain level of influence on the air around her causing it to compress down using a rune on her hand. The rune causes the air to act like a shield around her through its compression increasing the air resistance of anything that tries to pass through.

Projectiles and attacks will be slowed within the area around her body and tools lessening their effectiveness and possibly stopping them completely if they don't have sufficient force to pass through although this is unlikely. This increases the time Valentina has to react to attacks as enemies are slowed slightly in range for melee combat and lessens any damage she takes by a small amount as attacks are slowed.

Things of a non physical nature are not effected by the barrier whatsoever and pass through with ease (although the refraction of light is slightly stronger). For example if one were to ignite the air around Charitina then the barrier would do nothing but if one were to attack her with a hammer, sword or spear then the damage would be reduced.

Objects moving sufficiently fast may set alight upon approaching her and lose all mass, may simply be slowed down or be brought to a stop if they don't have sufficient speed. If a person uses a speed rune in that area its effects will be lessened however if that rune has a degenerative effect upon the user (either by damaging their body with speed or harming their internal organs) then that damage will be amplified.

Body Rune Abilities:

Ability Name 1: Aegis of Silk

A rune which can be written onto any piece of cloth. It causes the cloth to take on properties somewhat similar to that of a piece of plate armour becoming just as hard but retaining the flexibility and weight of cloth.

This increases ones resistance to slashing and piercing weapons greatly being almost impenetrable entirely to piercing attacks as the cloth both moves to receive the blow and then repels it with its hardness as it also does with a slashing weapon.

As an unfortunate side effect it actually increases ones weakness to bludgeoning attacks (though not typically unarmed ones) as the hardness of the cloth hits against one's own skin and can easily cause one to take amplified damage. So it is advisable not to use it against opponents with bludgeoning weapons.

The rune is weaved into the cloth of one's garment before it is traced. It can be activated at any point thereafter and one may weave multiple places for runes into the same garment. After activation the rune tends to last about six hours or for the length of combat whichever comes first.

Ability Name 2: Fae Step

Applied to the shoes of its user. The shoes have a rune drawn into them on the bottom. To activate this rune one needs to tap their shoes on the ground twice in quick succession.

This rune manipulates a number of properties of one's shoes and causes them to become strangely springy. This allows the wearer to jump much higher and land more softly as well as increasing the speed at which they jump by allowing them to push off against surfaces with springy speed.

However the increase in springiness also makes it harder for the wearer to run normally. Greater attention must be given to running (although this can be learnt and become automatic with frequent use) requiring them to balance more carefully. Typically when being worn one appears to bounce off the ground as they run.

The rune lasts for a full combat or two hours. Whichever happens first.

Ability Name 3: The Throwing Oak

This rune belongs to the women of Charitina's settlement. It is typically considered to be the most powerful rune the women use although whether or not this is strictly true is debatable given its weaknesses.

After many days carving the rune into a tree and painting with a large stellein the rune the tree can be brought down into a form no larger than a stick. Any tree can be used however oaks are common to Charitina's homeland so they're the most commonly used.

The power of the rune can only be used once before it has to be retraced but lasts for some time. Upon releasing the rune its power breaks and the tree expands into its true form once again suddenly and abruptly expanding into the space it should have inhabited in less than a second. The tree can either be thrown or swung.

Redrawing the rune takes a considerable length of time so this is typically considered a trump card which must only be used on more difficult enemies.

The form of the rune created by Charitina's family is one which draws on an aspect of nature magic however that aspect could be adapted out of the rune and replaced by Charitina's own preference for non naturally occurring materials with practice.

Ability Name 4: Blademelding

A rune partially of Charitina's own creation. This rune relates to her sidearm. Simply one applies this rune to a number of near identical objects (in this case sabres) and combines them into an extremely dense version of them. Charitina's sidearm, her sabre, is actually an amalgamation of about fifty swords in one.

As a result though it is restrictively heavy being impossible for a human to lift and use effectively one handed without the help of rune magic. One of Charitina's others runes is used to make the sword work.

The rune lasts quite some time once activated at least a week however if it were to not be renewed once a week all the swords would explode out of their conjoined space doubtless causing havoc.

The sword's strength is akin to what one would expect of a greatsword however it benefits from its smaller form cutting through organic matter cleanly with no resistance (as a result of it's extreme weight and cutting power combined). The sword is an effective weapon against even those using runes to increase their defences however it is less effective against non organic matter such as minerals and metals. The weight of the weapon is akin to eight two handed swords.

The rune itself is inscribed on the blade.

Of course there is no requirement for Charitina to use a Sabre. It is merely the weapon she is most comfortable with. The Blademelding Rune is also named incorrectly. It merely represents the use Charitina has for it as of now. It could be used to meld other objects.

Ability Name 5: Featherweight Grip

The other rune Charitina developed for herself which goes alongside her Blademelding. This rune alters the state of the grip of a weapon causing it to feel as though only the handle has weight although the weapon retains its weight unless the handle is being held. This requires some training to use as often the blade is used to balance the weight of a weapon.

This rune lasts a week the same as Blademelding and requires constant renewal. It can only be used on handles and could never be used on her tree as it lacks a handle. Only objects made to have handles work due to the rune invoking the form of a weapon.

If one let's go of the handle however the weapon regains the phenomena of having its weight so a string is attached to the sword which is tied around the little finger with a piece of string to ensure it does not suddenly weigh her down.

The featherweight grip rune merely requires a weapon with a grip. The form of the weapon matters not.

Ability Name 6: Radiance Jar

This rune is inscribed on simple glass containers (or any transparent containers). The rune causes light to be captured within the container making it appear completely black. In reality light is stored inside the container and cannot escape due to the rune.

When either the container is opened or shattered light explodes out. So much light can be stored inside that it causes the glass shards to shatter out or small burns as well as a bright flash of light.

Radiance Jars serve as distractions but also weapons which can do severe damage if glass shards hit eyes, veins or arteries. Radiance Jars are lethal to vampires and will kill them instantly if they're thrown within immediate proximity and do near lethal damage even from a small distance.

The glass shards can travel from at least ten metres to anywhere up to fifty and lose force as they travel (though they tend to land in the immediate vicinity) and the light which is released has an immediate area of effect of a metre and reduces in effectiveness at about ten metres distance.

Radiance Jars can scale in power depending on their size however. A smaller jar (for example a vial) will gather light more slowly (and thus contain less) and larger jars will capture more light more quickly thus containing more light.

It is possible to have a Radiance Jar which has captured specific types of light however in ordinary use they will contain sunlight.
