Wil frowned at Alexis's dismissal of the thing though their behavior was contrary to what was said and easy to recognize. "So are you supposed to help then?" Wil glanced between Jeremiah and Alexis, "To help educate or whatever..?" He was obviously concerned and Jeremiah wasn't exactly giving as solid as a solution as he was hoping for. "Can't we do anything?"

"Iunno why we're telling you this. You can't help, Wil." For a second, Alexis' voice was caustic; they got on well enough with Wil, but they weren't exactly friends, probably wouldn't ever be emotionally intimate further than tonight would push. He wasn't supposed to see them like this. Not even Zac, sometimes; they'd still not seen him for months, nothing beyond a thought that brushed away. Then they shrunk back into themself, and the strength was gone again. "It won't come back."

Wil had a rule that pretty much anyone he liked was his friend. That included people who didn't like him back. So long as he didn't have a problem with you, you were good. It was a very simple system. "You don't know that.." Wil said carefully. He wanted to mention that no one thought the magic could just disappear either but weird s**t happened every day. He was positive it could come back. "You're meant to have magic. I know it.. " Alexis was comfortable in their magic.. this shrunken person wasn't them. He looked at Nasir with a frown, which was odd on Wil's face, then to Jeremiah. Perhaps for any bit or inkling of encouragement.

"Wil is right," Nasir said quietly. "You're meant to have magic and it'll come back. You said you're going to help them, right?" His warm brown eyes focused on Jeremiah. "That means find a way for them to get their magic back?" "Yes," replied Jeremiah. "It can be done, I'm sure of it. If there's a method of locking away the magic, then surely there's a way to undo it. Even if we have to satisfy whatever conditions the Spinel Lady has set forth." Though he did not like the idea of Alexis having to prove their worthiness of being part of the Court. Their trials, their tithing by Alois, had been enough. His fingers squeezed Alexis's hand once more. "You will get it back, Alexis. I promise you that." Jeremiah was not a man who made promises lightly either.

The world felt so bright and stifling, so dry, the heat of the sun; they knew it wasn't real, logically, but that didn't make it any better. "Would've --" Alexis' voice caught in their throat, broke, they knew it wasn't true but it felt so true - "would've been good with her. I could have." It had to make sense. It had to be their fault. If it wasn't some direct fault of theirs that had caused this, it was just some random act of fate, some random chance, perceptions that'd gone wrong -- and -- no. No, life wasn't like that. It wasn't. Was it?

Nasir had this look on his face, one that was absolute concern and worry. His heart was in his throat, everything about this situation wrong. The Court was terrible and this was terrible and- "It's better you're not," said Jeremiah. His voice was soft but it was firm. "The Spinel Lady breaks and rebuilds. That is something that is not beneficial at all." Not for Alexis, not for what they needed. He looked to Wil and Nasir. "I need to get back to Court, I have to speak with more people to make sure things are alright but I will likely be back fairly often." A beat passed. "To see what I can do to help with Alexis getting their powers back and perhaps speaking with Melany." Maybe she would be able to do something but then again- No, it was a thought for another time. "This is their home. They'll be fine here." Nasir looked to Jeremiah. "Safer too."

Wil didn't have the same disgust for the Court, but his experience was of course limited. What he could say was that the Spinel Lady seemed like a real b***h. "Alexis is safe with us.." Wil reassured, both to Jeremiah and to Alexis both. He slinkily stood once the chief said he had to go back. He was vaguely aware that proper manners said you walked someone out. He could take care of that much. "Thanks," He unfolded from the floor and moved towards Jeremiah, "For telling us and helping as much as you can." daekie this never pinged me D: sorry

Alexis went suddenly, stubbornly quiet, caught up too far inside their own head to say anything good -- they shook their head again, to curtain their face with their hair properly. God, being talked about like it was a problem to be solved; they felt like a child, they felt useless, useless, useless. Their eyes were still dry. They hadn't -- hadn't -- their eyes were dry. It was nothing. It was nothing. It was everything. "'m tired." They stood up, very slowly, uncurling, and began to walk towards the stairs.

"Wait-" Nasir was moving since Wil was escorting Jeremiah out. "Let me go up with you." Then he looked to Jeremiah and his boyfriend. "Thank you for bringing Alexis home to us. Night, Chief Mercer." Which was as cold as Nasir could possibly be but he was sliding an arm around Alexis and heading up the stairs with them to make sure they had everything. Even if they probably did not care at the moment, he did. Jeremiah watched, quiet, before he turned his focus towards Wil and headed towards the door. Not that he really needed the door. "You're welcome," he spoke to Wil, "and I'll likely be back by at some point in the near future." Already said. "If you notice anything about Alexis - more out of the ordinary - please contact me. I'll let you know if I've anymore information that might be helpful." iloveyouDIE jer is teleporting out on my next post, lol Daekie so i assume this will be a wrap on like ... halo's next post?

Wil could sense that low level of displeasure for Nasir and though he frowned he simply moved on and walked Jeremiah to at least the front hall as the other pair went up. "Thanks," He repeated to the chief and scratched his head, "We will be able to help them right? They are never more themself than with their magic.." He was just sure Alexis was meant for it. Maybe they shouldn't have been mixed up in the court stuff, but if it made them the person they wanted than that was what mattered. "We'll let you know if anything happens.." He agreed.

They moved smoothly, pointedly, soundlessly. Alexis was there, but they weren't there at all; it was a fair assumption, to say they'd checked out a bit ago, pulling the shutters down. Nasir was there. Comfortable. Warm. All they wanted to do was sleep.

Nasir would navigate them to their room, wordlessly. Make sure they were appropriately cocooned within their blankets. It was the least he could do, though he was worrying- so much worry. Jeremiah paused a moment before he nodded. "You will. In little ways you probably don't realize until something else is worked out that will really see their magic returned to them. If there's some other method, something more concrete than generalities, I'll let you know." A breath. "Take care of yourselves." Then Jeremiah was gone, just a blink of the eyes and it was like he had never been there. Daekie time to start the get alexis's powers back 2k17
