Welcome to the Nightmare
It is a dark and stormy landscape. The castle's ruins huddle on the shoulder of a mountain, ramparts rearing up above steep cliffs falling into a partially concealed lake below. By all rights, the only residents should be the inhabitants of horror stories.
However, the herd who resides here isn't your typical herd.
And your Star must not be your typical Star.

Bulletin Board
Hammered onto a roughly carved board as tall as an Elder are notifications, scrawled in the ways of the various members. Amid communiques about missions, family gatherings, and castle reconstruction efforts, in a cleared out space in the center, are several sheets neatly hammered together, serving as a sort of news bulletin regarding the history of the Organization.

Castle Library
In a large, sheltered room in the castle, where the roof hasn't caved yet, and strong efforts have been made to stabilize the roof and cover any broken windows, sits the castle library. In this moldering room are kept all official documents, records, and paperwork pertaining to the herd.
Into this new world have fallen many individuals over time. Some such are a poorly-understood breed of Stars, whose intentions are sometimes not in line with the rest of the Star breeds: Algol, those Stars whom others claim should be dead, and have instead achieved, by hook or by crook, a form of immortality.
A few who have fallen into this world are Stars who, in their own worlds, were called "vampire hunters."
However, this is not the world any of these Stars inhabited before. While it is a world in flux, often for the better, sometimes, old prejudices and bad habits die very, very hard.
The Night Hunters Organization is an organization of Stars who have committed themselves to keeping the world safe from those Algol who don't feel like playing nice with other Star breeds. Whether it be homicidal vampires, or overzealous mummies, or mindless zombies, or aggressive ghosts, the Night Hunters Organization has assembled to keep the peace in this world, between the living and the undead, even if the question should arise: Quis custodies ipsos custodes?

A Note on Algol
While the Night Hunters Organization is primarily a herd that focuses on fighting any Algol who threatens the relative peace of this world, they do NOT exist to eradicate all Algol. There will be low tolerance for just murdering all Algol on sight.
Not all Algol are evil. Some actually get along quite well with other Star breeds. The Night Hunters Organization not only recognizes this fact about the Algol, but they also do not have any rules about whether or not Algol can join the herd.
Algol are welcome to join the herd, provided that they respect all other members of the herd, and do not treat non-Algol exclusively as food or slaves. Algol will be expected to pull their weight as much as any other Star. If an Algol requires the ingesting of blood to survive, they are required to first receive full consent from anyone they bite to do so. Just as there will be low tolerance for the wholesale slaughter of all Algol, there will be an equal level of low tolerance for Algol who violate or willfully abuse fellow herd members. In general, there will be a low tolerance for any Star who willfully abuses fellow herd members. The Organization cannot function if it is too consumed in hurting itself.
Got an Algol who's interested in joining the herd? Provided they are respectful, or at least not openly antagonistic, towards fellow herd members, then there is no reason that they cannot lead a fulfilling life in the herd.

Organization Divisions
Organization as a Whole The Night Hunters Organization, as a whole, was set up and is currently run by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, who ran such an organization in her homeworld. It's broken up into four smaller divisions, each with their own head, to deal with problems and organization on the ground, while the Bureau Chief(s) coordinate between all four divisions. Each division has its role in the function of the greater whole, and each one is equally important. Without Field Operations, the Organization cannot deal with threats; without the Library, Field Operations cannot properly prepare for threats; without the Den, membership would eventually evaporate; and without Resources and Operations, there would be no home, no resources, and no food. Members of the herd should be prepared to defend themselves at any time, except for the youngest members, the Fledglings. Fledglings are not expected to participate until they are older. Headed By: Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing
Castle Library Any organization dealing in the paranormal needs to know what, exactly, lore says about successfully and safely dealing with all threats. The library itself is largely nonexistent at the present time, making it necessary to develop it. Until the library exists in a rather more substantial way, librarians will likely spend a great deal of time out of the castle, collecting important data. Headed By: Izanagi and Haruto
Field Operations The heroes of the Organization, or, at any rate, the ones who actively place themselves in harm's way for the Organization. Agents will be expected to play a key role as well in defense and training, so that the castle does not become overrun in the event of an emergency. Headed By: ---
The Den and the Fledglings A department that was not originally scheduled to exist, it is the most vulnerable of all departments, but still quite important to the long-term future of the herd. One of the early members of the herd advocated the need for such a department, and it now exists. The Den cares for all underage members of the herd, the Fledglings. Education and protection of the Fledglings are also in their purview. Stars in this division are expected to be nurturing, but also to fight like a mother bear when someone gets between her and her cubs. Headed By: Emma Mariah
Resources and Operations The Stars who keep everything functional on a regular basis. Food, castle repair, supplies...you want 'em, these Stars do 'em. It is expected that many members of this division be either capable of trading, or crafting. Easily the most practical individuals in the Organization, and as highly valued as any other for this fact. Headed By: ---

Life (and Unlife) in the Castle
More so than many herds, the Night Hunters Organization maintains a small territory, restricted to the castle, the lake below, the caves that connect the two, and the local environs. Small, dark, leaky, cold, dank, but it's home sweet home. Or, for the Algol, mausoleum sweet mausoleum.
For the time being, living quarters are primarily in the caves, until enough roofs and windows are repaired to start moving into the castle proper. Any Algol who wish to continue residing in the caves at that point in time will be welcome to maintain occupancy in the caves. Novae are also welcome in this Organization, even though they will be restricted to the lake. If, at a later time, it becomes feasible for Novae to move more freely around the castle grounds, they will be quite welcome to do so.
The Castle The castle is currently low on windows and roofs, both problems that are on high priority to rectify. The shape of the walls form an irregular oval, with terminal towers seemingly carved out of the cliff face. The towers are all massive, though currently difficult for Stars to access, another problem currently being fixed, with an idea based on a castle Sir Integra saw in her youth in her world. The main courtyard is dominated by a cathedral that seems to fill the space, rising above the ramparts of the castle like a great leviathan. At the far end, beyond the end of the cathedral lies a bisecting wall, forming the edge of the Upper Courtyard, where the main entryway to the cavern system lies. The style of the architecture is Gothic Rayonnant, delicate and bright, but truly beautiful.
Gatehouse A massive gatehouse lies at the western end of the compound, squeezed between two vast towers, lined on the outside with artistic arrow loops. The gatehouse is being refitted with doors and portcullises, with plans to arm the murderholes. The guts, in short, will be very medieval, and the gatehouse will be guarded at all times.
Ramparts While the inner sides of the walls are Gothic elegance, the outer sides of the wall are brutal practicality, with crenelations and arrow loops. As the herd grows, Sir Integra hopes that Stars with Lyra, Solara, Arion, and Vega wings will see fit to occupy the towers and protect the heights, in case of any invasion or attack.
Main Court The main hub of daily (or nightly) life. On the ground floor, finely sculpted arcades will house the workshops and storage depots of Resources and Operations. On the second floor will be living quarters for Resources and Operations, as well as Field Operations. Along the cliff face that forms the southern wall of the Main Court is the cathedral, tentatively named the Cathedral of Stars.
Cathedral of Stars Filling most of the Main Court, the Cathedral of Stars is a truly massive structure. It is also intended to be used as the herd's primary meeting space. It is not, however, used as a church. There may be plans in the future to arrange small shrines to the Signs in alcoves in the choir. The transept has well-hidden stairs down to subterranean crypts that, once cleared out, may serve as a good communal space for the Algol. During times of an all-herd meeting, the nave will hold terrestrial Stars, aisles will be filled with tanks for Novae, there will be space for aerial Stars on the second storey, and Fledglings will be settled in the choir, for safety. The glass is gone, though there is ongoing discussion as to what new designs would look like, as well as possibly new sculptures, with heavy velvet drapes to cover the windows during meetings, for the comfort of the Algol.
Upper Court Compared to the high energy of the Main Court, the Upper Court is less highly occupied. The Den, the Castle Library, and all other offices of the high command are situated in the Upper Court. As a result, while the Upper Court is often quieter and greener, it is also peppered with play areas for the Fledglings. Fledglings are discouraged from leaving the safety of the Upper Court without good reason, as the Upper Court is the safest space in the castle. Physical lessons are conducted in the Upper Court, out on the central green.
The Castle Library A multistoreyed space, the Castle Library is spacious, filled with perches and alcoves for reading and recording. All reports are kept here, once completed and signed off. Research is both kept and conducted here, as are academic lessons for the Fledglings. It is currently low on documents, scrolls, and books. However, it is hoped that librarians will soon fill the spaces, carving out bookshelves from the stone, or plant matter, as they go. Lights are usually lit within the Library. Here, as in all other rooms of the castle, heavy velvet drapes hang beside the high windows, to be released when Algol need to use the space.
Algol Accommodations Due to the presence of Algol in the herd, Sir Integra intends to have all windows accompanied by velvet drapes, to blot out the light whenever needed. In addition, there will be regular concealed passages into the cavern system within the cliffs.
Nova Accommodations The plan is to have tanks on a special elevator system to allow Novae to travel into the castle. In places the Novae will regularly need to access, the plan is to have spaces cut into the floors and filled with water, so that Novae don't need to feel left out of herd life.

Hierarchy Sir Integra believes in running a tight ship to fulfill the role she intends for the Organization.
Bureau Chief The Star in charge of it all, the Bureau Chief makes final decisions and signs off on any plans suggested by any or all division heads. This position may be held jointly by two Stars, depending on the will of the current Bureau Chief. The Bureau Chief is also responsible for keeping everything running as a whole, and resolving disputes as they arise. Current Chief: Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing
Division Heads The four division heads are equal in the hierarchy, serving as the Star on the ground, so to speak, who deals with the daily affairs of the Organization, bringing the biggest problems, or cross-division problems, to the Bureau Chief only as necessary. If there is likely to be any dissent between two or more divisions, it is the responsibility of the division heads to try to talk it out before bringing the problem to the Bureau Chief. No division head is valued above the rest, as it takes all kinds to keep a herd like the Organization functioning. Current Head Librarian: Current Chief Agent: Current Den Mother: Current Chief Supplier:
The Divisions The four divisions are as equally weighted as their respective heads, although, if any division head asks a Star to do something, unless there is a good reason otherwise, they should still respect the needs of the division head. If there is a problem with a different division member, and it cannot be resolved responsibly, it should be taken to the respective division heads. While special accommodations are in place for Algol and Novae, neither group should view itself as special snowflakes, or as weak. Every Star has a role in the Organization, and the freedom to rise, or fall, as their deeds and needs dictate.
The Fledglings At the bottom of the pyramid are the foals and teens too young to fulfill a role elsewhere in the Organization. Education and training will be a core part of life for the Fledglings in the Upper Court. If any adult or older Star has an instruction, unless there is good reason, it should be followed. That said, Fledglings have the widest futures of any Star in the Organization. There will be little in the way of dictating a Fledgling's choices as to their future as an adult. In the event of an emergency, the Fledglings will be high priority to defend.
