████ BACKSTORY
██████ ▻ Gianna was born to Lydia Vella and Anthony 'Tony' Genovese of Gotham, the youngest of two older siblings, both boys. Gino, oldest and a posterboy for handstome rogues, and the middle child, Marco, a spoiled brat of a boy who usually throws fits and has far too much of a temper to do anything right.
When Lydia Vella filed for divorce from her husband (since he was running her family's side of the mob businesses into the ground), a sudden house fire set while Lydia was sleeping, with a two year old Gianna in the house. Gino, hearing of the plans to set fire to the house, raced to save his mom, managing to save Gianna and get her to safety but when he went back in he never came back out and the house burned down to the ground. Gianna was found shortly after the morning when the police (paid to not show up for a while) arrived on the scene with the firemen.
When Tony discovered his eldest and pride and joy had been killed in the fire, he was enraged and devestated, taking it out on the only survivor of the fire, Gianna. He then adopted Marco as his heir, having inherited both sides of the family's businesses, Vella and Genovese. Marco became a spoiled b*****d of a brat and gleefully violent, throwing his new clout about like the king of a playground.
Gianna was treated rather poorly, being blamed for Gino's dean AND her mother's death, even the house fire itself. Tony had plans for her when he realized his biggest enemy in Gotham was a *****. He began to have Gianna schooled in seducing older men and learning how to kill. After a few years of training, she was given to a hired merc who sold her to Tony's rival under the name Lily.
She killed the boss that night, killing her way out of the building with the assistance of the merc, who turned out to be Deathstroke. Liking the kid's skill at killing and efficency, he kidnapped her and put her on an island, determined to make her a protege. There he taught her to kill and be stealthy, to shoot guns, and hunt down the targets, effectively turning her into a pre-teen mercenary by the time they were done enough to move forward.
The final test ws to face him herself, but she instead fled the island, knowing full well he intended to make her just for spoorting purposes so she would be an interesting hunt herself. She escaped on a handmade raft and finally made landfall a few days later as she followed the currents. Exhausted, Gianna used her new skills to get intell and money to fund her way back to Gotham, but months later when she got back, she found her family had been kicked out by none other than Falcone himself.
Falcone, meeting with her, oftered her a place in his 'family', but she refused his offer. Her family was miles from here and she had plans of revenge of her own. She had been made aware that it was Tony who set the fire and ordered her mother, and herself killed. With a renewed sense of vengence, Gigi left Gotham for good. Her targets were now firmly digging their claws into Central City.
CENTRAL CITY DAYS
While in Central City, Gianna lived by stealing and often stealing for hire; legal documents, jewels, cars, etc. Then used the money to create her socialite persona in Central CIty. She kept her eyes on her estranged family. Soon she knew all thier dealings, mob bosses, grunts, all the way down to the rumors on the streets. Her training served her well to stay hidden and to gather any and all information that she would need to use against them. It was during her stay in Central City when her life really took a turn, an explosion rocked her life to the core, even changing her into a metahuman. The explosion in question is the same that changed barry allen into the Flash (unbeknownst to her).
It was durring a job, while breaking into a warehouse owned by S.T.A.R. Labs, Gianna was caught in a strange blast of energy that not only caught her off guard as she was stealing a very dangerous device that delt with density, but also rang out the start of her new self. The diamonds she always wore for luck (gifts from her older brother when she was young), seemed to have combined with her body when she was sent through, literally, a wall. She awoke in time for security to arrive on the scene, leaving Gianna to narrowly escape using her newfound ability to pass through objects. The only clues they had who did this break in was a microscopic trail of diamond dust. For when she passes through objects she leaves behind this singular unique clue.
Peicing together information from the news about the incident at S.T.A.R. Labs, Gianna fiungured out that she must now be one of these metahumans caused by the incident. While most saw thier change as damning or even as an opotunity for revenge or crime, Gianna's obsession became diamonds. She was already prone to collecting them, but it had grown out of proportion. Gianna trained herself and found her limitations through trial and error. While she could pass through objects, she could also harden her skin to the point where she could become solid diamond. It was as if she was made up of particalized diamond dust and could expand to pass through and contract to become solid, yet still remained flesh inbetween. To say the least, it would make revenge and her profession far, far easiler. On that subject, it wa time for her to confront her father and brother and get what was owed to her and give... was was coming to them.
The reunion was certainly unusual, as Tony assumed she died in the destruction of his old rival's family. She demanded her place back in the family and money, seeing another oportunity to pit her against his enemies again, allowed her back in and even gave her a bit of money to soften her angr towards him. It didnt help anything but her own plans to use him as a shield while she built up her own name. And she had a plan to use both her estranged family and the heroes and villains of the city to her own ends. All her planning culminated in the police gaining a huge amount of information and connections, basically every large scale and small scale operations and crime ever commited by the her father had come to light. They were both arrested but upon transfer were killed mysteriously in thier transport trucks... a mysterious sparkle to the wall of the cell was the only clue as what happened. The coroners report stated that thier hearts had almost literally been gripped and crushed like a rotten peach in a fist.
With her work done in Central City, Gianna then returned to Gotham to own it.
