Yipes whistled a tune as he slammed the vest in the water again. A tune about pickles and sunshine. He paused and took a moment to survey his surroundings. He had wound up on a beach. Somewhere. He wasn't exactly sure.

But it was nice here. The moon was drifting in the sky. The bats were singing. The air was cool with the scent of rain.

"Ca...ca...cazoockldew!!!!" Yipes sneezed, covering his face with his hands. And hearts. Rain and hearts. Durn pink hearts. Always itching his nose.

Yipes let out another mighty sneeze. He was starting to fear he was allergic to the symbols of love....

Rubbing his nose a more times, he found his line that he had strung up and hung his vest upon it. Then settled down by the fire. Pulling his pineapple in his lap, he began to tell it a bedtime story.

"Once upon a time. Not really yesterday but like a ways back, man. There was a lonesome Tiger. He, like, wandered around, looking for some food. But he wasn't able to find any. So then, he thrust his journey upon the world, searching high and low. Every now and then, he stopped and asked newfoound buddies about the purple slip in the road."

He stopped and adjusted the pineapple, which had just started poking him. "Relax, little man. He'll find his way. Now where was I?"

He paused to think about it as his eyes grew heavy. He had a fire and a tent set up, but was this tree was quite deliciously comfortable. Between the bark and the sounds of the fireflies and night winds, he began to fall asleep.

Up above, a pale, translucent figure lounged lazily over a branch, staring up through the canopy. He'd not meant to eavesdrop, but had simply been resting and enjoying the view when the other came along. He must not have noticed the Fae, but then again...it was getting dark and most Pae, for some reason Seiya had noted, never seemed to look up. They'd stare down at their feet all day, but never look up to see what was above them. Odd; he seemed to have the opposite tendency. Made for some awkward trips and stumbles.

He'd started listening to the story below, but when the silence stretched on for some time, he wondered if the other weren't waiting for a response to his question of where he'd left off. After a moment of pondering, a voice from above Yipes questioned quietly, "So...did the tiger ever find anything to eat?"

Yipes heard a voice but that wasn't unusual. He often heard voices. Turning to the little pineapple in his arm he smiled like a doting father. "Of course man. He ate some rainbows as he flew thru the sky to the tomorrow land."

Yipes paused.

"Course that coulda been the hermit that ate rainbows. Maybe the tiger ate sand witches and bear cookies..." he mused outloud.

"Ah, well that's a relief," said the voice from above. It would have been a sad ending to the story indeed if the tiger had never found anything to eat. He puzzled over the faun's addendum to the story though with a frown. There was a rustle of leaves overhead as the Fae changed positions. No longer staring up through the canopy at the stars, he was now draped over a large branch and blinking down at the rainbow-striped faun below.

"I wonder what rainbows taste like. Do you know? I think I might prefer the sandwiches and cookies, myself," he finished with a chuckle.

Yipes chuckled, still blind to the pae above him. His pineapple was feeling deep tonight. He couldn't argue with that. He felt deep too, man.

Turning the pineapple around, he pulled him to his face and said "No, man. Sand WITCHES. As in beautiful creatures who eat your soul when you look their gates and into the iron menagerie. You don't want that, little man. Stay away from those prickly beings." he warned.

Setting the pineapple down a little closer to the fire, he gave his bristly top a pat and leaned back against the tree. "But don't you worry, my little Ananas comosus. The stars will protect you. See them twinkling? They're saying hi."

Yipes leaned back and looked up the sky. Only to find that the sky looked an awful lot like a wing. A wing connected to a...ghost? Huh. He could see ghosts.

Yipes gave an ear splitting scream as he suddenly found himself across the campsite, pineapple in one hand, and one of them floating hearts in the other.

"Don't come any closer! Or I'l...I'l..." He paused to give a mighty sneeze. "I'll allergize you!" he screamed at the docil person sitting in the tree.

All the peace of the story time by the fire was shattered as the faun screamed and scrambled away to the other side of the makeshift campsite. Seiya was left hanging from the branch and watching in confusion; first at what he'd done to spur such a reaction, then second as to what it meant to 'allergize' someone? Either way, it did sound like a threat. So, he shrugged disarmingly at the terrified faun and said, "Alright, I'll stay here then. You were right though." It had become a bit difficult to hang from the branch and keep his eyes on the other while talking, so Seiya pulled himself up on the branch proper before descending to the ground with his wings. Now in plain sight, it became clear that Seiya was a Fae, if an unusual one, being semi-transparent and seeming as if the constellations had descended to the earth.

"The stars do protect us. They're always watching, always guiding, even when you can't see them." The Fae's voice held serenity in its tone and he looked up at the skies above with a fondness like one would when sighting an old friend. He paused, seeming to frown, then turned back towards Yipes. "Those sand witches sound terrifying though. How does one avoid them if you can't look at them?" He seemed to ponder this with some trouble, then shook his head. "I like my soul."

Yipes blinked for a moment. What we he doing? He looked around, then tilted his head at the crazy ghost thing.

Souls?

Aren't ghosts already souls? Wait. Sandwiches. YIpes could help him with that. "I can help!" He also announced. Cause ya know. Announcing was nice.

Yipes set the pineapple down and went over to his basket. As he began to pull things out, first a feather, then a spoon, then a bottle filled with sand, and finally a crumpled ball of yarn, he gave an "Ah ha!" Before turning back to Seiya and trying to hand him a rolled up ball of bread with kelp and moss amd a little rabbit meat in it.

"Sandwich acquired!" He yelled at the ghosty thing before setting it down on the rock.

"WHATS NEXT?"

After a moment of thought, his nodded. Yes. That was it. Yipes settled back in across the campfire. "Now. In order not to fear the sandwich, one must become one with the sandwich. You must stare at the sandwich and ask politely for it's name." He nodded wisely. Comoletely unaware that to a normal person he would have sounded insane

Yes. Yes. That was the best way to counter sandwich fear. Find it's name. Then.....

Then.....

......What was he thinking about?
